Hey yall. Ive just started mining in the last week after watching a bunch of vids and doing some basic setup homework. Just trying to get a decent base going while I get more in depth with everything but I'm having a problem. Ive been trying to fix the issue myself but I dont know what else to look for at this point. According to all I'm seeing, a RX 6800 should be getting ~60 MH/s with a few tweaks to its OC. Unfortunately, Im seeing nothing even remotely close to that. In fact, using the generally "optimized" basic OC settings are netting me a reduction in hashrate. Using current Radeon 21.5.2 drivers on Windows 7. I have also tried using previous version of the driver back to 21.3.1 and a few in between. Also tried Afterburner in lieu of Radeon software. Im using Phoenix Miner 5.6d on ethermines uswest server. No BIOS modification. Keeping temps stable @ ~70*.

The best I am able to do is ~26 MH/s @ ~125W. This is in stock form with the exception of bumping the memory frequency to 2100.

Using the same OC settings I've seen several different times now grants me a reduction to ~17 MH/s @ ~80W. (Core voltage: 800mv, Core clock: 1200Mhz, Memory clock: 2100Mhz)

Experimenting seems to show that core voltage and memory clock changes have minimal effect on changing the hashrate. Core clock seems to be the main driver of this 9 MH/s gap. When I start to bump it up the hashrate goes up with it, seemingly opposite of what I would expect.

Another thing I noticed, after letting it mine for ~20 hours in 3 different instances, my stales were at ~40%. Im pretty certain this is abnormally high and is in some way related to the hashrate issue, but I figured I'd mention it it the case in tells you experienced users something.

Ive tried both other miners and other pools, but clearly I'm missing something. I obviously know less then the little I think I know; at this point, assume I know nothing.

Please Help, and thanks to anyone that even bothered to read this.

Suggestion:

You haven't got a response from members for hours because you posted in the wrong board, so people hear don't have much information or experience about mining gear.
I propose you move this topic to Mining (Altcoins) Board. It could catch the attention of a couple of people with experience in mining, and they could help point out what's the cause of the problem.

To move the topic there, please click on "move topic" which you can find at the bottom left of this page.

Enable compute mode if new drivers still have it
https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/dh-024
I have already stopped mining on Windows.
Do not use Windows 7 for mining, Install Windows 10,
Set parameters
Core frequency 1500
Memory frequency 2100
Core voltage (mV) 850 -1000
and you will get 60-64 megahash

Unless you have a physical problem with your card here are the best settings for Phoenix miner or Team Red Miner,if you have not a mixed rig with only AMD cards go for the Team Red Miner.

Core voltage VDD: 800
Power limit:N/A
Core Clock: 1200
Memory Clock: 2150 max but I keep at 2100 for stability

You should be able to get about 63 Mhsh at 150 watt with Memory Clock 2150 and about 62 Mhsh at 150 watt for Memory Clock at 2100.
These settings are for Windows 10 fully updated and the latest Adrenaline driver.

AMD cards don't come prebuilt with compute mode bro they are available through AMD drivers not the cards, if you can't find compute mode it's definitely your driver, download another and check again

If you no longer need to select the calculation mode in the driver settings for new video cards, then most likely SumDumFuk has a problem with the operating system, which it needs to reinstall on Windows 10.

RX6800XT is a pretty impressive GPU, it can reach 64MH mining Ethereum with just 135watt of power but the price of this GPU is really high, I'd rather buy two Rx Vega 56 for mining which can give me 100MH mining ETH with 600$ each per Vega right now and RX6800XT costs 1450-1550$, RX Vega is better

Vega 56 Very old video cards.
Of course, they are now mining better at 50-55 mehahesh each, but will they be the best in six months?
Prices for video cards are constantly falling because the demand for miners has decreased. If you do not know that you will be mining after Ethereum, then now it is better not to invest in mining.

Vega aren't the best but they just happen to perform better in ergo and cryptonight algorithm due to their hbm2 memory, I still prefer rx5700xt over Vega because of efficiency but I can bet with you that Vega will survive in crypto mining space for a longer time than just 6 months just like how rx570 and rx580 are still kicking ass today

I think that Vega 56 will survive a long time.If Eth goes to 2.0 there is ERGO which Vega 56 is super efficient at 120W for 104 Mhsh(minerstat settings) and they are doing somewhat well in KawPow algorithm at 17 Mhsh so they have options to mine even after Eth goes 2.0 and stops PoW mining.

I don't suggest buying them now as there are other better efficiency cards, but if you happen to have them lying around it is time to put them into heavy work.

I have the same problem, 6700XT and only 29 Mh/s max. If I lower the core frequency to around 1400 Mhz, then I get only 22 Mh/s.

And I too am on - Windows 7 (<-culprit found!).

That's the error there, new Adrenaline drivers are designed to work better with up to date operating systems like Windows 10 and as we all know Windows 7 has lost support and updates from Microsoft and their partners since January 2020.You have to upgrade in order to get that full 47 Mhsh squeeze from your RX 6700 XT.

Miners did not immediately learn how to optimize Vega video cards for mining, so at that time it was easier to buy a RX 470 or RX 480 video card. The RX 480 will work for a long time if electricity is inexpensive and Vega video cards are no exception.
I prefer the rx5600 because they are very quiet and have low power consumption.
