I am very excited that we've got 1 day for the Esports World Cup games for dota 2 to start. The group stage is already ironed and there are the teams who are in the schedules now and I think that most teams have already arrived in the venue which is Paris. But the group stage doesn't get crowd and they're in the hotel rooms for the setup of the computers. The first day is going to be intense and here's the schedule of games.
There are 4 groups and this group stage will last for a week.

And these are the teams per group, which group do you think had the strongest and most difficult one to win? or it seems that all groups are balanced and well distributed.

Thank god this time it's only 3 simultaneous matches instead of 4. Makes my life much easier analyzing drafts.

There's also a rumour saying Parivision is playing without Dukalis, and playing with Tobi instead... Not sure how true that is tho. We shall see.

Very excited for this tournament. I think there are too many teams tho... 24 teams makes some matches really boring and one sided. No one likes to see like Yandex/BB/Spirit vs fuckin Poor Rangers/RuneEaters/LevelUP getting 20min stomped.

Give 100%. 110% is impossible. Only idiots recommend that.

I think that I've heard of that rumor that Tobi is going to play as a stand in but it wasn't clear if it's with Parivision, maybe it's with them. That's not the full form of Parivision that we've seen to be at their strongest.

I've tried placing bets a few times, but I'm having a lot of difficulty, the matches are more unpredictable than you think.
While you have a certain probability knowing the teams, that in any case during the live streams you notice the skill of each team and especially of the players, this does not change the aspect of uncertainty, as the unexpected events and changes at play are many.
The games are exciting for those who know the game and therefore also understand the dynamics, for those who don't understand the game they only see colors and explosions without understanding the dynamics.
I prefer LOL as a game to follow, but DOTA 2 is not bad, it's quite addictive, but I avoid placing any kind of bet, I feel like an incompetent.

That is what I like with dota 2, even for someone experienced. The pro games are very unpredictable, you'll never know how weak or strong the winner will be. That's why I only bet what I can afford to lose so that when an unexpected come back happens, I'm okay with my money losing with it for as long as I enjoy it and that's an absolute cinema to watch. I think if you're into LOL, that's okay and just keep on following what you think you're good at but it's okay to observe and just bet the little amount that you can afford to.

It is the world cup of Esports so expect there to be alot of teams even if they are lower ranked than their opposition.
What I have learned in dota2 competition there can be upsets. My thoughts when this does happen is those higher ranked teams underestimate them then lose their concentration on the match at hand.

There should be a chapter for CounterStrike2 matches in this Esports World Cup right?
Glad they changed venues from last year and have it being played in Europe instead.

These "lower-ranked teams" are usually not even in tier1 tournaments. There's a BIG difference between a tier2 team like for example Gamerlegion or Rekonix to teams like LevelUP, Poor Rangers, Inner circle or Nemesis. Those teams are legit tier 3, that benefited from an INSANE 4 slot qualifier without any proper competition. My chin will hit the floor if LVLUP, PR, Nemesis or IC wins a map against any of the top dogs.

These upsets you talk about, mainly occur when there's a draft advantage by the underdog. It happens quite often.

Give 100%. 110% is impossible. Only idiots recommend that.

Day four of the bracket stage ended as expected with T1 and BLG sweeping their opponents, FURIA and LYON, to advance to the next round.

These upcoming rounds are where things get interesting, as we have BLG vs. HLE in the upper final, and in the lower bracket, G2 vs. T1 could be closer than expected if T1 keeps drafting carelessly.

Yes, based on HLTV's event calendar, it'll be next month.

Unfortunately, they (G2) will be facing HLE in the next round, so they would probably drop in the lower bracket and get a rematch with TES.
I was wrong, they will most likely face the loser between T1 and BLG. Yikes! I think it would've been better for them if they had dropped earlier in the lower bracket.

This year CBLOL couldn't even win a proper game, unlike in other instances. The Brazilians didn't even have any hope, and when they realized it, they were already up against T1. A 3-0 loss, as expected. And for faker to say that the region has improved, to me, was just politeness.

CMIIW.

The Esports World Cup for this year is composed of too many esports games and counter strike 2 is also included in this organized tournament.

As per checking, the total prize pool for the cs2 is $2M.

Glad they changed venues from last year and have it being played in Europe instead.
I thought that it's in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia but, the venue has changed as I was lurking around of the biggest events happening in the world of sports and even in the esports.

You're right about the upsets and just this day, RuneEaters have beaten XtremeGaming once so that makes it 1-1 instead of thinking that XG will beat them twice or with a 2-0.

I think the reason for changing the venue was due to Iran/US war since it's in the Middle East and I'm happy that this event still pursued in other venues. And yes, CS2 is a part of it too. You can follow games of it too by next month.

We'll only watch those teams and games we like and likely undecided yet. But let's give it a chance with the new comers because they might create an upset.
It is the world cup of Esports so expect there to be alot of teams even if they are lower ranked than their opposition.
What I have learned in dota2 competition there can be upsets. My thoughts when this does happen is those higher ranked teams underestimate them then lose their concentration on the match at hand.
You're right about the upsets and just this day, RuneEaters have beaten XtremeGaming once so that makes it 1-1 instead of thinking that XG will beat them twice or with a 2-0.

There should be a chapter for CounterStrike2 matches in this Esports World Cup right?
Glad they changed venues from last year and have it being played in Europe instead.
I think the reason for changing the venue was due to Iran/US war since it's in the Middle East and I'm happy that this event still pursued in other venues. And yes, CS2 is a part of it too. You can follow games of it too by next month.
Only asked because when it the event was last year they had all the esports matches from the different genres at the same time. They had the space for the crowds in the middle east.
Thanks to ralle14 and sunsilk for answering the CounterStrike2 matches for this Esports World Cup are scheduled for next month according to HLTV.org site.

I believe this pause is due both to the fact that the other games are happening one at a time, and to the fact that the last major Cologne championship recently ended, giving the players time to rest. But I'll definitely watch, maybe we'll have some good surprises, with all this money. I wonder if they still use that mini trophy to represent the teams??

Even tho i am not much up to date with the FGC pro scene anymore, i am a big Street Fighter/Fatal Fury/Tekken/Marvel vs Capcom enjoyer.

I will definitely take a peek when it starts. Watching EVO used to be one of my favourite things to watch a few years ago.

The same dude, I am having a nostalgia and good thing that some marvel vs capcom appeared on my fyp. And as for Tekken, I'm just manually searching the matches on Youtube and AFAIK, it's still Arslan Ash who's the champ for Tekken EVO. The communities of these gaming/esports just keep on growing and there are more. That's why we're all so happy and thankful that there's a recognition like this just as how the world cup is treated.

The one from last season at Riyadh was the first time I really began watching the matches and remember only remember following the dota2 and cs2 part of it.

Yes thanks for the links whenever I would search for tournaments of dota it would show past seasons and not the current ones and have always went to the hltv.org for anything to do with cs2 since it was up to date.
That works nicely for this EWC 2026.

I wonder how big these championships really are? Can they be compared to Dota, LoL, or WoW? Because I know they exist, I've played them at some point in my life, but they're not as widespread as MOBAs and FPS games, for example. Is it a lack of organization or below-market values? Because I believe it's more a matter of organization.

And here we go again, that's why it's fun because of the prizes and the teams that are participating in it. For this month, we've got dota 2. And then for the next month for cs2. I just don't know the other esports of when they shall commence but I am sure this is an all win for the gamers all over the world professionals and fans. Before, we don't have this much tournament that we anticipate and good thing that there's one big sponsor for all of this.
