What do you call Betting in your culture?

Is it acceptable to Bet (not necessarily with money) in your culture/language?  Still trying to understand why the modern world hardly see it as something we should engage in. The funny thing about this is that most humans today regularly or occasionally Bet without realizing it.
Do you know that the Holy Bible didn't condemn betting? infact, servants of the CREATOR even engaged in betting to help them determine the mind of the CREATOR on something. It's actually called "Lot" (casting Lot or something)
So, what do you call it in your culture, is it considered a bad thing, if yes ,why?

What I've heard the most is that the game is a bad habit. There are people who have ended up ruined by gambling, though they are far from the norm, and I tend to believe that those people, even if the game didn't exist, would have ruined their lives otherwise. In other words, gambling problems are a symptom, not the cause.

In my country betting is very common. In every large Street we have at least bookmaker chain. And even though betting is only above 18 years, there is tons of advertising everywhere. I always thought that the bible prohibits gambling and betting for money. But I am not really religious, so I don't follow the bible.

Christianity followed by most of the people in thisnworld followed by other religions but as per the Bible money that comes from the greed state of your mind then its not going to withstand and also said the same in multiple statements and all of them are against free money so its good as long as you know that you are mot doing it for making money.

Game isn't bad. It's the habit that makes it bad when you're playing too much of it and it affects your normal life.

When they've out of control, that's the problem start to exist and it's hard to deal with it because they cannot even beat it on their own. Mostly, they need a helping hand to overcome it.

You are looking for the terms used for betting in other languages? Still the meaning of the betting is going to be betting and every religion differs from one another so if you are following one then it may be right for you but it doesn't mean others were wrong.

From the old age the betting existed in different forms even there are some kings lost their wife to other kings while betting.

In Philippines there are so many names for it or terms it would depend on how and what game would it be.
For betting I think it would Pusta when you are betting on something,
And now the famous term when it comes to cockfight is Talpak.
And also gambling or betting could also be called Sugal and the heavy or addicted to it are called Sugarol.
And it isn't considered as a bad thing at all it just depends on how you would handle it.

Gambling is forbidden in my culture and it's illegal gambling silently consumes an individual's thoughts actions and behaviors even after repeated attempts. Gradually all economic family or social relationships start to deteriorate then the person becomes a explanation for mental disease someone within the name of business someone with the offer of lucrative rewards is spreading it through the holes of society. In many cases it's seen that the influential people of the society provide fuel behind it during many of us know that what they're doing is illegal or unjust.

I think that is because people know that bet, whether to use money or not, is prohibited in their religion. But some people who know about that will be okay to gamble.

Maybe when people gamble, they will use money and risk that to make money. If that is free money from the other needs, maybe that will be okay. But if that money is for buying food, that will not be okay. It depends on each person's perception because we can not blame people who are still playing gambling.

Interesting. But I'm actually talking about betting not gambling (taking big risk). Ofcourse, I'm aware that gambling is prohibited by certain society or religion(like Christianity). Gambling is actually immoral but what I'm referring to is Betting, Prediction or Lottery, they are actually not immoral if done in moderation or with safe games/competitions/event. It's OK to use betting, lottery (casting lots) to randomly distribute prize/values to winners. I still don't see anything wrong in that. But it's not ok to gamble or take big risk in betting, lottery or prediction market, those are gambling actually.

Depend on what kind of betting we are talking here , But if this is about Living then i am betting also for my life .

What source are you using for that information? It is inaccurate. Christianity is concerned about gambling due to the dangers it poses to individuals, families and society, but gambling and games of chance are not prohibited by Christianity.

In my culture, I believe casual betting between friends or on major sporting events is fully acceptable. Nothing more than a few dollars though. When you starting getting into hundreds or thousands of dollars (Canada), it starts to become unacceptable among most people. If you do it most days, people will believe you have a serious problem.

Gambling can lead to addiction and gambling addiction can cause a family breakdown. I personally think that thought is acceptable but if gambling can still be controlled then it will definitely have no effect on the family. I still play betting but only bet with my favorite football team, I'm not an addict.

As long as you're not doing anything wrong against to the law and you're uncertain with that then it's better to do nothing.
