Hello,

I have the antminer s19 pro miner.
I updated to the latest firmware from bitmain's site, but now I actually have an earlier version than the one that was installed when i got the miner.
I can't find anywhere the version that I initially had.

Do you think it's possible to use firmware from antminer s19 in my s19 pro?
I saw that the s19 has firmware that is mucher newer than the one I currently have.

Thanks

It's not recommended to use different firmware if it's for s19 just use that firmware for s19, not for s19 pro. The control board might be bricked if you flash it with different firmware.

Another thing is don't flash your miner if you don't experience any issue from your miner.

What actually do you want to achieve? Do you just want to use the latest version? If that's the case then just use on specific firmware for that miner.

Hi,

I have the antminer s19 pro, and I actaully had problems with my miner, I installed the latest firmware from bitmain's site, only to find out that the latest version they have there, is older than the one I actually had when the miner arrived.
So I wanted to know if I could install the firmware of s19 since it's newer...

I actually did install the firmware of s19 and it didn't work well.
It didn't brick or anything, it's just didn't mine, and it thoght that the temperature was 255 degrees....

So anyway I installed the correct firmware for s19 pro.

Thanks

~snip~
What is the exact problem of your miner?

There is an old version of s19 pro firmware but you will need an SD card to flash the unit. Have you already check them from Bitmain? if you search it through Google you can find it.

Anyway, try the SD card flashing but it's a 2020 firmware that you can download from this link below but it would downgrade from 2021 firmware to 2020.

You can just revert back if the problem is still there.

Follow the guide from here if how to flash it through SD card

how do you know which firmware version you want to use .

For example the S19 has 2 firmware. One for miners before May 2021 and one for after October 15, 2021.

So what's the way to know which version u should be putting . I looked on the bitmain site and can't find the answer to that question

anyone know ?

Have you tried to read their firmware description it should explain which firmware you should flash.

Check this image below it was from the Bitmain firmware description for s19

Do not worry about flashing it to the most recent firmware you can able to revert it back by flashing it through SD card and only revert it back if you experienced some issue.

Well my question is regarding that picture exactly . How do i differentiate a S19 that should be on the May 2021 firmware vs one that should have the Oct 15 . The reason i ask if because when u SD recovery a S19 with issues , the firmware shown is the recovery one which is the same for both versions .

So unless you marked down what Firmware u had prior to SD flashing , you'd have no idea but i'm thinking there must be a way to tell no ?

Currently, there is no other SD card firmware for s19 they only have one image even on BraiinsOS, ASIC.to, and Awesomeminer they do have SD card firmware but it won't flash directly to the nand.

How about flashing it two times?

And what exactly is the issue you currently experience?

If the firmware from Bitmain does no solve your case you can use other firmware available from what I mentioned above it won't flash to nand but it will boot directly from your SD card. So you need to keep the SD card plugged.

Or try to contact Bitmain and maybe they do have another SD card image that can totally clear the Nand program.

By different firmware i mean the latest ones not the recovery firmware . Say i was to SD recovery an S19 and now i wanted to update to the latest firmware , how would i know which one to use .

Yes i know i don't have to update to the latest but say someone wanted to for wtv reason , how would one know which one to take short of trial and error .

Well it is a trial and error if you don't know what exactly the firmware installed before you can start flashing it with the 2nd one which is this ANTMINER-S19-release-202111161922.bmu
If you have some issue experience then repeat the procedure flash it again with recovery and then flash it with the first one "ANTMINER-S19-merge-release-20211216091201-8IN1.bmu"
Then test it again.

Ya that's what i been doing , was just wondering if there was a way to differentiate them to avoid that process
