For efficiency wise and hashrate performance rtx3080 and 3070 will do the best job followed by the mid GPU cards like 1660 super or Ti but mind you GPU are over priced right now so your return of investment will take longer

For me the most efficient card right now is the Rx 5700 xt with 55 Mhsh at 115 watt which is the best for the moment and it does not require a PSU larger than 1000 watt for 6 cards which gives you about 330 Mhsh of power. The RTX 3070 if found at less than 1800 EUR is another great option for efficiency speaking and not consuming a lot at 60-63 Mhsh for 160 watt.

The best for the moment in power is RTX 3090 with 120 Mhsh per card.

I'm looking to setup a simple mining farm.

Depends on your budget. As said above 3060ti/3070 are really good. However is your budget is not enough try to find cheap rx470 / rx570 4gb and miner Ergo coin with them.

Ur in a dive bar, and a drunk say's "If u can have any woman tonight, who would it be", you reply, there is only one gal in this bar,same-same with GPU today, all there is for sale is used shit that has been mined to death sold on EBAY for 500x, please just admit that this OP is a joke right?

In two years the GPU card will be worthless, until then just stay away, many of us bought 5+ years ago, and just don't care about the current scammer scalpers running the meat-space.

Last summer I was buying rtx-3070 rigs at $250/card ( prices paid here in Asia ), now they're $2k card on amazon, whats a mother to do? Just keep mining and enjoy the show.

Wow, what a fucking nice deal. You sure it's not a fake RTX-3070? Even 1660 TI is hard to buy at that price, not to mention 3070 which has at least 3x its price at MSRP. Which country are you living in right now? Must be nice to get such a nice discount from Nvidia.

plus considering that the rtx-3070 were release in october of last year.. i.e. fall... so don't think it was rtx-3070 last summer

Don't buy anything now.
In 5 months there will be a sale of video cards.
Now the prices are high and the profit has fallen.

What makes you say that? The bear market? Or there's a new card released in the next quarter?

I don't think the supply issue is going to be solved that soon. I'd be glad if I'm wrong though. Buying secondhand card is now as difficult as buying a new card. It's hard to upgrade my old pc.

Well if market drops down to 2 cents an mh miners will dump cards.

I set up a client with five nine card riser less rigs. he got the gear in feb. 3070 cards

45 x 1200 = 54000 in cards add the  other parts. he paid just under 58k he mined for about 150 days

the best days he made 550 a day the money now is 165

his power is 13 cents he burns 168 kwatts a day  about 20 bucks.

so he is done to 140 profit from 530.

at the moment he could  sell them at 1000 get maybe 45k for the setup and he made a lot mining.

all over the world there are people with higher power cost like him.

all that needs to happen is a drop to 2 cents an mh and a ton of people like him will dump the gear.
