Hi everyone. I'm in the UK.
Why are my BTC buy requests being ignored by the servers? I don't get it. Everything seems to be set up correctly.

Hi everyone. I'm in the UK.
Why are my BTC buy requests being ignored by the servers? I don't get it. Everything seems to be set up correctly.
You might want to mention the name of the exchange in question and also provide some pics in regards to the type of error that you're receiving.

If you have provided more details about where and how you are doing it, this would be a pretty easy thing to answer. I don't think it's that complicated to purchase BTC in your area as long as it's legal there. Maybe find a custodial exchange there that supports the people there.

I'm trying to buy though Electrum, but so far, no responders. I set up my wallet using the default setup and have tried different servers but nothing yet. the idea is to eventually use a coldcard.

You can not buy Bitcoin on electrum directly, try to use an exchange to but the Bitcoin, then send to electrum. The fee can be very high. Also know that using decentralized exchange like Bsiq will give you privacy. You can also try to create the topic about the buy on currency exchange board, you will probably see a seller, but make sure you trade with a reputed member and use a reputed escrow service. You can also buy using centralized exchange, but it will not let you have privacy, while sending bitcoin from such exchange also do involves high fee.

You would know that Electrum is a Bitcoin Wallet to store your Bitcoins on it but it's not where you would buy. This is where you could read about different things about having a crypto wallet.

[General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why?

Anyway, purchasing BTC would be easy if you had a hardware wallet like a Ledger Nano S, you could buy BTC with it as well using a credit card.

If it's okay with you, is there any reason to why you are purchasing BTC as well?

It's clear you're misinformed and don't understand some fundamental concepts.
If you are interested in cryptocurrencies, I advise you to use this forum and the abundance of information it provides.
Be sure to completely understand each step of the process. If there are any details you do not understand, don't hesitate to ask.

You must be pertaining about Electrum's "Receive" tab.

Just like others' said, you cannot buy Bitcoins through Electrum directly.
More info for the receive tab: The requests you created using that tab only act as "invoices" so Electrum will know which addresses will be funded so you wont accidentally reuse an address for privacy reasons.
It'll also automatically include the description you input to the history tab when the invoice was successfully paid.
They have expirations because of the same reason so the address for the (unused) expired invoice can be used for a new invoice.
The tab is basically where you request new address to receive Bitcoins.

Electrum is a wallet just like coldcard, except it is a software wallet, they both store bitcoins. Also, it is sometimes adviced that you avoid coldcard and instead use Trezor or ledger to store your coins.

P.S; if you're trying to buy on electrum, you probably shouldn't be buying just yet. Before purchasing any asset, you should have done your research on it first, and understand how it works and how to safely hold it.

Very helpful advice but I had some things to know if you don't mind then you can tell me. Can the Electrum be a good wallet for mobile users for a long time? What kind of security practices do you need to practice if you want to save money in Electrum from any other exchange, What kind of precaution should be taken in case the mobile is often lost or damaged due to mobile usage?

Always keep a copy of your seed phrase on a paper stored in a safe place like a vault, that alone can restore your funds in case of lost/broken device.
Do not save it in the same device, online or cloud  storage, or anything that's connected to the internet because of the reason above.

As per security measure, it's a mobile device so it's not recommended for hodling Bitcoins for a long time.
I wouldn't recommend any mobile wallet for that purpose at all unless you won't use that phone.

It's off-topic BTW, next time, please create your own thread if it's not related to the topic.

Electrum is a wallet that stores bitcoin and not a place to buy, so what you will need to do is open an account at an exchange, send money there, then buy BTC there and send the BTC to your wallet.

So to do that, you will have to take the bitcoin address from your wallet and copy/paste it in to the withdraw option on the exchange and withdraw the BTC to the address.

But one important thing you should know is to backup/write down your seed words from your wallet, because that is your only way to recover your BTC if in case there happens to be a system crash or failure.

But since you are in UK, I will like to suggest you open an account at Coinbase or Binance to buy BTC.

But however, there are many other places to buy bitcoin around the world, which some are better than others, some expensive but easy, and some cheaper but slow which will require your KYC (know your customer) verifications.

So, I advised you to go for Coinbase, since you are in UK.

Op, are you going to receive btc or trying to buy?. Post above is the answer regarding the electrum that you are using. Try to buy btc in binance or coinbase then transfer it to your electrum and hodl. As of now, I am using trustwallet to receive bitcoin and transfer to another wallet to store it. Just don't store your btc in an exchange site.

Are you trying to post an image or something? Because all I see is a huge space after that.
It is a huge space after that.

If you don't want to use exchange and you are looking for way to buy through a wallet then download trust wallet or coinomi wallet, they have ways that you can purchase bitcoin in them using bank transfer or PayPal or credit cards and get the coins in your very own BTC wallet

What potential did you mean? Electrum to be a place to buy or sell?
No, just as what other members told you, Electrum is a wallet to receive and store your Bitcoin or later to transfer it.

Hi everyone. I'm in the UK.
Why are my BTC buy requests being ignored by the servers? I don't get it. Everything seems to be set up correctly.
You might want to mention the name of the exchange in question and also provide some pics in regards to the type of error that you're receiving.

It is funny that there's a huge space in his post and I don't know if I will expect something for that to fully understand his rant about living un the UK and investing in cryptocurrency. It is much better if you will put all the information so that we can fully understand your thoughts regarding your situation. That's some way of technical problems that you need to address to them.

If you read the previous posts, you'll see that the problem was: he misunderstood Electrum's receive tab, there's a "request amount" there and he probably mistook it as "Buy Bitcoin".
Never replied after his third so I think he figured it out because of Charles-Tim's answer.

The "huge space" must be caused by the muscle memory of pressing "Enter" to send but he didn't know that the forum added break-lines instead.

I'm sure you have a credit card and I'm sure you have a bank account, don't bother using any other services than binance exchange, you can use their P2P network too it's very straight forward to use, just open an account on binance exchange and buy your coins or BTC
