The premise here is electricity is free. Sound's Italian, let's see already 0.30 $-KHW (europe), after resell to the 'charging-station' it will be $1-kwh, or more. There's a guy already doing this, has a whole rig (6+) RTX-3090's in his trunk, over a year ago, you can google / youtube it, I think this is a very old idea, probably as old as btc, given that you have to plug the bitch in when your not using it, I guess why not suck more power, can you imagine, say running a S19 (80THS) bitmain miner for BTC at 3,000-KWH, what the actual 'fueling' charge would be if you fact sucked the power to 'mine' btc, you know they charge more for power, cuz they can, and its how they make money, by reseller power as charging, via your credit card.

As always these types of articles say 'bitcoin' but by that they mean crypto, and most likely its a single toy GPU mining ETH Hell it would take a diesel generator to do 3,000KWH like you see on portable welding-trucks.

Now this is interesting, a well deserving competition is gathering momentum in the electronic cars arena and to top it all, it mine btc unlike our good old Tesla whom I doubt can do neither,  this is great news,   just what the btc community needed.

Some individual has already built something of that kind - US Man Installs Crypto Mining Rig in Hybrid BMW Sportscar.

In the first post it was mentioned that the car would mine crypto while parked. I think it will be correct to say while charging. First, it would be a silly situation when you come up to your car, and its battery is dead because it mining. Second, it will be unprofitable to mine that way. How much can a car mine during 8-10 hours of parking? Not much, compared to how much it would cost to replace battery.

But in general, mining with car sounds good for promotion and people definitely would like to try that.

Terrible idea. You can implement something like this with existing cars, that should not be a feature which entices people. Think about it, if you have an EV, you're going to want to eliminate any frivolous energy consumption which reduces both the range and the lifespan of your battery. Why would you need to include something like this in a car???

Your energy efficiency is going to be even worse than before. Just buy a miner and a car, you'll be better off that way. Trust me.

I can only agree with others that it makes no sense to mine BTC (I'm not sure about Doge) with anything other than professional devices - and this concept with crypto mining cars is completely illogical to me from any aspect, except of course it can be used for promotional purposes. Any owner who tries to use this feature will surely give up spending his precious electricity on something that will not bring him any benefits.

Who knows whether Tesla will react and offer a similar option in its vehicles - or EM is not so stupid after all

Ok, we all know Crypto currency mining require a large amount of electricity.. so let's imagine this scenario. You charge your EV to 100% and you drive to work. In a parking bay, your EV starts to mine some Crypto currency and the battery are drained. Now you have to recharge your car again, before you can drive back to your home.  

It is fine if this Crypto currency is based on some PoS coin, because it consumes much less energy.... but then you have to lock up 1000's of Dollars worth of Crypto to allow you to mine these coins.  

Also, most batteries only have a few thousand cycles to recharge the battery and when those are done, you have to replace the batteries.. which will absorb most of the profits that you might have received whilst mining with them.

An electric car that mines cryptocurrency?This sounds like a strange idea to me.
Perhaps this is a scam crowdfunding project,which targets cryptocurrency users,who were butthurt by the fact,that Elon Musk dumped Bitcoin.There are several concerns about this project.
1.Raising 350 million USD in funding seems pretty ambitious.Will the investors get their money back,if the funding goal isn't reached?
2.Does this guy (Aldo Baiocchi) know how cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are mined and what amount of electricity is required?
If this car really mines BTC,it would probably mine around 0.00001 BTC per month,which is totally not worth it.

Mining in electric cars makes sense, yes, but I don't know how much potential it can have. Even graphics cards made for this job can give limited performance. Making money just by traveling sounds good.

I also can't believe what I'm reading right now and I don't wanna know how it works because it is more complicated but more or less, this kind of news is good for the market and that's all it matters for me since with this kind of development will not die suddenly like the other project we know. especially this came from some big-time competitors.
