Only time will tell, I’m fan of the coins no matter what they achieved is favourable to their holders. These coins are both kings they are not rivals in function. The Ethereum’s recognition this time is very much awaited not to mention the excitement of institutional investors growing interest.
OP is ba a big fan of ethereum and the reason why he makes bitcoin undervalued. But i believe bitcoin and ethereum will always gained more support from investors without leaving one behind. And having those institutional investors will even make them hype and probably why they still keep on pumping after a sharp decline.

We are entitled to our opinion, but I really don't see ethereum overtaking bitcoin. Bitcoin is the king of the cryptocurrency market and it would be extremely difficult for ethereum to take that space. I wish to see the value of ethereum increase substantially, so with every other altcoin. Ethereum at its best is an altcoin and Bitcoin is the leader.
Ethereum will always be the best altcoin perfectly paired with bitcoin which is definitely the king of all crypto. I think these two should never be compared since they both have high potentials but have different uses in life. But they come as a perfect pair for investment.

I think OP has still few knowledge in crypto. If you can stay in crypto market for years, you will know why bitcoin isn't comparable with ethereum. And up to this date, no other crypto can replace bitcoin's position.

Both are important in crypto market, especially bitcoin. They are catering different aspects in crypto market. The popularity of bitcoin is one of the main advantages of this coin. I don't think crypto users will forget bitcoin because of eth. But they can co-exist and serve these crypto users according to their needs. And don't forget also, that most alts are relying on bitcoin's performance in the market, even eth is following btc's price movement.

it will not be a store of value anymore when they flip. This will shock the world and people would prefer to spend on technology rather on Bitcoin.

oh, yeah! Where did you get that Ethereum has a larger volume than Bitcoin? Can't you see the whole Cryptocurrency market is depending on Bitcoin?

It is true that ETH is a potential coin, its market cap is very strong, but it can never be given priority over Bitcoin. If you consider 24-hour volume change then Ethereum may be next to Bitcoin, but it is not even close to Bitcoin at all. The whole cryptocurrency market goes up and down entirely depending on the price of Bitcoin, so it is not ethical to say "ETH will flip it". Do you realize what would happen if ERC-20 based token will be left from Ethereum for Binance Smart Chain, due to high fees?

I am not sure and it seems impossible that other coins will pass through bitcoin,
Even for Ethereum itself, I think it's also impossible for me,
Bitcoin will remain the king of cryptocurrency after all and I think almost everyone agrees with that

Is this a FUD on bitcoin or what?  I do not understand your situation and frustration about bitcoin.  Bitcoin is the Cryptocurrency and without bitcoin,  there will be no ethereum.  Instead of demonizing bitcoin,  you should have ask for collaboration between bitcoin and ethereum.  I think both coin will compliment each other nicely!

I don't think ethereum will be able to overtake bitcoin. Bitcoin is ranked first at any time. Bitcoin is the beginning of everything about cryptocurrencies. And have the largest community. ethereum may be in second position. but it will never be number 1.

I agree with you. How can a coin that learns from bitcoin go beyond bitcoin. That's impossible, plus the true decentralized one is bitcoin, which is currently properly run by the community entirely.

Eth has larger volume than btc and it slowly but stealiy overtake Bitcoin in the near future
Eth is proof of stake when btc is proof of work. It’s power usage is umccessary and we don’t need Bitcoin In the space. When they flip Bitcoin will not be big anymore and people won’t talk about it on the mews anymore. They will talk more on ethereum and other crypto and Bitcoin will be forgotten.

Think about the news titles Ethereum, is the biggest coin in the world right now.  Who the hell will want to invest in Bitcoin then? The only reason many people invest now in BTC because is the first coin is the biggest in marketcap. But when they flip people won't talk too much on Bitcoin and dump it for Ethereum.

What’s the reason for anyone to hold Bitcoin? It’s slow and bad for environment proof of stake coin.

it will not be a store of value anymore when they flip. This will shock the world and people would prefer to spend on technology rather on Bitcoin.

I think it is nonsense to compare Ethereum with Bitcoin because Ethereum and Bitcoin have a different purpose and functions, for the main reason Ethereum was created to bring a smart contract innovation accessible to many while Bitcoin was created to become a major p2p functions and store of value (investment) things like that makes Bitcoin more powerful and influential compared to other existing cryptocurrencies in the space and it's not easy to replace the original you must think about that and I also believe that all of those technical problems will be fixed soon.

