How can someone die of starvation, when he/she have Bitcoin. It sound abnormal to me, food is one of the basic needs of man, one needs food to live. Just as you stated, only the living can hold bitcoin. For me, if am hungry and there is no way I can get money, I will sell my BTC. Because I can't die of hunger, while I have Bitcoin in my wallet.
Suppose you live in a country where bitcoin is not accepted in any store or shop and you have a lot of bitcoin with you. Do you think you will survive? Now I know that many services like Bitrefill and all help in buying you gift cards in return for bitcoin but if I keep those aside then the possibility of directly using bitcoin to pay for services is very low in most countries outside the US.

This states two important problems that bitcoin has been facing:

1. Non acceptance in many countries due to a lot of reasons, either government pressure or lack of internet/electricity supply.
2. Not being able to quickly convert bitcoin to a pay-able currency that the local merchants accept.

This talks about the problem not the solution though. Point is that selling is important too, as buying is. You need cash at hand to be able to spend and you also need to keep money at hand for difficult times.

The OP's statement that they would rather stay hungry, is an illlogical one but it is a thought that comes to many people which is plain wrong.

It's really a tempting period for Bitcoin investors considering the constant dip we have been experiencing for a while. I was once adviced to sell my coin when I had an issue that needed money urgently but I objected it took me quite a long time to hodl and loosing them now isn't a healthy idea at all.

If I sell off my coin I might not be opportunied to buy back the coin at the exact rate I bought the previous one and had to come to a concrete decision of not selling my coin no matter the consequence. Yes it's going to be a different story if it turns out negative but what if it turns out positive. Vertually everything about life had two faces been the negative outcome or the positive there is hardly any in-between and so for me I rather take the risk and face what ever comes my way in the near future because risk is a necessity as far as investment is involved.

If it turns out positive certainly the joy would be all mine and certainly a portion of it would be rubbed on people around and if it turns out the opposite direction then I bear my loss alone. It's really my cross to bear and making this decision was out of a deep quite time I had while I was wondering if I go ahead to cash out or I maintain my hodl and from all indication I just have to maintain my hodl till I get my reward no matter the manner it would appear.
Well to me, It is just one thing. As you have mentioned here "If I sell off my coin I might not be opportune to buy back the coin at the exact rate I bought the previous one" This would probably suggest that you bought them in a lower price range than what the price is now and you are probably in some gains which to me, if the issues were really serious enough, I wouldn't mind selling out of my profits to take care of that issue except it was not, like if it was a life and death of a loved one, spouse, children, siblings, parents situation, would you rather HODl on to your Bitcoin and take the chances? Like you said it could go either way even if you sell or you don't but to me, I would rather sell and know it didn't work out than to know I would have been able to support but chose not to because I didn't want to sell my Bitcoin but I get that Issue was not if that magnitude even though it needed money urgently.

But I think we should sometimes remember to take profits so we can feel the gains of our investment.

Don't be like those in the graves who have mouths but can't open them and eat. If what you urgently need to sell your Bitcoin to take care of is health, please don't hesitate to sell. Only those who've life in them know they've a certain amount of Bitcoin/crypto somewhere. Don't be misery and miserable when what can get you comfort is within your means and you can afford it. Again, those who are wiser always find a point to sell off and then buy back at further dip.

the constant dip we have been experiencing for a while.

there hasn't been any dips for weeks. price just keeps going to $32k and comes back up to $34k. this is not called "constant dip".

as for selling, you always want to sell before the drop (meaning in $50k range) not after the drop ended and inside the dip.
it is not a bad idea to sell some bitcoin but timing is everything. for example selling in $30k range makes no sense!
Why not do better if you can take the opportunity to buy back bitcoins at a better price.  Most of us are here for profit, don't deny it.  The problem is who is confident enough to trade when the market suddenly turns bad that they can see.  Hold at the right time, stop at the right place is all I think.  Today's bulls have not been patient enough as the day of GBTC release is approaching.  Lol, 30k is a very strong range, I don't think anyone would be foolish to sell at this level.

You can do whatever you want with your coins.I don't care about what you are going to do with your coins.
There's no point of bragging about how you will stay hungry, instead of selling your BTC.
You do whatever you want.I would never stay hungry, because hunger makes me less productive. Grin
There's no problem selling your BTC now and buying some BTC after a few days, because the BTC market price is pretty stable right now. This always happens during the summer.I guess that the crypto whales and traders are on vacation.

So basically what you are saying is that you are greedy and that you value money that won't be of any use to you when you are starving. Remember that before anything else, it should be your health that is your priority because what's the point of having a lot of money when you are dying or are already dead?

Wait till you hear that one of those consequences is a form of cancer so you will need to sell your bits bitcoins at 1million/piece to get some 5-10 years more to live. Everyone is a hero when there is no real danger around.

