That's the scenario i really wanted @Mistafreeze to comprehend, because the word exhausting merit really shows that his merit is really giving out or award without proper qualification.

Like I said before merit is given based on feelings and individual differences, what I see as quality might be a shitpost to you and what you see as quality might be shitpost to me. If I see a post that makes me laugh and brought out some good memories of me I'd merit such post without thinking twice.. You have the right to use Smerits as you want as long as you are not trading it.

to avoid miss management of our Smerit.

How you manage your smerits depends on you nobody cares about it and keeping it is also against the forum rules because it adds nothing to your account so why keep it

I've been both here and Reddit, and most of the time I see merits as like the Award system.
Most of the time I award Silver award at that site. Here in the forum when I choose a post to merit at, I see myself awarding that same award.  I don't just give it away because I like to "exhaust" my sMerit as well.

Those free wards are good for our Karma so no point keeping them. Plus, they expire after 24 hours :p

this is motivation and a good point that you should develop here, you should give your best for the community in this forum, you should get more than you ever get.

Yep, and it is annoying that sometimes I miss out on awarding it.
Good thing that they don't randomly take the "Free" award. It is their way of advertising their coin anyway.
I never bought any of those coins. I am not that really that much staying the whole day in the platform.

Sending messages in forum will not get you anything but total disgust on you from those you sending the messages to, especially when you don't have anything quality before sending the messages for merit, road to merit has shortcut, breaches but one thing am sure of is there is no long-term achievement from doing all that.
How do you sustain the continuous messages some members will ignore your account, merit is gotten by doing right, that which will get you merit.

I advise you not to do such things on the forum.
Most members disapprove of this and don't want to receive spam from newbie members.
That is the fastest way for you to end up on the black list and get a negative trust.
This is one of the reasons why I have personally given up on launching merit giveaway topics on this forum, too many begging and spam messages from newbie members.
The basic rule for obtaining merits has never changed and is very simple.
Write a quality post, quality content that can help other members or contribute to the forum community.

As Daniel91 said before me, I really doubt any member here would actually award merit to anyone with that kind of behavior. I would be really interested to see if you could actually post any kind of proof where you saw that happening (the fact that you don't have any merit should be a tip for you regarding your vision towards "merit begging"). Thing is, at least from what I can see from new members is that they post to get merits, and not by simply wanting to share / take part into the forum discussions - and when they see that their post/point of view wasn't given any kind of "merit" they have low motivation to keep on. That is, however, the wrong mindset here because you shouldn't participate in the forum just because you want to get merits - you should participate in the forum just to participate / share opinions / absorb knowledge - merit's are just a bonus that will be awarded to you sooner or later.

If you have the right motivation then you'll not succeed here - you'll end up forever stuck in a lower rank because you won't be able to progress until you shift your mindset towards your behavior / activity here.

Earning a first merit is a remarkable thing in the lifes of beginners on bitcointalk but such that, they always and I mean always forget to note it down. It means a lot and it goes about to redefining merit for beginners as a thing that could be actually gotten or reached from hardwork and consistency. Many see merit as one of the most difficult asset of the forum because, it really doesn't go out of the forum and it is indeed your way to ranking up so, you gain motivation at this point.

Earning a single merit simply means more are yet to come. All you have to do is to keep putting in work and in time, you would get as more merit as you wish for. Time is just the definitive factor here.

Merit is fine and needed. But focus more on the quality of post you are making. When I was a newbie I wanted merit by all means. Exactly, as you begin to advance in the forum you'll begin to careless about the merits you receive mainly because you'll begin to understand it isn't always about the quality that attract the merit to you. If you begin to observe your post that get merited you'll see what I mean.

Most times your post that you must have felt deserve to be merited due to the quality and usefulness of the post might go unmerited. No this doesn't mean it doesn't deserve to be merited but it could be meriters (both sources and the average user with smerit) haven't seen the post.

This though shouldn't discourage you as all good works most surely get rewarded one day. I have received merits for my posts made years back. Just keep contributing positively and let fate do it work.

Most of the quality posts are ANN threads, services. I like offtopic way more.
But im not that smart to enjoy those “TLDR” posts like most of you guys sure do about all the hype, and layer 2 segwit decentralised consensus hardfork PoS etc etc.

Quality post is not all about the post you said. It is all about the sender of the merit as long as the post that will be merited is not a spam, shilling and much more. I have been merited because I wanted to help but not to get merited just because I wanted to earn merit. Your knowledge in crypto is not base on how many merits you received.

What you should keep in mind that certain boards in the forum are better places for merits than others. Even if you make quality post in some boards, you will likely not get any merit, this is either because there are no merit sources for that particular board or because the board is so spammy that no one notices your threads/posts.

The meta section or various local boards are usually great places for merit, while the gambling boards or the whole altcoin section aren't.

In my opinion, there's a difference between quality post and merited posts. If you ask for what quality posys are, I can't give a definite answer since the forum didn't define what quality posts are. But when you talk about merited posts, they are posts that are contributing positively to the discussion at hand.

These posts must not be agreeing to the topic been discussed, it could be a contradicting view but does has meaning and quality to it. While the level of your post quality depends on the users with the smerit that doesn't mean any posts that don't get merited isn't quality.

Some just lack the exposure needed for meriters to see. Providing you're contributing positively to a discussion ongoing and aren't spamming or posting generic contents you're good to go as your post could be considered quality by a merit source and get rewarded.

day to day getting 'merit' is not an easy thing, for 'newbie' they have to really make good posts in order to get merit. keep making good posts, learn from legendary posts, so you can continue to rank up.

Congrats OP for getting started with your merit journey there is way more to go. You can now become Jr member and then member, full member and so on. It also shows the fact that if you post quality contents then you get merit and your repute increases. Stop buying and selling merits everyone just focus on quality contents.

I just want to add about quality posts and appropriate posts. Quality posts are certainly posts that have many benefits and attract members to start discussing and giving their opinions. A quality post is not just a forgotten post, but a meaningful post that discusses several problems and the various solutions provided. that's the purpose of why you have to post quality. Post quality rules are not explained in detail.

As for the appropriate post, it is a post that deserves to be discussed and is correct in grammar and writing as well as the content of the post that does not offend anyone. Inappropriate posts will not be accepted and will be deleted by moderators because they are considered SPAM.
