A few days ago, someone said that his account of blockchain.com was stolen, yet he did not share his password with anyone else. Sadly, most of the stolen funds like this cannot be recovered or retrieved!
To know the scope of that phenomenon, I asked more users of that website. Surprisingly, many of them have encountered similar problems.
If this is the case, why did that happen and how? What can we do to stop it? Is there any possibility to get the stolen fund back?

edit:In order for everyone to better help me solve the problem, I edited it again.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Learn how to secure your funds because there's no reversing bitcoin transactions once it's confirmed. That's one of the downsides of being self-sovereign; you'd have to be fully responsible over your security.

If blockchain.com causes the cause of this hack or stealing, they are surely required to refund the funds to their users if that happens. But if the user is the one who is at fault, it's definitely not going to be given back. Just like what mk4 said, there's no reversing of the transaction.

If it comes to this, I suggest reporting it to support and ask for cybersecurity assistance to know how you got your coins stolen, etc.

Blockchain.com or any other service are not obliged to compensate their user's funds if it is due to the user's negligence. Even in Coinbase where your funds are insured, there is a clause which excludes compensation in the event that it is the user's fault.

If you ask everyone, there are still many people whose funds in the blockchain have been stolen. If this is the case, what can we do to stop it?
Stop using Blockchain.com or any online wallets.
Or is there any way to get it back?
No.

Can't retreat. I haven't heard the example of returning again. It is a pity that such incidents have occurred, and it is recommended to read some measures on the website to prevent similar incidents from happening again.

Blockchain.com is trash.  I found a security issue that they tried to claim functioned as intended.  Then they fixed it and hackerone offered me $50.  Roll Eyes

I'm sure that has nothing to do with your friends, but there is no telling what else could be potentially wrong that someone knows about.  It's better to use Bitcoin Core or a Trezor.

The only thing that can be done to stop your funds from being stolen is to protect your wallet with strong security measures that make it hard for scammers to get access to your funds. If not, blockchain transactions are irreversible once confirmed.

Confused, Does she/he lost the wallet(stolen) access to login to wallet or the fund inside wallet send? If fund already spent, there is no way to recoved or refunded. With blockchain will be keep fowards train.
May I guess, she/he was lost the access to login, then she/he do recover with phrase through support ticket.

It comes down to whether it was a flaw in their software that was exploited to hack someone's account or was it the user's fault for leaking their secrets that led to their account being hacked and their funds being stolen. The later will never be compensated by any services out there but the former may be.
For example a couple of years ago when their stupid wallet was creating the same private key for users since it used random.org!!! I believe they ended up paying back what users lost.

There will not be any reversal of the blockchain transaction once it is confirmed. Use security best practices or get yourself a hardware wallet to minimize risk as much as possible.

Don't really believe about those centralized service that provide refunds if the funds were stolen by hacker, because they can only afford some or little portion to pay it. Of course if the hacker stole all the funds, the service wouldn't refunds to the user since they already bankrupt.

Learn to use non-custodial wallet and much better using hardware wallet.

I think this situation is hopeless, because some users have a similar situation with you and want to contact customer service staff. After that, there is no more information and no corresponding response.
I no longer use this wallet now.

"Not your keys,not your coins"....
I remember that blockchain.com had a 12 unique word combination, that is generated for every account, which the users could use to restore access to their accounts.
I don't know if this feature is still available on blockchain.com.
If you really want financial services, that are capable of refunding stolen funds, then you should dump the cryptosphere and choose a centralized financial service-an online bank account or Paypal.

You judt answered what you were asking in your title. I don't know exactly what happened but either these people got their credentials stolen by someone using a phishing email. Plus the only way that I think that this can be prevented is either the site makes it more secure or the users are much more vigilant.

It's possible but your chances are very low, they too have this written in their support section about reversing or canceling transactions  https://support.blockchain.com/hc/en-us/articles/211162263-Can-my-transaction-be-canceled-or-reversed-

And just to give you some hope , if there is unreasonable doubt that funds where lost because of their platform they certainly will refund like they did back in 2013 after its mobile wallet had a bug, read about it here https://www.coindesk.com/blockchain-info-issues-refunds-to-bitcoin-theft-victims

Another bug has been discovered in a bitcoin wallet, leading to the theft of around 50 bitcoins. This time, Blockchain.info’s web wallet was at fault, and the company is now offering refunds to users who lost bitcoins due to the flaw.

It is quite easy for a service to claim that they're not at fault if you don't give anything as proof. And the bad news is, it is quite hard to prove that you don't make a mistake here or there. That's why you should use a non-custodial wallet and make sure you never leak/put your seed/keys online or in other insecure places.

I remember that blockchain.com had a 12 unique word combination, that is generated for every account, which the users could use to restore access to their accounts.
I don't know if this feature is still available on blockchain.com.
They do still provide the 12 word seed phrase, which is a standard BIP39 seed phrase and can be used in any BIP39 compatible wallet to recover access to the private keys and coins stored by that blockchain.com account. This will not help in OP's case, though. If his account has been hacked and all the coins stolen, then his seed phrase will simply recover access his now empty account. It cannot reverse any transactions which have been made nor recover any coins which have been stolen.

