Personally I don't have any pets which we are using as edible items but in the old days we used to have bulls if I am not wrong so no one in my house doesn't eat beef meant but they eat others chicken, eggs, etc.

And also I know people who grow animals like goats for the meat purpose as well so it depends on how we see it.

In some countries goats are animals with a special relationship to its owners, I don't think they could kill and eat them. It feels like a bond we see between cats, dogs or horses in other countries. There is no way I would ever eat dog or cat meat. Humans eat too much meat anyways, better let them live and start eating some biological alternatives. Have you ever tried tofu?

I've never had any other animals besides dogs, so maybe I can't really answer this question well...

but if I have a goat like that, I will definitely sell it so it doesn't interfere with my performance because taking care of goats is quite heavy and the droppings are always scattered everywhere.

I have a friend who had some goats cleaning up weeds on a property he owned. His family became friendly with the goats and treated them as pets. That led to the goats acting more like pets than workers and they would end up hanging around near the residence waiting for attention instead of doing their jobs. As a response, my friend slaughtered and ate the goats, then bought more and asked his family to leave them alone. It worked and there was no more goat eating… Not quite the same, but in this story it was the compassion for goats that led to their demise.

As the person who develop personal touch with the goat i'll rather sell it out than killing him and eat him. Not sure why
but getting attached with the animal lead me not to like eating them.

There are people who raise those kind of animal in one particular reason, to use them for their feast but they are not
engaging or using any personal thing as how OP state his close relationship with the animal.

I would keep them as a pet.

I don't intend to kill a pet when it has already made a bond with me. The relationship that I've built with that pet is better to be seen ending up when it goes into natural death.

I’m a meat eater but if I had to deal with live stock or something on an every day basis I’d probably convert & become a veggie. I couldn’t bond with an animal & then play a role in killing it.

I don't think it should be like that, we may choose some animals as pet so we can avoid that species from our meal but I am not going to entirely cut meats from my meal just because I love a species, because if everyone started to think like that then food cycle will get disturbed.

Goat is a farm animal intended for milk and eating. If you treat him as pet then its your relationship with them but for some its for consumption.

There are some exceptions like cows which is sacred for Indians, they somehow don't eat them afaik because they make it related to their religion I think. Rabbits are also eating particularly for the hunters. It's even delicacy since meat tastes like chicken. Rabbits breed faster which I guess if not eaten, they will populate faster.

Personally , there are animals that we usually have as Pet and yeah we really love those kind like My Dog and Cat and also my Rabbit and Hamster .

I do love them and i will never have a guts to kill and eat them because i treat them as part of the family(Not unless there is a Hunger time that i have no choice but to eat them to survive)

but Animals like Goat? they are being breed to be a Source of Milk and Meat , but once you have them as Pet then the story change , yiu will treat them as love one .

I am hard to kill my lovely pets but maybe I will sell the goats. I prefer to buy goat meat than to kill my goat. Or the other option is just to let them live.

Animals and humans have a relationship that can not say because that is related to our hearts. The animal knows how we love them and that is real and can be proven.

I Love exotic foods, i even eaten crocs and Whales and sharks in exotic restaurant .

I staid with a distant cousin on their Hanwoo farm and every day I would hear the animals being slaughtered.  It was awful after being playful with them says before.

That's disgusting ,Eating animal you love? this is not far from being cannibal because when we love the animal we almost treat them as human like us (though of course they are not)

I will likely just consume their milk, use their droppings as manure, use them for clearing weed or for keeping the grasses low/trimmed as someone mentioned above.

Once we are bonded, I doubt I could ever kill or eat them without throwing up

It would depend what kind of animal you are referring.
There are animals that I think I wouldn't try to eat even if their meat is edible.
For example Dog Meat or even Cat Meat, I see a lot of post recently selling rabbit meat but I think I could give it a try.

Just try eating a pet while it is alive, and it suddenly won't be so friendly. Then you can more easily forget the former kindness you had for it.

Like most carnivores, I have no problem eating friendly animals. Most of the animals we eat are selectively bred specifically for friendliness, in fact. You ever try eating a non-friendly animal? It's much more difficult; it's always trying to eat you first. Best stick with the friendly ones.

Friendly animal example: Rabbit. Easy to eat. Goes good with hot sauce.


Unfriendly animal example: Neptunian slug. Difficult to eat. Cast-iron cookware recommended.

Many people in developing countries cannot afford meat but can carry insects reduction which creates economic opportunities for those who do it in developing countries most of these people are women living in rural areas. Globally the most dangerous underground insect of all insect species that makes sense is because 40 percent of insects are insects also used to eat rabbits, yellow dinosaurs and superworms reptiles and fish.
