As a newcomer to the community, I would like to ask about the levels of bitcointalk and the functions of each level.
I understand that merit needs to be rewarded by others. Do I have other channels to obtain merit?
I saw a few posts with new ideas ,I like them and I want to give them merits. Can I use btc to buy merits?

The ranks only give you access to signature space, more messages, avatars, and such. There's nothing much up here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=178608.0

Do I have other channels to obtain merit?
Nope.

Can I use btc to buy merits?
Nope.

Thanks, this is very useful for me
It seems that if I want to improve my level, I can only insist on replying and posting, thank you. I will try my best to express valuable opinions to get merit

Why do many newbies from day one write in the meta about their appearance on the forum? Hooray, we are very happy!
The funniest and dumbest thing a newbie can do is post a thread on the first day of its appearance on the forum and start talking about a long-debated topic of merits.
Normal users who come here try to read the forum, and not be clever about the usefulness and all sorts of promises.
OP, this has already happened a thousand times, and not interesting, moreover annoying. Read more, write less. This will make you look smarter.

Insist is not the correct term for it. Read before you reply and post only if you have something new to add to the discussion.

For a newbie it is tough to earn merits because majority of the merits dont end up in the threads of Bitcoin Discussion where it is supposed to be sent because threads there will end up as cycles of cesspool after a few pages worth of replies and the OP would have already abandoned the thread. Although this is a "Bitcoin" forum and not a "Meta" forum about the forum. Tongue

But try to post in newly started threads and read more to learn first before posting. Your chances of getting merit are more there.

Suggest you to lock this thread soon, you have got enough answers already and it is tiring to see threads like this come up every other day. Roll Eyes

By "normal users", do you mean the genuine newbies who are actually posting for the first time on this forum and not some dude hiding behind an alt? That also got my suspicion up too because I would think the first places to post should be Beginners & Help, Offtopic or Politics. Meta is a more complicated section to start posting in. But then, what do I know. The world is truly a strange place. 🤷

mk4 is half-right.  You certainly can buy merits, but if you're caught doing it you'll likely get negative trust in the process and IMO it just isn't worth it.  Plus, the last time I saw the price for a single merit it was ridiculously high.

Just do things the right way and make posts that stand out from the rest of the garbage you're inevitably going to come across as you start to read through threads on the forum.  That's really the only way you're ever going to earn any merits.  If your posts are just average, merit sources aren't going to take notice and non-merit sources are most definitely not going to give you any merits.

If you're looking for examples of posts that are merit-worthy, just take a look at the post histories of some of the top merit earners.  I don't have a link to the list, but if you see members with tons of merit just look at how they're posting and try to emulate that.  Oh yeah, don't buy an account either.  That'll get you negged as well.