LOL.. I am someone who sold more than half of my coins in 2015, when the exchange rate was $200 per coin. But still, I would agree that there may be emergency situations, where you have no option other than selling at least some of your coins. And what is the point in holding 100% of your coins for the next 10 years, as there are no guarantees that you may live for so long? And in case something happens to the holder, then the coins will be lost for ever and neither him, nor his relatives are going to benefit out of it.

The choice of whether to sell your bitcoin or not to sell depends on the degree of hunger you face. Examine a situation where the hunger has now moved past mere hunger and has metamorphosed into starvation to a point it is now a matter of life and death.

Only the living can HODL bitcoin, and in as much as we all have a target, this target should not be placed above being alive because if you die out of starvation or something else, there is a 90% chance that your HODLings may become lost & inaccessible to your next of kin unless your key was documented somewhere reachable.

Also the situation at hand puts forward different scenarios...Are you temporarily hungry and do you have hope on how to get money to eat from another source apart from you Bitcoin, if so, then it is easier to say you will stay hungry rather than selling bitcoins. If however the situation is very ugly, and there is no other means or way to money for food other than selling a part of your bitcoins to be able to survive the situation, this is also very okay because "ONLY THE LIVING CAN HODL BITCOIN". Don't die of starvation.

You are right. If he has bitcoin, he can convert a small amount of bitcoin into fiat money to buy food. We can not do that because we are slowly ruining our lives and how we can survive, especially in this pandemic. We need to think rationally and do not decide like that because that can impact our health in the long term. I am sure our lives are worth more than anything and we must try to survive.

Yes it's going to be a different story if it turns out negative but what if it turns out positive.

If the decline will be sharper, then you won't have a chance to sell higher because you're starving to death. The consequences of investing are only limited to the loss of the value you invest, it does not mean risking your life. Even financial advisors will warn you about the importance of health.

stay hungry instead of selling your Bitcoins I think it's too stupid
I mean this, with a hungry stomach can you think clearly

I prefer to sell my Bitcoin little by little so that my stomach is full and I can search for Bitcoin even harder
With a full stomach, positive thoughts will be around you and make you more productive at work and make money or bitcoin

It's stupid because it will only lead to one thing which is death if a prolonged starving. The real problem in this one is the fact that you spent all your money in crypto and not leaving anything for yourself and having only one stream of income.

This depends on the situation , what if you live in place where there are no available opportunity to sell your bitcoin ? or to convert in Fiat? meaning the only option you have is to let it in your wallet and seek for other option to find food.
and what if there are no person in your community that will accept your bitcoin to trade in for foods?
of course there are countries that has a banning program against bitcoin or at least in the middle of the night when there are no availabilities .

What a vow.

I don't have to sacrifice my health. I can also keep my bitcoin while having myself filled. You can always look for other ways to sustain yourself about food.

You can sell at any time and you can also do it in buying. Just come up with a plan but this plan that you've brought up seems to be crazy.

Everyone here, of course, thinks Bitcoin is a very important investment, but it certainly won't sacrifice ourself. health is much more important than anything else so that the body can continue to work and be responsible for yourself and your family.

I salute you holding on to your stance holding bitcoin under any circumstances but I don't agree if you have a family of children or a hungry wife or they are sick and you have bitcoin assets but you don't sell them it's not a good idea.

If we lose control of ignoring our health, I don't think we're professionals yet. we should be more relaxed here to do this business, so that the happiness of life because of getting financial freedom is achieved. therefore it is better to invest, it is expected to use free money to keep emotions stable

Yes, store bitcoin and finally lie down in the cold underground in hunger, it's an act of people with low intelligence, i don't want to say too many bad things about this but a slap will make other people more conscious about their actions and I see that a lot of people here helped wake him up with somewhat harsh words. The time when the body needs to eat and wants to eat, we need to meet it to be able to last longer, sacrificing a few bitcoin is not too much, health is the most valuable platform to get more bitcoin

At the end of the day money is just a tool, you should not live like a pauper in order to be a rich old man or woman. You need to find a happy medium between living in the current moment and judging what you expect your assets to be worth in future. Unfortunately Bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general have only been around for just over a decade, while that makes a convincing story that they have "staying power" it does not mean that the value currently assigned to them will persist into the future. They are also a rather unproductive asset in comparison with the stock market, where companies you own pay out a portion of their profits (or reinvest it) to grow your future value. Try not to overstretch too much and living in hunger when you can afford not to is a step too far.

You didn't tell the synopsis of your current life, how you can beat hunger to fill your stomach without spending money because you have changed the principle not to sell coins no matter what the consequences, unless you have money saved to save shopping in an epidemic condition.
