MEV? What is MEV a scam or opportunity

Hello fellow miners,
I have been noticing MEV threads in subreddits and other forums but still no clear and simple answer as to what exactly it is, what pools support it, what does a miner have to do to profit from it etc.
I read 2miners blog post about it but I feel even more confused, can somebody share some thoughts and info?

Basically pools are now running bots to manipulate which transactions get added to the block.  Anyone can do this themselves (it requires a bot though, and obviously a lot of knowledge), but pools are now also doing it and passing some of the profits from this onto the miners.
