The forum is free for all to express their thoughts and opinions to dicuss with other as well that might get interested in the topic. However, merit hunting became a problems to others like IDK what is their problem but it seems they had some issues with merits.

First of all merits are decentralized and everyone can received or give if he had some smerits to give. There is no such rules in rewarding except that if you like the post, had some sense of humor, informational, ideas or opinion to be shared or that might trigger your interest then you are free to reward it. This is the merit ruling even if you just laugh with haha in a reply one could still get amount of merits depending on the one who gave the merits.

Eventually, nowadays if you have to share your ideas and thoughts that has some a little bit of explanation that came out to be a lengthy post it can be considered as merit hunting. It is probably the result of which it is not ideal to read lengthy post because of you limited time and instead will pursue on replying because you need to comply the reuired post in your bounty.

Well, I have nothing against merit hunting as long as the context does not ask for merits. Others are thinking that when you expressed your thoughts and ideas you could be judge as merit hunting. Well that could be their problem having that kind of mindset. I am nothing against them and only exercising the freedom to express which the forum does not limit this kind of activity.

My opinion is different, whenever I see a lengthy post and the topic is within my interest I will going to love reading it depend on the user posted the posts because there are really users that are good in expressing their thoughts and  ideas. At the same time, I will not label it as a merit hunting especially if it is out of merit asking context.

Well, if you have a problem with lengthy post and consider as trash better skip reading it and proceed with the next post or topic posted by others. However, if you wish to reply something rude then still it will be welcome. We are all free to expressed our thoughts and opinion.

As long as there's someone (theymos) managing the forum, whatever we own here does not belong to us. Merits included. This forum is centralized because all of our account information are stored on servers accessible by the admin(s).

If someone commits an offense, he/ she gets suspended. No access to account. Worst case scenario, plagiarism and au revoir, he/ she loses access to it permanently. All Merits owned and hoarded are gone forever.

eh, where did you get this from? as far as i can remember, "the rule" is to give a merit to a quality post according to your own standard, not because you like it. not saying nobody does what you say though, since we can't really control it.

You were right in there buddy. However, admins are not strict when it comes to user accounts and does not require personal information when you register the accounts like doing KYC. Even if it is centralized but admin wanted to keep it like in decentralized manner where you can do things what you want by being anonymous or using pseudonames. The Admin only will going to interfere when you or the account had been severely violated the forum rules and regulations.

Dont temp others to be rude. Sometimes they are just replying based on the topic and dont get mad its a forum everyone is free to express their opinion. Block of wall post usually arent good for some but depends on the others perspective.

Merit hunting is much better to be natural. No problem on some that creates a lot of topics to be noticed as lomg as they can keep up with their senses or knew what they are posting. Better post always come with a good research.

First of all, merits aren't decentralized, you probably wanted to mean something else. They're units of the forum which are maintained by a person. We aren't running nodes for merit's distribution. They're neither deflationary, but highly inflationary so spend them!

Uhmm no, OP.
If you were reading around the forum back in 2018 as a Guest, the year that merit system was implemented, since you registered here this year, you'll see a lot of random users just posting in Meta with their lengthy post about their thoughts about Merit. [oh the days..]

The thing is there are people reiterating the same thing over and over again in a thread and they think that just because they did a well-written and long post in that means that it is a merit worthy. It is becoming a merit hunt, merit fishing or whatever you call it. This is why many lower ranks especially newbies are being advised to get a good read first by those users that have plenty of knowledge around the forum.

If there is an existing thread that relates to your thoughts about a certain topic, just do it there, join the conversation as long as the topic is still relevant and in there, share whatever your thoughts are in a particular topic.

You are absolutely wrong about how merit should be used.

You can see some people use merit in the way that is not recommended but it does not represents correctly.
Merit & new rank requirements. Read that topic and I believe most of people follow the guide from theymos.

Generally, merit system works since 2018: to prevent spammers rank up; to help good members rank up higher.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.
 - Highlighting good posts with the "Merited by" line.

While we will not be directly moderating this, I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

If you make ten thousand posts in a week, your activity will be capped and you will still be a Newbie. If you make ten thousand useless posts over any period of time, you will gain zero merit and you will still be a Newbie. You can rank up only by making good posts consistently. It's quality over quantity.

