What would you be doing if there was no bitcoin?

I just want to firstly thank Satoshi and all the early bitcoin devs for literally creating a whole industry. Without bitcoin and crypto I would stuck in an office job as a middle manager. Bitcoin literally gave me and many others a way out. I am able to now create and build projects that would not be possible without bitcoin due to massive barriers to entry in the legacy world. And I am so grateful to Satoshi and co.

With that being said. What would you be doing if bitcoin did not exist?

I'm personally just so financially and emotionally invested in Bitcoin that I honestly don't know what I'd be doing. Probably would still be in the technology side of things looking for the sort of "next big thing". But Bitcoin just has the perfect mix of bizarreness and actual plausibility that I couldn't even think of any other thing right now that I'd be passionate in.

To be honest, I'd go as far as say that I probably wouldn't know what I'd do with my life if Bitcoin ceased to exist(theoretically) for whatever reason lol.

Will probably still be trading stock, commodity, forex, programming etc if the internet remained in existence.
I have always preferred working from home because people were just weird, and i never really do well in crowded place or noisy environment.

Honestly if there was no Bitcoin I do think that in few more years we would have gotten one. There would be a scientist sitting back in his house thinking about how unfair the whole centralized system is... Plus he would already be working on it.

Having bitcoins integrated in our lives is something inevitable. It's much needed. Even though most of the world is democrats but at the end of the day the manipulation is sick to it's core.

I do think that if there was no Bitcoins I would not get an opportunity to work online on such platforms internationally and grow as a whole. At the same time it just makes my life easier , I am able to transfer money internationally without any additional efforts, without additional paperwork being submitted to the banks and them creating it a much harder job than it should have been.

It's a blessing for us.

Probably be taking my PhD honestly, as I was an aimless academe nerd for years until I met bitcoin in 2014. Upon knowing its possible uses for my own benefit, I started investing a lot of time and effort in knowing more about the cryptocurrency until I was able to shake off the PhD trap. Most of my colleagues who took up their PhD completed it, though at the expense of an immense debt and a not-so-good financial rewards on their employment.

I don't think I would die without Bitcoin. Quite a strange question. Have you been able to raise your capital with Bitcoin? So you're in luck. But that doesn't happen to everyone. Someone was able to lose a decent amount of money by believing in Bitcoin.
Therefore, it is foolish to ask what people would do without this or that. As if just one thing determines the whole life of a person. It all depends on the people themselves, how they manage their finances, and how they can earn them. Surely, if there were no bitcoin, another coin would appear, or something similar to it.

Listen mate, first of all Bitcoin is not a full time earning source for me.
And i too came to know about Bitcoins when I searched for how to earn money online.
So if today if the Bitcoin won’t exist, then I would be still doing some other micro tasks in order to earn online.
I guess my story is similar to almost 60% or more people who reading this post and we all are proud of Bitcoins.
Lastly we all thanks to Satoshi for creating this amazing invention and made earning so easy.

If bitcoin didn't exist then I'm still pretty sure that I would never experience how useful this decentralized currency is. Before bitcoin existed, maybe we were all just people who always depended on a centralized government currency which most people thought was very unfair. Bitcoin gives us financial freedom and we can also increase financial privacy which we cant do with fiat and its banking system.

I got to know bitcoin and this forum in early 2017 and by then I already had a full time job that I still enjoy. Bitcoin has never stopped me from working in real life even though I have improved financially since getting to know bitcoin. So basically bitcoin is not the reason why I don't do anything regardless of the presence or absence of this asset. Before bitcoin existed, I was a worker and after bitcoin is more than a decade old I am still a worker.

To be honest, throughout my life, the existence of Bitcoin changed the economic situation for me and my family. I can meet the needs of the house, buy clothes, family interests, pay for hospital health insurance. and everything related to Bitcoin finance contributes greatly.
all can not be separated from the benefits that I got while in the world of trading Bitcoin.


and if Bitcoin doesn't exist, then I can't say how my fate will be until now . This is a confession and a confession that I make based on an experience that I will share with my descendants later.

I cannot think of what would I be doing if bitcoin's not there. I'm not into understanding how such markets work and it did help to learn and understand even the simplest and basic knowledge about it. Well, maybe I'm not the same as I am today if there's no bitcoin.
I would probably be stuck into not learning markets and I wouldn't probably think about any investments because it's also bitcoin that has thought me how to invest.

But I do wish I knew about bitcoin back in 2009 there could be hope that I lost my wallet on some hard drive.
Then trying data recovering methods on the hard drive to recover the wallet most likely because I would've sold those bitcoins in 2013 when the initial pump happened,

Then realizing it later in 2017 when the bitcoin price blew up again and thinking i should've had held bitcoins.

Sounds like me! I am thinking about myself but yes, most of us would have sold anyway if we had Bitcoin from 2012 or even earlier. A lot of respect to those who held through all the crashes and bull runs, but hard anybody can do that without losing all your sleep during the night.

1. can't know what cryptocurrency is
2. do not know the development of digital finance
3. can't transact across the border
4. Can't have big finances
5. impossible to be in this awesome forum
6. Unable to know the world news which is full of market manipulation
7. will not know what FUD, FOMO, TREND, and other things related to digital money are.

and there are many things that we cannot mention here. plus during covid 19, maybe we will just be unemployed, not sure where to get income during the lockdown that is still in effect in my country.

Bitcoin plays a major role in cryptocurrency market if bitcoin would not be exist then none will have the knowledge of crypto or even blockchain because blockchain is famous just because of bitcoin and if bitcoin would not exist then none could transfer from one country to another without needing the third party.

If Bitcoin didn't exist I don't think very much would change in the world. There would be a lot more money in offshore bank accounts held by multi-millionaires and billionaires, because cryptocurrency has given them an extra way to move money around without being hassled by government agencies who would otherwise be able to track most of it. Most of the money would likely be invested in companies that return profits to their owners (the shareholders) either through dividends or employing earned profits productively back into the business. Gold might be a tad higher because it has always been a safe haven asset, and maybe obscure forms of collectible items from trading cards to whiskeys would also be priced a bit higher.

Great OP, this made me literally think!

I am biotechnologist in Bosterbio group and my part time job is Pencil carving. So for it is very clear that I would have spent more time in the Laboratory with my rats and microbes and cultivating them everyday. Lolz. May be would have been more focused on the Pencil carving and do more orders. With bitcoin most of  the time I am excited to leave the office and dive into crypto world.

Due to bitcoin I extended myself out biological field, went for the mining operations, learnt the tech, explored the bitcointalk forum and knew the different ways of interacting with crypto currencies and earning them.

This became huge part of me now. So yes, probably not having bitcoin seems pretty unrealistic by this time.

I would still be making investments into another things. I've already made an investment into gold for example. But I'm really happy that we have Bitcoin. It can be much more profitable than anything if one knows what he/she is doing.
