Forgiveness is a noble virtue. Forgive him if possible, but still he needs to be spotted so that others can be aware against him. If he is a forum member, then please update the thread with his profile ID and give enough proof that the found has gone from your wallet to his wallet. There will be users who will tag him.

No, this scammer is not associated with the forum and I don't even know if he has an account here...

I wanted to punish him somehow by sending another transaction with an indication in the notes that this is a fraudulent address but I think it's stupid...

Sending him more money will be a stupid idea. There are sites where you can tag scammers addresses. Like : https://bitcoinwhoswho.com

If this is a bitcoin tx then sign a message using the address you sent the coins and tag his address with the reference of this thread. This may help a bit to aware others.

If you the scammer not associated in this forum or if you don't know him personally, if you don't know his personal details/address then how you will punish him? Only one thing is left that you have to be another scammer and somehow you you scam him. LOL  Grin This is also not perfect.

So now you should forgive him as Royse777 said. And Yeah Learn from this lesson and don't be fool next time.

If you are in a country where crypto transaction is legal, go for a legal complaint. It may work if any info is found. Scammers always leave some proof which can be linked to their identity. If proper investigation is there, you may get him traced.
Before going to take legal action, you can check where he sends the USDT. It is possible that he will send in any exchange which can be a great source to get his identity.

be very careful because these damn scammers have the guts to attack their victims again just to have the pleasure of bragging about their friendships, don't think of revenge if you don't know them and even if you knew them you could still end up being harmed by the scammers at your attempt at revenge. imagine if any of these scammres decides to chase you across the internet? nowadays with social networks we always end up forgetting about privacy and they can find us

I think that even if cryptocurrencies are not accepted in his country, he can report the case to the police, the biggest problem will be if he lives in a third world country like mine where there is no specialized police that only deal with cyber crimes

A final note: if the amount is very low this doesnt apply. But you just have to track him and find more information about him. An email is enough if you now how to use google. Once you found some specific detail you just keep searching and you will find more. Forgiveness only applies if the culprit repents. Otherwise he will keep going scamming other innocent victims. Every successful scam is an incentive for him to keep scamming. Burn the guy if you can.

That wouldn't be punishing him; that would be rewarding him even more for pulling off his scam, so don't do it.  You can't appeal to a scammer's moral compass by trying to shame him--especially not like that.

Forgiveness is a noble virtue.
It is indeed, and while OP doesn't necessarily need to forgive this scammer, the best course of action as I see it is to just let it go and learn from it--because there really isn't an alternative.  He can't get his Tether back, and he can't punish the scammer in any way.  Either he holds on to the resentment and lets it fester or chalks it up to a learning experience.

OP, I got scammed for 0.3BTC back in 2016, and I was absolutely pissed about it.  It took me a while to accept that I wasn't going to see that bitcoin again, but it made me way more careful about the people I do business with (and nowadays I don't do much of that).  I never forgot the experience, obviously, but I did come to accept it and let it go.  Don't beat yourself up for getting scammed or allow anger to rule your head over this.  It happens to a lot of people in crypto, no matter how experienced they are.  It's just the nature of dealing with an irreversible form of money.

Hello everyone, I was scammed for the first time))

Cool, most of us have been there, welcome to the party.

The amount is not significant, but I want to somehow punish this scammer.

You can't punish them tbh, even if you know their IP it doesn't guarantee it's their real, If you really want to punish them then find them on some big community, lets say on Reddit or on bitcointalk, and call them out with proof, I'm sure they'll lose their credibility.

I sent a Tether to the Tron blockchain, there is no outgoing transaction from his wallet, most likely this is his own wallet, what can you think of?

Or forget and forgive?)

It doesn't matter unless if know them IRL, If you sent them Tether after a short Discord chat then no, I'm afraid you can't do anything.
Forgive?, Yes forgive yourself for making the mistake but learn from it.

If there is enough evidence, the scammer can be tagged if he is in this forum. Scammers try to hide themselves by using all the way before scamming. But they are not always successful and their footprints remain online. I myself have been a victim of scams, I have tried a lot to get my funds back. But I failed and could not take any action due to lack of sufficient evidence. But since then I have been careful, I am now very careful when dealing with anyone.

Hello everyone, I was scammed for the first time))

The amount is not significant, but I want to somehow punish this scammer.

I sent a Tether to the Tron blockchain, there is no outgoing transaction from his wallet, most likely this is his own wallet, what can you think of?

Or forget and forgive?)
Forget and learn from it. If there anyway you can find the scammer in real life then do it. Post his profile so that he can be punish by some authority. Best way is learn from the mistakes you did. I often wanted to find a scammer that trick me before but the urge to hunt him down is gone because I realize that isnt worth my time actually. I just learn on how to avoid such trick and scam.

For all newbie, Ive always remind to ignore those strangers message cause there are chance that they are really majority of scammers and not a normal inquiry from someone.

If the amount id low then there will make you more loss to spot the scammer as well as to give any punishment. But if the amount is more than you may take legal action against the scammer. But if the scammer is from this forum then you may give the profile link of the scammer as well as enough evidence sothat DT can give negative trust to the scammer.

Everybody here wants to punish these scammers so we can set an example but we are all anonymous here and it's hard to track these addresses where we sent our coins we can only give awareness to people on how these scammers works so they can avoid these scammers, unfortuantely newbies are gullible and they easily believe on what scammers are promising.

The only possible way of punishing someone is to contact them via another telegram ID and try to get more details about them. I mean it might or might not work but obviously, the scammer would have blocked you, I assume by now.

Yeah surely if the coins aren't moved yet, it surely belongs to him. Usually, coins at an exchange's address are moved immediately.

Or forget and forgive?)
I don't know what to suggest but if I was in your shoes and got scammed for a small amount, I wouldn't bother wasting time with a scammer and instead forget and move on. If the guy for any reason needed that money like some kind of emergency, I would even feel fine about getting scammed but obviously, we can't know it.
