I just wanted to share my crypto story as there are a lot of new people coming into the space. There is an overall perception of becoming overnight millionaires but that simply, isn’t likely the case. I got in in 2017 and got into a few alts. I bought these by trading bitcoin on Bitfinex. I got the bitcoin by finding sellers on Craigslist and paying cash. It was a far more difficult time to use crypto.

As the alts pumped my meager portfolio grew beyond my wildest dreams. Still not enough to buy a house (my goal for getting in was to acquire a down payment). I figured if it went up this fast imagine what the next few months would bring. Down payment?! I’ll pay cash! Well, that’s not what happened. The market crashed hard and my portfolio deflated significantly. I had options; sell and be done with this, hold and hope it comes back or learn about it and keep buying. I chose the latter.

Over the next few years, I put what little I could into buying mostly BTC and ETH stacking my portfolio. This took shear faith as it was far away from all-time highs. Everyone doubted it was even real money or worthwhile. So many people said I’m dumping real money into fake money.

Well as everyone knows the market has come back as part of the 4-year havening cycle I had read about. I’ve been able to build a portfolio that grants me passive income. I use a lot of different crypto products and have built a little financial system that works well for me and I can only see this growing over time. I am using profits to attend graduate school and recently bought a new (an old and cheap BMW) car when my car died. I didn’t have to ask anyone for financial help to achieve these costly goals.

So by sticking with it I’m earning a passive income, seriously upgrading my education and was even able to buy a car when I desperately needed to. Stick with it for at least a cycle, buy good solid projects, take profits into stable coins when you can and HODL! There will be another correction in the future but when and how low is impossible to tell.

Hmm, chances of earning merit with such stories are very less and he just wanted to tell his story either it maybe true or not. But these kind of story was actually real in 2017 when people made few thousand dollars via bounties when ICOs are at the peak.

Absolutely those were the crazy times when btc peaked in 2017 and all ICO were booming and many helped users to make some quick money and those who sold their coins were only profitable in the end and rest of them just missed that opportunity as then those coins became worthless.

Good to invest wisely, especially on things that can sustain you and others in the event of serious crisis. That's part of what Bitcoin was built for, an autonomous/alternative community and financial system that can be used to preserve values and sustains global community in the event of serious global crisis like the global financial crisis that probably took place in 2007–2008.
I would make sure the the true crypto communities help build well decentralized and autonomous Networks/systems that can survive what is coming and be used to preserve the lives of many souls.

We don't know if that's true or not but I think op story can be a motivation to stay in crypto and not leave it. Crypto is everyone's hope, I myself can buy a motorbike from crypto.

well we have all story to tell , but what seems to be correct is that None can talk as if they are earning big but the action is showing they are poor.

It's great to read success stories from some of the older members here. I agree with you that we shouldn't expect to become millionaires overnight. It is rather important to stay for the long run. The first time i was here was in 2016, but due to moving to a new city and starting a new job I didn't really have much time for cryptos and ended up selling my coins. I probably regret this once every few days, but we can't change it, the past is behind us. Now we need to plan for the future. Only came back to cryptos recently, but not going to make the same mistake again.

Great and inspiring story I am also trying to build my own house from crypto infact I want everything that I would achieve or have would mostly come from crypto,
So that I could show those who thinks that it is a scam or a waste of time,
That it is worth it the wait,investment everything that you could to accomplish your goal and be successful.

This is an inspiring story.I have also been into crytocurrency for almost three years now and have made pretty much from it was able to pay my school fees and house rent with crytocurrency  . In the future I aspire to buy a car and rent an apartment with my altcoins the journey is just getting started hopefully we hope to made much more from it.

Just keep your faith and hang on with the market. I'm sure that those things that you desire will be reached through cryptocurrencies.

It's going to be really possible as we're already in the process of seeing higher lows and people who have been ignoring it will be missing a lot in the upcoming years.

And they'll say that they should've been in crypto earlier than doubting it.

I'm sure everyone has an interesting crypto journey, I also have unforgettable experiences. I have been active in the crypto world for about 5 years,
and there have been many unforgettable experiences. There are bad experiences and of course there are good experiences too, around 2017 was
my happiest time in the crypto world. As a result of my investment in several ICOs, I managed to buy a car and pay a down payment on my house.
But 2018 was the hardest time for me in the crypto world, because as we all know besides the market crash, there were a lot of project scams in 2018.
And I hope this year's my crypto journey will get a lot better, hopefully Bitcoin can get back to $ 60k soon.

I believe that whatever OP told could be true and there is no need to have a doubt about it. I don't think there could be any other reason for telling this story other than letting other know that crypto journey is full of up and down. Most of the people has similar situations where some either unable to take profits at right time while some earning good profits and enjoying life.

You shouldn't bother. Such cheap efforts at merit hunting won't work.

If you want to truly contribute to a quality discussion on the forum, that's great. But don't pretend just to aim for a few merits.

Unfortunately, the market now is down again after it reaches the highest price. But you do not need to worry because the price will increase again, and you will see your portfolio will grow higher.

And congratulations on your achievements, and I am sure you can achieve the other goals. But you need to work hard and do not just wait for the market moves, especially if you can trading. I see you are very confident in yourself, and that is better than following what other people did because many of them are confused about what they need to do in crypto investment.

Don’t try & trade short term, most people lose that way.

Usually people who invest in bitcoin don't have the tendency to hold for 4 or more years. Either they sell their coins too early as soon as they see some profit or they keep holding in hope of price recovery but then sell them in loss right at the bottom. There are very few who keep holding for 4 years cycle and enjoy enormous profits.
