I just started mining a couple weeks ago after I built a new gaming PC. Crossfired 2x6970 and GUIMiner right now.

Tried slush's pool, didn't get it working.
Tried bitcoinpool.org and they banned me for turning off mining while playing games (i think)
Settled on deepbit because it was easy and had regular payouts.

No arguing about who is doing it wrong, I want to hear about your own personal experience.

I am at yourbtc.net. The pool has merged mining and the best reward system around. Since I joined the pool, I am running 12% OVER PPS which for me adds up to an extra 75 btc during the time period. PM me for details.

Do you turn off xfire while mining? What is your hash rate per GPU and Total?

Turning crossfire on or off doesn't seem to change hash rate significantly (maybe a slight decrease).  Right now I run two instances of GUIminer, each set to one of the GPUs.  I get ~350-370 mhsps per card while idle or doing lightweight stuff like browsing the internet.  Crossfire on doesn't seem to increase the performance of card
  • .  Usually have to turn one or both off for playing games.

>>> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.0 <<<

I used guiminer for a long time until I found cgminer.  Switch now and avoid the regret of not doing it sooner.
You can switch pools on the fly, configure multiple backup pools, monitor temps, overclock, and a lot of other stuff, all with a simple .BAT file.
You only need to run one instance, and you can dedicate separate cards to its own pool.  All kinds of cool shit.
I always had ~3% stales using guiminer. With cgminer, it's closer to ~0.3%.  Yeah.

I owe my soul to the company store.

Come join my pool! I'm all about the miners. Suggestions/Feature requests welcome.

The 6900 series cards do a good good job mining and gaming at the same time.  I have a 6950 and play Black Ops and GTA4 with out a problem with -F 99, second GPU -F 1... xfire off
