Hello, we have the problem of the subject and we don´t know what is happening, the truth...

Until I received all the components to assemble the rig, we had 4 pcs mining with 2 gpus each and 0 problems.

A while ago we have mounted it with my husband and we have left it as impossible, let me tell you...

Quote
8 rtx 3070
Risers (From GPURisers)
Asrock H110 BTC-Pro (13 GPUs supported)
8 GB ram
Intel G4400
HP / DELL server PSU x 2

When we turned everything on, we have entered the bios to configure 2 things, there was no problem, the board turned on, the gpus also so we installed the nVidia driver, we rebooted, we launched afterburner, we configured the gpus and we launched t-rex...

It has started to fail and to restart so we have decided to connect the gpus one by one...

We have noticed that the 7 gpus that were not connected, the fans kept turning but the one that was installed in the pcie, stopped. We have tried all the gpus and the same thing happens with all of them. We have tested with different risers (But all of GPUrisers) and the same, and different cables. We have only tried to connect one power supply and the same.

We thought it could be from the bios but no, it has the latest version...

What's happening here !! Can someone help us ?? Any information, anything, would be appreciated...

Regards.

don’t use windows.

try

simplemining.net also know as smos

or try

 hive os

both are good for mining.

i use smos for my 24 rigs.

Have any GPUs worked with this rig, i.e. has any gpu worked with this motherboard or is this a new rig build?

Have/Can you plug in a non 3070 GPU and see if it works on this rig?

If i remember correct, this motherboard has a problem with PCI-E ports. Try to isolate it.
And yes, change OS: Smos, HiveOS, RaveOS, maybe minerstatOS(it may be difficult) - they are easy to deploy, to configure and to use.

Hi, thanks for the answers.

Last night we were thinking about it until 2 in the morning and it is already working (At half gas but good).

We disassembled the entire rig, got into the bios, loaded default values, installed an nvme and installed windows again.

The difference with last night was that when executing afterburner all the gpus worked and we could breathe xDDD

Possible failure in the hard disk that we use? It was a ssd and we installed the same in one as in the other...

We still have to adjust the rig because we are missing two cables to connect the fans (we will go for them this morning) but there is a phrase in T-Rex that is repeated and we don´t know what it is despite the fact that we have configured virtual memory...

Quote
ethash epoch: 417, block the_number_of_the_block, diff: 4.29 G

What does that mean ??

On operating systems, for us, Windows is more comfortable but it is true that we had HiveOS prepared on a pendrive. This one doesn't need virtual memory, drivers and that stuff, right ? The only thing we don't like is the way to access remotely, for the rest, we see it very simple to use, it does not have many complications...

Thanks and regards.

This is just information about ETH. Difficulty, epoch number, dag file size. It does not matter for you for several years at least. I think PoS will be faster than dag file grows more 8GB

Let me explain windows is a tool to mine
smos
hiveos
raveos.

are all tools to mine you need at least two working os just in case one fails.

trex
lol
phoenix are tools to mine you need at least two working programs in case one fails.

motherboards.  are tools to mine you need at least two preferably the exact same ones in case one fails.
riser if you have 10 riser s for 10 gpus you need at least a few spares.
a volt meter to check your pcs you need one
a k-watt meter to check your power draw you need one
psus you need a spare.

frankly you have 10 gpus that go for as much as 2000 a piece if you are lucky maybe 1000 each

that is 10000 to 20000 in vested.

the mother board is cheap but you have one if it fails you lose the mining of all your gpus.

you really should have 2 of the exact same motherboards and use five card on each.

and one should be a linux os the other a windows os.

you can have 2 copies of the each os and just connect 1 to each board.
switch if needed.

all of the above is true because gpus are like unicorns 🦄 very hard to find.

Each rtx3070 requires 2x6pin, and you need a 6pin to power the riser, the usb is just for pcie signal, the power to fan comes from the 6pin power

you need two 800watt gold power supplys for this, that would provide the number of 6pins connectors, don't use the toy sata power plugs

make sure you using high quality risers lots of shit out there

I only run btc or asus mobos, make sure you have the right gen, and make sure your using a mobo designed for mining rigs

risers don't have anything to do with the fans, its all in the power, if you have a new gen riser it will have 3 kinds of 12v power, a 6pin, 4pin, and sata-pin, you only use the 6pin, and nothing else, especially with a rtx-3070 which can pull 250 watts, but I run them at 110watts to keep them under 70c

i'm just responding to this because riser&fan are orthogonal, the riser is just a signal cable, most fans are smart, they run off the power, and are programmed to run a certain rpm, depending upon temp

