Yes, a strong family can save a person from many problems. It is a pity that in the modern world the family is gradually collapsing, or simply people find it difficult to find their soulmates and being alone in life easily succumb to the influence of negative factors. Then one day, when I realized this situation, I took a decision and decided not to be involved in any way for 3-6 months. For me, yes it can be considered as addiction to gambling if you're thinking about it while sleeping. I think addiction is already apparent if it interferes with your daily routine and what you should be doing in life compared to gambling all the time. There was a period in my life when I was addicted to gambling.  

I became addicted to gambling and lost touch with reality.  I recall this situation as a nightmare.  I was an inadequate person.  I only thought about roulette.  

All other joys of life have lost all meaning for me.  I forgot about sex, about delicious food ...

I don't even remember what the weather was like at that time!  I only dreamed of winning.  All my emotions were related to gambling.

Well, that's the most good way to make a gambling addict to stop gambling or control their urge to gamble. I have seen a television news in my country on 2017 where a gambling addict ask the gaming corporation to banned him for months or years from entering any established casino. It just proves that even if you are a gambling addict, you can find a way to control your urge to gamble if that person is desperate to stop being a gambling addict. I don't see any information though j whether that person have family support or not and of he did go to a rehabilitationcenter but good for him to make a decision like that.