When trying to write quality posts, a lot of people act as though they're writing a book report for school: putting facts that we already know into their own words. Nobody wants to read that, and you will not get merit for it. Moreover, the length of your post and the quality of your English are only minor factors. In trying to write a quality post worthy of merit, you should offer new ideas, personal experiences, or perspectives that other forum users will actually find new and interesting.

Yeah, I made a lot of mistakes as well and just realize after the replies I made that I somehow committed a lot of it. But sometimes the forum is the one that could make me feel better through expressing my thoughts and opinions though sometimes it came out to be a lengthy posts.

Low rank users had been too much for violating forum rules and regulations. This is why I will not blame that those who wanted and committed to keep the forum away from those violating users/members making their time and hardwork should not be put to waste. I commend those users like you buddy who always get in action kicking out those spammers.

I am pretty sure that becoming rude may sometimes help and will be needed in dealing with the forum violators. Mind you that there are really hard headed low rank members like a pest doing plague making it worst if no one will going to them to stop. Again, I commend the works of others mostly legendary, hero and other low rank  users committed to do the job even without pay.

I know that we have the same belief that cryptocurrency is the future and one of the best innvovation so far in this era. I had so much faith on cryptocurrency. Doing Bounty hunting is just a trash here and should not be seriously focus but mind you in the future those coins collected might be put to good use as well. Who knows? If you really love cryptocurrency you gotta hold whatever you had.

I agree with your statement.

The problem with most beginner accounts is that they are focused too much on ranking-up to the point that their post quality suffers from the process. They attempt to create guides that had been discussed by other veteran members in hopes of receiving a merit. I mean, while I do commend their effort, nonetheless, they must do it in a fashion that would be beneficial to the forum.

Ever since the merit system was introduced, lots of newbies are complaining about on how difficult it is to gain one.

I read some advice from established members. After the advices, I stood my ground on the way to go. All you need do is to be you. Just be your original self. Don't try to alter yourself to please anyone. At any time in life you have an opportunity to do something, put in your best, there might not be a second chance.
You may not have a second chance to create a topic as "Merit Hunting" again, so you needed to put in your best in this one, whether lengthy or short.
Do you actually need to consider what people will say?
Create lengthy posts they will call it merit hunting .
Create short uninteresting post, they will call you a shit poster.
Just do what gives you joy and add value to the forum, no matter how long or short.

Op, you shouldn't worry about creating useful post or getting merit. You'll get merit by joining discussion and  just be yourself no matter how harsh some replies it might be after all we are here to share, discuss and help. That's all.

Are you a seer?. You have reminded me what I am before where I got mad or get hurt when someone criticise me but thanks to those people it made me better and thick face I mean thick skin to read criticism like nothing at all. I am glad you mentioned this one as it made me laugh at myself what I was once before.

Probably, I went through the same thing, so sometimes I try to hook newbies who are trying to prove something to everyone by creating posts of the same type. You cannot always greet everyone with a carrot, sometimes you need to create a situation for a person to get angry and want to prove that he can do more than just copying and paraphrasing old topics.


As for merit, today, after the number of merit sources has increased, and in addition to that they have added the number of merits for the distribution, raising the rank has become quite easy.
I look with pity on those newbies who have not yet figured it out. Above,  wrote the right advice for newbies, be sincere, and do not portray yourself as someone who you are not.
If, for example, a student begins to prove to everyone that he is a professor and is well versed in medicine, how many people will believe him? On the forum in the same way, if a person is a beginner, then be he grow up, the title will come with time.

Not everyone gets tired of reading lengthy posts, for instance, your post is lengthy but I still take my time to read through it so that I can understand your point clearly, merit has become a very tough job lately, and to get merited for your post one need to enrich the post with contents that will appeal to you the reader and help them gain knowledge.

If it's meant for the better, just suck it up. Always better to learn now than later when it's too late.

And then there are the plain abuses disguised as criticisms. You could just safely ignore them and not feed their ego :p

I guess these merit hunters (if ever there is but I don't doubt that possiblity) will not make it as an obvious post hunting for merits because there are users who can spot it. I have no problem of these lengthy post especially if they are that informative to the readers.
