This thread will be used as a place to discuss all competitions conducted by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), not limited to both the junior and senior teams. For the next competition, the U-23 Asian Cup which will take place in 2022. The following is a list of the participating teams/nations.

Is this a qualifiers for FIFA or not? Also what's the Host in some of the countries? Are each group held in the host's country or something like that? Really happy to see my country Philippines in there but I am not that hopeful that they will make it out of their group let alone their bracket, they're not the biggest players in the region.

Yeah I'd be happy if this would go on. Every country I perform I'm always excited to watch. Even though they were bad in qualifying for the world cup yesterday, I still support my country. Indonesia will be the host of course this is an advantage even without spectators. If you look at the list of participants, the Indonesian group has a pretty tough opponent. I hope they can qualify even though I know Indonesia is building a national team with a new coach.

It seems so, I guess there would be tight competitions for each national team in order to climb up the top group standings. Although Indonesia has the advantage as the host still this could be a difficult journey for them even just to reach the runner-up position.

Frankly, I am very pessimistic that Indonesia can go far in the AFC U23 competition in 2022, because if you look at the opponents that the Indonesian national team must face, it is certainly not an easy opponent, namely China, Australia and also Brunei Darussalam, and it can be said that maybe only the Australian and Brunei Darussalam national  team alone has never faced the Indonesian U23 national team so far, so they are a little blind to the strength of  Indonesian Team, but even so, maybe only Brunei Darussalam can be said if it is weaker than the Indonesian national team in group G, while China and Australia are two teams that have performed quite well so far in the AFC U23 competition and of course are strong opponents for Indonesia to compete pass the group phase later.

It's an  Asian Cup U23  match and I see almost all players from every country are youth players U23 including my country
Philippines will compete with Singapore because South Korea is predicted to pass,as for Indonesia, my country is between Australia and China this is really a tough group

Frankly, I am very pessimistic that Indonesia can go far in the AFC U23 competition in 2022, because if you look at the opponents that the Indonesian national team must face, it is certainly not an easy opponent, namely China, Australia and also Brunei Darussalam, and it can be said that maybe only the Australian and Brunei Darussalam national  team alone has never faced the Indonesian U23 national team so far, so they are a little blind to the strength of  Indonesian Team, but even so, maybe only Brunei Darussalam can be said if it is weaker than the Indonesian national team in group G, while China and Australia are two teams that have performed quite well so far in the AFC U23 competition and of course are strong opponents for Indonesia to compete pass the group phase later.

Yes, we can't expect much from Indonesia, because of the 4 teams that will qualify for the final round, only positions 1 & 2 will fill the slots. It seems that until October 2021 Indonesian players will have a shortage of training portions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still high to this day. In fact, I am also not sure whether Indonesia will remain the host, or will it be moved, because Covid-19 seems difficult to end. from this condition, Indonesia may not be able to play optimally, and further increase the weakness of Indonesian players. Sure enough, Brunei could be better than Indonesia. But, I wish I'm wrong, I wish there will be a "miracle" for Indonesia to join final rounds.

Yes, we can't expect much from Indonesia, because of the 4 teams that will qualify for the final round, only positions 1 & 2 will fill the slots.

Keep in mind that it still on the qualifiers stage, being 2nd position (runner-up) in the current stage doesn't mean the teams would pass to the group stage (16 best national teams). Only 4 best runner-up teams would pass to the group stage, I'm not sure what kind of method which used in order to determine those best runner-up teams whether there would be another match or choose it based on the team's performance in the qualifiers stage

Seeing the current opponents, the pandemic situation we encountered, and the fact that Indonesia never passes to the group stage since 2013, like it or not we need a "miracle" as you said for that's become true, lol.

the host factor cannot be considered a big advantage in a football competition in the current pandemic era, moreover we know that the Indonesian government is currently implementing strict health protocols and it is possible that the match will not be able to be attended by Indonesian fans and guest team supporters. If you look at the strength of the teams that are in Group, Of course, it is very unlikely that Indonesia will be able to escape from the group phase, because it can be said that the two giant Asian teams namely China and Australia will be very difficult to beat.