You just said the wrong thing about it from the start. Larger volume. Ain't that what we are escaping from?  Cheesy
I am not against Ethereum and I actually support it but not to the extent of selling my Bitcoin for it.
I don't know if this is some kind of strategy for you to enter the Bitcoin market for a cheaper price but it doesn't work like that.
You ain't Elon Musk or the Chinese government that could shake the price of Bitcoin.

Why not try run from BNB back to Ethereum? But I doubt they will because of the ease that BNB brings to those buying altcoins now.

It very obvious mate why ethereum has big volume than bitcoin in the market it's because elon's and other greedy people dump on bitcoin not on ethereum.. So no need to explain more why this happening..  And yes its possible to flip bitcoin and i agree with that especially on this current situation.. but remember as you said bitcoin is a proof of work so expect that this is just a temporary wherein soon when btc gained enough strength to jump high again and able to make ATH surely that ethereum will flip as well.

Both are good coins but I don't see ETH will take over the market and will replace bitcoin.
I have a feeling that ETH has a threat to be replaced by BNB and it's likely to happen compared to ETH taking over bitcoin.

That's your opinion but I'm sure the majority will agree with me in my opinion.

BTC is a sure no. 1,... ETH, not sure it will stay for long.

Really? How long will that happen?

Ethereum is an altcoin which means, the trend will follow bitcoin. Just imagine, if bitcoin is fallen, ethereum will not follow bitcoin? How could it be?

Unless bitcoin does not benefit us and all people move from bitcoin to ethereum and mass panic happen in the market, that can make bitcoin drop and the price will not rise again. If that happens, people will move to the other coins, but I doubt that will happen. That still a mystery to us.

I think the OP just got owned by one of the bigtime users here. I mean ETH is a good coin on its own, but I don't think it will be able to surpass Bitcoin at all. There is a reason why Bitcoin is called a king and ethereum the second placer. In my opinion it will take decades before such a scenario will occur. Drastic changes should happen to Ethereum for it to make a difference and for it to be preferred by many people. Also if we are talking about creating hypes then the OP cannot make that hype. It should be someone high at the top. Maybe one of the Rothschilds or maybe Biden should hype ETH.

Ethereum coin has some different purposes to serve but still we always rush in making comparison with it overtaking btc at one point. What point exactly make you believe that? Pos feature? Really mate you need to check the cons of pos algorithm mechanism which provides filthy rich to have centeral control over the network if he stake enough funds to become main validator or node.On the other side this time everyone is becoming an environmentalist to save the planet earth from Bitcoin mining? Miners are already trying to find new ways to use renewable sources for mining but how much energy global financial assest use on the other side just check them also.Bitcoin market cap is already around $1 trillion and investors prefer to invest more in btc than other coins and limited supply push prices even higher. So your calculations are not correct mate.

i heard whales or giant investors from any institutional will switch their bitcoin into ethereum. even one of veteran investors said he will drop 1,5billion in crypto market and it have possibility not in bitcoin. etherum could be the coins that get this liquidity, and when it happen ethereum someday will flip bitcoin.
Reverse how? Did you not see when Bitcoin went down, Ethereum followed suit and when Bitcoin went up Ethereum followed suit, and I never saw when Bitcoin went down, Ethereum went up in price.

I see no reason why ETH will be better.

Ethereum has a massive problem of fees.
Ethereum has a very big growing database and no solution for it
Ethereum has so many delay for PoS
Ethereum has infinite supply

I see really no reason for it.

Maybe a coin like IOTA can challenge Bitcoin but people are not buying so much IOTA right now.
So no chance to flip Bitcoin if peope still consider no real innovative coins.

~snip

BTC is a sure no. 1,... ETH, not sure it will stay for long.

it is interesting view, but bear in mind that Ethereum flipped Bitcoin on three different metrics that are important for public blockchains, and could be easily checked by anyone, namely:
- economic value settled on a blockchain
- paid transactions on the network
- security - settlement assurances (pretty important flip that happened lately)

market cap flip is what usually follows these three, it does not have to, but one should think about it, reverse flip in all three metrics does not seem as realistic option

Eth has larger volume than btc and it slowly but stealiy overtake Bitcoin in the near future

What volume do you count that you say the volume of ETH is higher compared to Bitcoin. Where do you get the source? I think all crypto users use CMC data as crypto story loggers. We haven't seen ETH volume exceed BTC volume.
This is the latest data. Am I wrong in sourcing? or is there another source that is more accurate?
