I owe Michael Saylor an Apology..

In this, I expressed my distaste towards Michael Saylor's presentation/philosophy of bitcoin. He was using lingo such as: "Bitcoin is surrounded by a wall of energy." This, combined with a slew of other corny phrases, really put a bad taste in my mouth. Initially, I found everything he said to be a complete and total load. While his understanding of bitcoin was clearly quite vast, his ways of expressing it were cringey to say the least.

Then I began to learn more about Michael Saylor.

Michael isn't your standard cookie-cutter business major. He's not some guy, pumped out by the conveyor belt of todays universities.

He graduated from MIT with dual degrees in aeronautics and astronautics as well as science, technology and society. This man is a literal engineer.

His comments, such as the one I mentioned above, are a product of this. He is able to see bitcoin in a light that many can't. He is able to see it for much more than the supply/demand aspect. He is able to see the beauty of bitcoin and how it's value is related various scientific/engineering principals. You will find that he brings up concepts like the different laws of thermodynamics. Specifically the 1st Law. (States that energy can be converted from one form to another).

Honestly, I feel quite silly posting criticism of someone without understanding how they think, or without considering their background. I hope I did not step on any toes here by imposing my premature judgment of this man.

I strongly encourage many of you watch his interviews to get a clearer understanding of what I am talking about.

Someone's qualifications don't make them automatically right all the time. You know that there's a lot of highly educated nocoiners, including some Nobel prize winners. Hell, even CWS holds a lot of degrees.

And the problem here isn't even whether he's correct or not, it's just that he uses way too much silly allegories that make us Bitcoiners look weird to people who don't know anything about Bitcoin. If I didn't knew anything about Bitcoin, his tweets would make me not want to buy Bitcoin.

I would agree that Michael Saylor can  be categorized as cringey as well as eccentric but then again I would prefer to listen to him than those other personalities who have the habit of criticizing Bitcoin especially if there is a big dip. I mean he is actually adding more colors to our understanding on Bitcoin and certainly he is brining his own background and belief in the whole process. In between him and Mr. Elon Musk, I would definitely prefer the company of Michael and we can sure that he will remain a solid and robust supporter of Bitcoin for a long, long time.

I mentioned this previously here on Bitcointalk, but I also think that Saylor was just a dude who yolo-ed into Bitcoin as a bet to increase the value of MicroStrategy. But after I listened to a dozen of his interviews on YouTube, I realized that he actually knows his stuff. But yes, he definitely has his own way(albeit corny af) with his words that could easily easily make him look like a crazy person.

He also invested in Apple and other tech with arguments similar to those he uses with Bitcoin. This is not to say that he will always be right but he seems to have a good eye for technological changes in the world and how they will make certain financial assets behave.

I think the same. And I think it's one thing that Frank Giustra was able to explain very well in the Bitcoin vs Gold debate.

I recon we all agree that Michael Saylor comes across is eccentric and his explanations
are indeed very corny but I feel he has a very high level of understanding of Bitcoin.

His understanding of the workings of Bitcoin is phenominal and his outlook
for its potential is also phenominal. when we get our heads around how he conveys
this information we realise, he is a genius.

This is why sometimes this forum is scary for someone like me,,, or even someone like majority of people who come to use it. We have our opinions about Bitcoin and crypto, and a lot of it in the looking glass that we view the world with. But if you say one or two things that is not so accurate according to someone,,, they can come and eat you and destroy you for it:)

Interesting though I saw Michael interview on a financial channel and he did not use these terms you mention but he explained it in quite good terms I thought was useful to look at from a business perspective (loss of value of keeping in fiat versus BTC).

When you know what Bitcoin is about you don't need to be reminded by anyone about its true value. Supporters like Michael Saylors will come and go but the most important thing of it all is to never forget what bitcoin stands for.
Remember you've invested into a revolution, into a financial revolution that without war will change the world for the better. Keep your keys and if you have to listen to these guys, just use only one ear

This is something I have never been able to stand by. He has even went as far to say as pulling a second mortgage to finance more BTC purchases.

Very dangerous advice. I hope he readdresses this.

I'd probably consider and think twice about that advice if you're buying bitcoin through a company and you can get 0% interest rates; but he's probably forgetting that the huge majority of the people listening to his videos are typical retail people. I'm bullish on bitcoin on the long term, but a typical employee going all in on bitcoin(even without loans) could be catastrophic.

I completely disagree. When I am talking about cookie-cutter business majors I am speaking primarily of clowns like Jack Mallers. Michael Saylor is certainly not one of those characters.

I think MS likes to hear himself talk sometimes but I do not think he is in any way, shape, or form trying to become the center of this movement.

I applaud his bullishness and conviction, but his methods and advice leave something to be desired.  Specifically his use of debt.  He tells people to mortgage their homes and spend every last cent they have buying Bitcoin.  I've never really seen this ridiculous type of advice be praised before so it's weird.  Sure, he might turn out to be right and if everyone took his advice we'd certainly all be rich.  However, it seems incredibly irresponsible, possibly more than Musk getting people to pour their life savings into a joke meme coin for dogs to use on the internet.  At least Musk wasn't openly telling people to get loaned every dollar they could and dump it into crypto.

Saylor is doing something amazing for Bitcoin holders, but I just wish that debt wasn't a part of it.  Bitcoin should be used to help people escape debt, not accumulate it, regardless of how beneficial you may believe that to be.

This is the thing with Bitcoin. It's so popular that people who talk about it suddenly become popular. Just look at some of the crypto youtubers and TA analysts. They're almost never right and they love to repeat FUD but they make money doing so just because they talk about Bitcoin. Most of us wouldn't ever know about Michael Saylor if not for his opinions about Bitcoin.

I like him because I'm very bullish about Bitcoin and if his opinions make people hear about it and start learning then there's nothing wrong about it.

these big-business types are the opposite of what's healthy for Bitcoin and business in general: they're anti-competitive, manipulative and generally psychopathic, and their whole culture has essentially raped capitalism with dirty tricks, pushing a new generation of kids to conflate capitalism and corporatism. the worse this gets, the longer it'll take to fix it


if you promote this kind of character, you're the same kind of scum and fully deserve all the consequences