Only 4 best runner-up teams would pass to the group stage, I'm not sure what kind of method which used in order to determine those best runner-up teams whether there would be another match or choose it based on the team's performance in the qualifiers stage

Yes, thats what i mean, 1^st postions and 4 from 2^nd positions.

the chance to be qualified maybe 0,1% is good enough for Indonesia. haha,

I think the ASEAN representatives who might qualify are Thailand and Vietnam, because these two teams have shown very significant improvements in recent years and from the group side, they have a pretty good chance. Vietnam may be quite difficult compared to Thailand, but, the strength of Hong Kong and Taipei, I think is still on averages of Vietnam's ability.

Indeed it's not a big deal as you said, but I believe with or without supporters it would give a morale boost and confidence to the players particularly for those who do their first debut in such a formal event.

Yeah both Vietnam and Thailand have quite good track records in the last 2 AFC cup, they are always qualified to 16 best national teams. Even Vietnam got claimed the runner-up title in AFC 2018 after being defeated by Uzbekistan

You are too early to say this, even the competition isn't starting yet.
If you are from Indonesia, really sad to see an Indonesian who delivers a negative statement about your national team.
Sure, we must be realistic, but why not keep optimism first.

I agree if it is a scary group, but nothing is impossible in a football competition. A chance isn't only for a strong team, a weaker team also has the same.
Based on the opponent teams, China and Australia are the stronger teams in Group G. They have quality players and have better experience in international competition. Of course, Indonesia will have tough matches, but I disagree if no chance to qualify. If Indonesia can make 1 draw and 1 win against China-Australia, there is a chance to qualify to the next stage.

The competition has not yet started because of the Covid pandemic, which makes people have less confidence. Actually, fresh air came, many social media stated that Indonesia would soon start the competition. But this week covid spiked, and PSSi postponed its league. Indonesian players are good but they do not have adequate mental and physical.

I did the same. Even if PSSI management looks bad, but never ends to support our national team. All Indonesian players deserve to be supported because they are struggling for the country. Let's put aside about PSSI first, focus on supporting them.

We always experienced bad mentality and physicality during the match. It is a classic problem, but I can see some improvement lately. Especially if we look at how Indonesian players are already brave enough to play with high offensive, have the initiative to get the ball possession, and trying much to play at the opponent's area. It is much better than previously. Regarding physical improvement, I heard it is already done with some specific programs. I hope it can be clearly visible in this competition.

Yes, I always hope that way, even though sometimes during matches I am very angry, I really want to shout on the sidelines encouraging them.

Another that the last news I heard was that China was not convinced by Indonesia to be the host, because Covid cases continued to increase every day.

If you look at the FIFA ranking table, of course, only Brunei Darussalam is below us. Australia is ranked 41, China is ranked 141. Indonesia itself is in position 173 at this time and only Brunei Darussalam is below Indonesia, which is ranked 189. If you analyze this, the chances of Indonesia being ranked second are quite large. Moreover, Indonesia as the host if that happens, because I heard news that Indonesia is getting worse because of Covid-19. I think Australia will be the Favorites in this group to qualify. as you said the qualifiers weren't that exciting, and the adrenaline wasn't too thrilling when we watched EURO yesterday. game class shows its quality. but even so, we still support their ball game which maybe 10 years later they will be very influential in the world game. and for now there are more things we are waiting for to welcome the world cup next year. and of course big bets will be more challenging.

It should depend on the situation in that country. If the situation is the same as in Indonesia nowadays, their leagues probably will be delayed as well. But if the situation in other countries is quite safe and no issues about Covid19, their leagues can continue.

I think it is normal if China doubts Indonesia to be the host. We can see the situation in our country looks very bad because of Covid19. There is no certain time about the end of this situation. So, probably China or another country will suggest moving the host to another country. Well, let's hope it won't happen and Covid19 will be over soon.

Thanks to yesterday victory in the match against Turkmenistan at the Manahan stadium with the result 2 - 0 Indonesia coached by Shin Tae-Yong managed to qualify for the 2024 U23 finals and will be held in April 2024.
Now Shin Tae-Yong is the only coach worthy of Indonesia and thanks to his hard work Indonesia has succeeded in proving that they can indeed win at this important event on the Asian stage.
Qatar will be a country that can witness Indonesia next year competing in the U23 Asian Cup and fighting for the championship title even though there are 16 national teams that will compete there there will only be one that can be the strongest and take home title U23 Asian.
