Writing about testing a SLI bridge on mining rig. Will it work

Hi.

I have updated my post in regards to bitcoin in Australia upon getting some great advise for the forums. And thanks everyone for contributing.


However. Id like more information about actually setting up personal mining rigs at home so I can add it to the article
Today my new GTX 2080 arrived and I am intending on writing about the difference between using SLI on my mining rig compared to running the two cards separately.
I intend on adding my personal experience into my bitcoin post and discuss a few more points on the hardware you can use at home.
Before I jump into testing what the best setup would be and then writing about the results Id like to ask. Should I run the two cards separately or enable SLI ?

I also wanted to know would changing to mining a different type of coin have an impact on the hardware configuration I choose.

I just recently read that SLI has no impact on bitcoin mining here

From what I now seen. Adding an SLI bridge is pretty much not going to do anything.
I really need to update my article with my personal experience about mining from home. But I don't want to waste money on buying the SLI bridge if its really not going to work.

I'm mining ETH on my main computer using two 1080 Ti with a sli bridge as it is also my gaming rig and I let SLI enabled when mining.
Hashrates doesn't change SLI enabled or disabled, bridge plugged or not.
The mining software does see 2 cards and I can separatly configure them using nvidiainspector.

all my 2018 omen pcs were SLI 1080ti  and mined fine.

Most GPU mining discussions assume Eth but the effect of SLI on mining ranges from nil to negative
depending on the algo.

SLI does not double available VRAM so if the algo is VRAM limited the hash rate will be lower
with SLI enabled. Eth requires a fixed amount of VRAM regardless of the number of compute cores
so SLI has no effect.

Everything correctly.
The new 30x0 series graphics cards do not support Nvidia SLI except for the RTX 3090 graphics card.
The GTX 2080 video card has already been tested in many tests, the hash rate does not increase. Miner developers do not optimize their software for this mode, because it does not give an additional hash rate.