i fear you could be using cheap ass risers on your $1k++ cards, or not correct power supply given that each card requies 3x 6pin connectors, and most 800w power-supplys 2-3 pairs of connectors, you need lots of supplys, and most people think they can use those toy sata-power connectors, modern supplys don't even supply the 4pin anymore, but its still on the riser ( usually ), but again, only the 6pin can deliver the correct current to the board

normally 3rd gen risers have two pwr plugs at the end 4pin&sata, and then a 6pin on the side, and then two 6pins attach to the  rtx3070, if you don't have the new risers then you should find a new hobby, before you kill your $10k worth of rtx3070's, which is why I don't think this post is real, cuz why would somebody of this kind of investment in gpus, be so stingy on power supplys & risers?

don’t use windows.

try

simplemining.net also know as smos

or try

 hive os

both are good for mining.

i use smos for my 24 rigs.

yep, we run linux in this game, but i requires that you know how to use it,

i just boggles the mind the number of people using windows to mine, and also there is no point in trying to mine more than 6 gpus, it doesn't matter if the mobo has 100 pcie slots, you need to go back to the bios, and correctly set it up for basic six gpus get that running, and before that install linux, ubuntu 20 is fine and learn to use all the tools including lshw, nvidia-smi, nvidia-settings,lspci

I just don't understand how noobs can jump right in with a ton of high end cards, without first just getting a single gpu gtx-1060 to mine correctly,

lastly about 20% of all risers sold are bad, and 50% of those are crap; you also need to buy real good modular power supplys for the rtx-3070, given that three need +800Watts GOLD seal top of  the line

Also never run the overclock bullshit until you get stuff working, i get so tired of hearing people who don't even mine talk about overclocking and after burning, all it does is overheats and kills your $1k cards

too many things wrong with this post, but I would say, get back to basics start with a simple six slot gpu mobo, and one card, and get trex tuned and running, and then only then add cards one at a time, and for gods sake kill the WINDOWS

That right there makes these posts not even worth replying, why in the hell are people using windows? Do they really think that its free? It's not even considered an OS anymore its officially an advert platform like facebook.

...

On the subject of 'how many gpus I have on my rigs', I must be in a real hot place, I double space my gpus on my rigs, and have huge fans running opposite ends, an huge exhaust fans pulling heat, given that a rig can only handle 3 high end 250w cards, and 1000w higher power supplys are super expensive and still lacking the number of modular connections required

I'm sure you can run an 18gpu miner MOBO on the old gtx-1060 class cards, and runnng at 60watts, sure why not, and only using one 6pin pwr cable per card, but these bad ass rtx-3070s are like 5x hotter and more power consuming and heat generating.

Rig chassis cost $10 its the cheapest thing to buy, keep the wiring clean, its just fine, hell I don't know about you people I have to pull all the cards and clean them every three months, otherwise the dust-bunnys short out the voltage-regs on the cards, and yes I'm running air cleaners systems, if I had 8+ cards per rig and had to pull those cards so close together every 3 months it would be insane.

The cards die if there hot and/or dirty, they must be kept clean and cool. Once their dead often you cannot repair them. You people must be operating in some kind of 'clean room' with air-cond

First of all, let us put the components for you because you are implying that we have expensive cards with sh*t components, ok?

Risers from gpurisers (18)
PSUs from paralelminer (1 x 1200w and 1 x 1100w) with 2 breakout boards with 32 pcie 6-pin connectors (Cables 6-pin to 8-pin)
8 x rtx3070s
Asrock btc pro
16 gb ram
Nmve m2 500gb

At no time have we complained about overclocking, operating systems or operation of any component, my husband and I simply opened the post because we had a problem with the rtx, nothing more...

Once we solved the problem with the change of the ssd for the m2, we only asked two questions, the "diff: 4.29" and the hiveos...... Nothing more...

Don't you think that before judging anyone you should have all the data in your hands ?

@btc-room101,  if you "get so tired of hearing people", don´t get into a forum, because the forums are for this, to help each other... And no, until we saw that everything was working well, we did not start with the OC... How difficult is it to ask before opening your big mouth ? It seems........

And seriously, there is another in the post that is accounting for what we have spent ? Amazing xDDDDD Well, keep counting, champion... We have deducted 2300€ from VAT, we have sold the 8 pcs for 350€ each, 2,800€ in total and we have spent a total of about 9500€, total 4400€ / 8 gpus = 550€ each rtx... A good price for 8 cards seems good to the sir ? What there is to read...

Anyway, thanks for some answers, for others no.... Mods, please, close the post and for us as if you delete it...
