If you've lost money to a scam or given out your personal details to a scammer, you're unlikely to get your money back. However there are steps you can take straight away to handle the damage done and protect yourself from further loss. I recommend you follow this steps I call CRCR

1. Contact people you know
Scammers mostly get away because their victims are ashamed to speak up.
You should warn your friends and family about scams. If you're a business, let your industry association and other contacts know about the scam. This is very important because the scam doesn't end with the primary victim, scammers attempt to stretch the con as far as it can go. Have you heard about ransom scam? It goes like this, a family member gets a anonymous call that s relative has been kidnapped or is in some kind of trouble. They are told to keep this information to themselves and pay a certain amount of money before xx time. Believe it or not people actually for this.
 2. Recover your stolen identity
Scammers have evolved into a scam ring, they may even have a syndicate. They exploit dating sites, social media, telegram. If you have ever been a victim of a scam no matter how long ago be rest assured that your information is no longer safe. Fraudulent Investment platforms are now requesting kyc before withdrawal. This way they get to have your information and God knows what they can do with it.  Identity theft on a whole different scale.
If you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, it is important that you act quickly to reduce your risk of financial loss or other damages.

3. Contact your financial institution
It is advisable you change your online passwords if you suspect your banking info has been compromised. Also contact your financial institution immediately. They may be able to stop a transaction, or close your account if the scammer access.

  4. Report scams to the authorities
Contact the SEC, FINRA or your state securities to report the fad and get assistance.

Financial Industry Regulatory Authority ( FINRA)

Conclusion
You may not get your money back but by reporting the scam you save someone else from being a victim.

If I'm unsure about something, I usually start by searching 'keyword+scam', and most of times I find something, all thanks for this goes to people who bothered to make a post when they got scammed, you don't even have to reveal your identity for this.

I have a friend who had been scammed and reported his case to police and some authority. Guess what nothing happens on his case, he just forgotten the scam money and now its already considered case closed since they cant track the scammer with the limited information they have like chat, fake social account.

Sometime we learn if we experience something like this, for sure this could be a hard situation.

Scamming becomes more effective when you don't talk about it. It synonymous to rap victims that becomes too ashamed to talk about it less they be the talk of the town for being victimised but then, the offender stays off the hook and there schemes too. So, if you can't get your funds or whatever has been taken off you back, you can help in pirating the scheme so that, it becomes old news and limit the number of those who would have been victims to these sort of scams tricks. By not talking, you let these guys perpetuate these evil still.
News on the Internet spreads like wide fire.
Anyway, the best way to be safe is never to be a victim. There is literally nothing you could do with compromised identity so, be too sure before letting those out and always talk to somebody, somebody with a skeptical and critic mind. It could save you.

If it's a crypto-related scam then one should report it here on the forum as well as on the local board as people actually do check those. And if it's not a serious scam or a big loss, learn from it, don't dwell on it. Shit happens, it isn't your fault, move on and learn from the experience.

Conclusion
You may not get your money back but by reporting the scam you have someone else from being a victim.

It is good to report scams, but I don't think it will help the next victims.

Usually people fall into scams because they are trying to get easy money. People look for 1200% APY, 5% daily returns, free ETH and so on.

Although you can get some free money in cryptocurrency (like airdrops and stuff like that) , you should always be aware of what is a private key, never to share it, never to send money to potential scammers, never sell your personal data for a few bucks etc.

I believe the best you can do after being scammed is to use that experience to learn. Why did you contacted the scammer in the first place? Were you after something legit, or just free money in a quick rich scheme, too good to be true?

Learn from the experience and don't look back.

1. Contact people you know
Scammers mostly get away because their victims are ashamed to speak up.
Dex crypto scams are different from other scams pertaining to fiat/centralized funds, the thing with Bitcoin is that you can't protect everyone on the network, notwithstanding the effort one employs to actually tell people stories of how they lost funds to scammers, unfortunately, only very few users learn something out if it; the thing being that many people who come to the network are actually basically just after ROI, so they fail to study security protocols or modus operandi's of scammers made known through previous victims, thus efforts in updating people on your scam experience can more often than not be futile.
This way they get to have your information and God knows what they can do with it.  Identity theft on a whole different scale.
If you suspect you are a victim of identity theft, it is important that you act quickly to reduce your risk of financial loss or other damages.
Scammers operate frequently in the black market, selling the info/data of their victims and this can expose them to attacks such as a $5 wrench attack, but the thing is once your identity is in the hands of scammers you can't really retrieve it, you can just stop using most of those information in their hands, such as email, passwords etc, avoid using them for most of your important accounts, and then for better security, create separate information to be used on untrusted sites.

Sadly, I have to agree on this. Reporting scams are usually fruitless unless there have been good leads on the case, and not the typical "I got scammed by this nobody"

You may not get your money back but by reporting the scam you have someone else from being a victim.

Or save? The bold word!
I don't think people will go for reporting scams that involve a tiny amount. No one bothers to take a further step for such an amount and they simply move on because it doesn't worth the time. On the other hand, in case of a big sum scammed, it's very unlikely that scammer will get caught. It's certainly good to report a scam but most of the time, this gets unresolved. Either no action is taken or nothing can be done by the authority because big scammer always have enough security ensured.

Thanks for the correction. Unreported scam cases only aid the scammers do more harm. Imagine if investment sites are not reported, they would pass out for a legit platform to most

You may not get your money back but by reporting the scam you save someone else from being a victim.

I think this is the only good that comes out from reporting scam and nothing else. You reporting the scam as a victim would never bring back your lost funds. If you noticed on the forum different scams are been reported like daily but yet we still hear stories of victim of this same scam technique that have been previously reported on the forum been used, successfully on them.

Before anyone falls victim of scam, it all on that user either for been greedy or ignorant. We should make the security of our funds our top priority, never believe some random users that contacts you online. Do understand that if that user was already successful, they won't waste their time contacting random users like yourself. Don't trust anyone with your funds don't even trust the well known exchanges.

If it's a crypto-related scam then one should report it here on the forum as well as on the local board as people actually do check those. And if it's not a serious scam or a big loss, learn from it, don't dwell on it. Shit happens, it isn't your fault, move on and learn from the experience.
Many people deliberately invest in pyramid schemes. They make calculations and try to understand when the financial pyramid will close in order to withdraw their money until that moment. If there were no such scavengers, then financial pyramids and other scams would not have received such huge profits.

That's risky but there is some truth to it. I've met s few people who think that way. They believe that if they are the pioneers of the scheme they will be able to make profits before the whole thing crashes down.
