Seeking Donations For A Charitable Purpose

I am seeking donations for charity. I hope members here will be generous enough to contribute towards a worthy cause that will help alleviate the stress and pain a family are suffering.

They have managed to cover their basic regular monthly living costs but now have to cover huge medical bills after one of their family was unexpectedly diagnosed with a serious illness recently. Other than very limited, they are not receiving any form of financial or medical assistance so they are in need of help.

Any donations received will help the family pay for ongoing medical costs incurred and they would appreciate it very much.

I am not seeking a loan now. Initially I was seeking an interest-free loan which would be repaid at a rate of $100 over a period of several weeks but that has now been covered and arranged by a kind forum member.



 OTHER INFORMATION  
For a multitude of reasons I am unable to elaborate further in public about the cause and those receiving the funds but depending on the relationship I have with certain members maybe I might be able to provide more details via PM to them if they need more information before donating.

For those members that feel unhappy or uneasy about assisting because of the lack of information provided, I would like to thank you for stopping by to read this thread and advise you to only donate if you feel confident otherwise please do not donate.

This is the first time I have created a thread regarding fundraising for a worthy cause. I have never been a supporter of threads where members are asking for donations and I have always had a policy of never to donate to causes through this forum simply because I can always donate to worthy causes directly and because I am never 100% sure donations made through the forum will reach the desired end point after various middle-people have the funds passed through them, so for that reason if you decide not to contribute I completely understand.

For those members that trust me enough to consider assisting, I would like to thank you for whatever manner in which you contribute. On my part I have applied due-diligence and am 100% confident about this cause otherwise I would never have attached my name or my reputation on it. The funds will be sent to (and then converted to local currency through) a middle-person then handed to the family. I have checks and balances in place, I am 100% confident.

I have set aside a personal donation of at least 0.085 BTC towards this cause and will try to send the funds as soon as possible, depending on circumstances but either way I will update this thread when funds are moved. If the final amount reaches at around 0.15 BTC then that would be a wonderful amount that would make a big difference to the recipients.

I will not be asking for then sharing post-donation photographs or providing regular updates but I will post occasionally related to the treatment and health of the recipient because those that helped support the cause would probably like to know about the recovery process.

Hello there and TBH, I'm happy to hear that you make such a thread/ effort to help people. It's not easy at all and I know it firsthand...
I have some questions, some of them though are related to the details of this charity. I will only ask those who do not need to reveal such details.

1- Who guarantees that any of these loans will be repaid on time? And will be repaid? I'm guessing that collateral is out of the picture.
2- If you are the one who guarantees the repayments, can you sign a message from a staked address of yours?
3- Those donations/ loans will have a closed status if someone offers to fill one/ all of them or can anyone fill them more than once? Maybe it will be good to clarify it, since you say that you can repay ~$400 per week.
4- You will hold any kind of ledger publicly regarding the loans and the donations?

You are right, it really is not easy trying to fundraise especially if this is the first time an attempt was made but I hope it will be bring some benefit to the recipient. Thank you for your questions and comments. I am answering your points below:

1- I will offer the guarantee. You are right collateral will not be provided for this fundraiser

2- Yes I can sign a message with sufficient funds which would protect any lender from losses

3- The loan amounts mentioned were not slots, they were examples. I am not looking to have more than one lender because the repayment terms will be fixed at $100 per week. An ideal scenario would be for one lender being kind enough to offer an interest-free loan of at least $400 which will be paid back at $100 a week over a 4 week period. $400 will go a long way to contribute towards covering their expenses

I don't want to ruin your deal, it’s great to see an initiative like this as well as a @condoras desire to help.
you may not have best defined this deal. Jolly you will probably repay value in USD because you tied it to some secure income. But six weeks for the value of bitcoin is a very long period, and it can very easily happen that you end up paying less bitcoin, and yet you sent in all $600. which would be unfair to the lender, who gave a loan without interest.
Just my 2 cents here.

I really am very grateful that you offered to help, in the end it cannot be easy entering in to an arrangement with a forum member you never really engaged with before because there is no evidence provided and not everybody would take my word. We have not really communicated with each other before so it has been good getting to know you, thank you.

I completely understand the apprehension you might have to this request (or deal) but at the end of the day it was never about trading, business and pocketing cash for profit sake, it was about trying to help out a family pay their medical bills after one of them unexpectedly became serious ill.

It was precisely because of fluctuation in price that I wanted the interest-free loan to be received and repaid in USD$ because it protects me if BTC goes up in value whereas the lender though might incur a possible loss in BTC terms would never be at loss in USD$ terms as far as the loan would be concerned and I am presuming the lender would accept that because this whole process was for charitable purposes only. I am also grateful for any and all that have taken an interest in this thread, I really do appreciate the comments. I think I will have to create a similar one in the Services section so potential donors could see it.

Even though the interest-free loan part is sorted out I am still seeking donations so if anybody can help please do consider donating. So far there have been zero donations but I hope that will change soon. Thank you.

So far funds have not been sent from the 0.09934 BTC yet but donations from non-crypto sources have been made and they have been received with much gratitude. I still hope to send the BTC soon, just having to wait on a few details beforehand.
