The Cowessess First Nation said the discovery was "the most significantly substantial to date in Canada". It comes weeks after the remains of 215 children were found at a similar residential school in British Columbia.
Another mass grave with 751 bodies have been found in another residential school run by the Catholic church. If so many children died in just one school, then you can imagine how many would have died in total (there were a total of 130 residential schools for indigenous people in Canada, all run by the churches). The official government toll of 6,000 total deaths is a heavy undercount. The real number may be 10x or 20x that much. The children were killed and their bodies just discarded in unmarked graves by the Catholic clergy. Even after their death, the dead bodies of indigenous children were treated with utmost disrespect.
