Hi bitcointalk community, I have been reading a lot about Power Supply Unit (PSU) and I don't understand why there's such pricing discrepancy. Let's take a 1300 W PSU 80+, the price goes from $517.05 CAD to $1,954.50 CAD from different makers on Newegg Canada. https://www.newegg.ca/p/pl?d=1300+Watt+power+supplySince I started to mine, I always bought EVGA PSU, never had issues. I know the efficiency is a big factor. What else, mean time between failure (MTBF) ? Thank you

EVGA PSUs come with a 3 year warranty and I use CORSAIR PSUs with a 10 year warranty. CORSAIR RMx Series (2021) RM850x CP-9020200-NA 850W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Power Supply https://www.newegg.ca/corsair-rmx-series-rm850x-cp-9020200-na-850w/p/N82E168171392722 of these PSUs will be better than 1 single EVGA 1300W PSU and much cheaper.

Server blocks are also very expensive now. Server blocks do not work well at undervoltage, and the power supplies that I talked about work perfectly both at an increased voltage of 240 volts, and at a reduced voltage of 180-210 volts. This is standard practice in the village. A stabilizer is required to use server power supplies.

Haaa okay good to know! And also on a server PSU, in most of the designs you will need to provide power to the server PSU manually by pressing a button. This makes the starting of the rig more problematic especially when the system is intended to run remotely, without direct access and supervision.

This is exactly what I was thinking so you buy it for $20 but it can die the following week especially if they were used 24/7 for the last years to mine.

Many breakout boards have molex or hdd wire input, so when regular psu starts server psu starts too. I use regular psu+server psu with breakout board, By the way i dont recommend server psu for expensive cards like rtx3000 series and for radeon 7. If you have expensive rig then dont rely on server psu.

Im not loading then 100%. 700-800W load which makes like 60-70% load and they are cool.

The EVGA PSUs i have all have 10 year warranty. Ive yet to need to use one yet and several are now over 6 years old. https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=220-P2-1200-X1I use those as the ATX on a rig and server psu for any additional need. I do have a couple of kkmoon 2400w dual server psus that have all atx hookups. They work nice for $299 when i got them years ago.

Depends on the sellers, I don't buy anything over 200$ for a single power supply, some sellers are too greedy that they sell a particular PSU for a too high price, make sure you search for other online stores for that same PSU you eyeing for better price
