I invested $350 in BTC the next day my portfolio was $0. This was due to the recent crash in BTC. The amount of BTC purchased was still there but the dollar value vanished. Then when BTC started rising the dollar started coming up minimally. My question is, as at when my portfolio was zero, where did my money go? And when it started adding again, where was it coming from?
Thanks!

LAST EDIT
I am very much sorry for stressing us on this thread. I am however sad that I created a topic that is grossly misconstrued by many, even after I edited it. Maybe I employed two methods of typing that contradicted the original idea I was trying to pass. I personalized the whole idea by using "I invested" instead of using "if you invest". Secondly, I employed a figure of speech 'hyperbole' where I was not supposed to by saying the portfolio dropped from $350 to $0.

It was @Darker45 that understood differently and who understood the message I passed. Which is trying to know where my money goes if there is dip and where it comes from if there is bull.
I sincerely apologise for the poorly constructed Op.
Thank you for understanding and sorry for the inconveniences this might cause you.

In which platform have you purchased BTC? Where you have stored your BTC; which wallet you have used to store the BTC? Please add more information, otherwise, no one will be able to help you find out the problem you had.

According to what you said is that Bitcoin still there but only the total amount in USD is gone or turn to $0?
Am I right?

If that's the case the website or exchange where you bought Bitcoin might have a bug showing the total price of your BTC but since your BTC still there it's safe.

Can you tell us what site is this?

You can report the bug on the website support I don't know what exchange you are using but only support can help you about this issue.

It was most likely a site bug. You might want to tell us the site as a bug like that might not matter, or it might mean there are a lot of other problems with them (and the second one might be more likely - especially if you didn't read their reviews and do some research).

What matters is that you can still see the amount of bitcoin you have in your wallet. Not because the dollar value disappeared doesn't automatically mean that you lost your bitcoin. It's most likely just a bug with the wallet's price API.

What wallet are you using in the first place?

You have $300+ and it turned Zero that's a really big dip  Grin

In reality, it's not possible to happen even if you bought that $300 BTC of yours when the price of BTC is more than $60k. You should have it at least $150+ still but if it's now zero, that means you don't have any BTC at all in your account. What they are asking for you OP is to write down how did you do it and which exchange?

Im confused with your case how come your btc would be worth zero if you just hold it? This is near impossible to turn into zero even btc go drop 90% unless you are teading via future contract or margin trading with leverage. There is a chance of liquidation on your asset. Im thinking that instead of spot trading you did this and thats why you turn your btc into zero.

Any update on your case OP?

My question is, as at when my portfolio was zero, where did my money go? And when it started adding again, where was it coming from?

Now, let me understand your question differently. Others have already responded to the possible technical side of your confusion.

Anyway, if you are asking about the dollar value to your portfolio, it is actually just paper value. Meaning to say, you don't actually have it. Those are just numbers. If your Bitcoin portfolio's value, for example, changes from $10,000 to $1 and then from $1 to $50,000, it doesn't mean there is actually money in that amount which moved from somewhere to somewhere else. No money changed hands.

Those numbers will only be realized if you sell. By then, there is someone else on the other side who would provide you the real amount for your Bitcoin's fiat worth.

Did you buy BTC or BTC future? Or any other BTCBULL/BEAR kinda leverage token? If so, it’s possible that your amount got devalued hugely and now with the price changes, it’s acting accordingly. Still, your thread is not clear at all. Share about the platform you used to purchase (if you have no issue sharing); at least someone can share if something bug happened in that particular platform.

You still didn't explain where you bought these bitcoins and where are they stored?
You keep repeating the word "portfolio" which makes me ask if you have actually bought "bitcoin" or something else including some tokens that might have gotten dumped to zero or you bought BTC futures not BTC.

In any case if you actually own bitcoin and there is a price drop it will never be to zero. For example even if you bought bitcoin before the drop at $60k you should have 0.00588BTC which is now worth $196.3 not zero.

It doesn't matter if the market is in a bullish trend or in a bearish trend, the amount of bitcoin you have in your wallet will remain always the same. However, it's value in USD (for example) will be affected by the market condition.
i.e: If you have 1 btc in your wallet and bitcoin price in USD (for some reason) go down to 100USD, then you will still have 1 btc but if you sell it you will get 100USD in exchange. The same thing if the price goes down to zero, your bitcoin will be worthless in terms of Dollar.