And just to give you some hope , if there is unreasonable doubt that funds where lost because of their platform they certainly will refund like they did back in 2013 after its mobile wallet had a bug
Blockchain.com have become less and less reliable (not that they were exactly reliable to begin with) and more and more shady as time has gone on. Even if they were at fault for any loss, I would expect them either to completely ignore the user's complaints, or brush them off with some weak excuse.

The correct course of action here is to stop using web wallets.

What do they say? keep your passwords and save the seeds of recovery as careful as possible. They politely try to give and care so that each action applies to the user and cannot guarantee for lost funds. Carelessness is in your agreement when you press the confirmation button.

Transactions simply can't be reversed, end of story. If it was a hacked account then it's still possible, but if it transactions, then no. Crypto transactions are irreversible and that should've been known when you started investing in crypto. In fact, any online wallet shouldn't be used for storing funds (unless you day trade) since as said, transactions made in the blockchain are irreversible. Imo check if you recently visited a phishing site of sorts or something, identify how you got hacked then clean it up. Forget about the funds imho, you won't be getting it back.

he could have been hacked and hacking can happen in many ways even if you didn't share your password publically but there are some hackings in the past were authorities managed to recover the funds .
He should not loose hope but he can ask for help and state what he have did before the hackings occur .
We cant stop the hackers but we can follow a  guide on how to tighten our security .

Is there any possibility to get the stolen fund back?

blockchain.com its not official real blockchain that many people think. its only services provider with many feature options to support crypto users such as wallet, swap and others. if you lose assets from your own wallet they will not provide any guarantee. things like this that you must be aware of from the start of making a wallet. it is impossible for assets to just disappear. there must be someone who has access to the wallet. any transaction that has entered the blockchain link cannot be reversed or canceled.

Bitcoin transactions can't be reversed. This means once a transaction is made, it can't be modified. In recent days there is more similar incidents of stolen fund recovery try. I don't know how people will differentiate specific fund is stolen and pure. Even some exchanges doesn't accept specific funds stating it as stolen/illegal activities. How this is happening.

I think if your bitcoins are lost in a personal wallet or exchange, it's your own fault. You are not careful and introspective in clicking the site button, then no one wants to be responsible for your negligence except yourself. but if the exchange is hacked maybe your funds are safe (most likely)

edit:In order for everyone to better help me solve the problem, I edited it again.

When it comes to blockchain.com, as far as I know, a very large number of users fell victim of phishing attacks.
Users carelessness is not the fault of the website, so it cannot be held responsible for the stolen funds.
The strange thing is that huge number of blockchain.com users are the victims of theft. I have seen many times that there are suspicions about inside job, but nothing has been proven.
Anyone who keeps funds at addresses to which third parties have access must take into account the risk of losing them. The best solution is to keep crypto only at addresses that only we have access to. Then there is no doubt who is responsible.
In this case, I am sure there is no chance that anyone would return the stolen funds.

If the cause of the bitcoin theft is user error (which it is more often than not) then no, they are not liable for the loss. If their servers are hacked or something though which leads to multiple losses then they should reimburse people. As we saw with MtGox though there is no guarantee.

Crypto assets cannot be recovered. But you could secure your wallet by clicking forget password. To do this you need 12 words backup phrase... If you don't have these 12 secret words, you might not be able to.

To avoid any such incident in the future, install the BlockchainWallet app on your mobile so that you can avoid any kind of phishing website.

Video how to secure your blockchain wallet: https://youtu.be/oUydd2xf4Sg

When it comes to blockchain.com, as far as I know, a very large number of users fell victim of phishing attacks.

Blockchain.com is one of those wallets which allow you to export the private key. So in case the coins get stolen, it is most probably due to your fault (since you are the only one who has access to the private keys). So it doesn't make sense for Blockchain.com to refund the stolen coins. Also, if they start refunding these coins, then it will open a Pandora's box. A lot of guys are going to claim that their wallet got hacked, after transferring the coins to wallets that are under their control. As far as I know, none of the wallets issue refunds (here I am talking about wallets, and not exchanges).

Cryptocurrency BTC transactions are not like money or bank transfers that we are used to, because there is no reverse transaction and in my opinion there is a chance that you will lose all of your money. There was one time when I also sent a transaction to the wrong address and in the end couldn't get my money back.

Even I was wondering the same thing. I have been around for quite some time now and it has literally been years since I am seeing these blockchain.com scams.
I though it would send sometime in near future but the scams on blockchain.com doesn't bother to stop.
I think the only way such scams/hacks will decrease if we all raise awareness of the such scams.
Only if people become more aware there will be a probability of such scams/hacks getting decreased.

Like what you've said, the fund was stolen. Definitely it will not be refunded. Neither will return by blockchain.com. if the website is fraudalent or scam, it should be shut down or maybe he entered a phishing site that hacked his password.

There are so many possible reasons about funds suddenly gone away. But the fact that this is happening mostly with the users of blockchain.com, it must be reported immediately.

The Blockchain.com wallet is a personal storage of Bitcoin. It is not stored by blockchain.com. Blockchain.com web account is a convenience, not a currency account

The thief does not need to log in to the blockchain.com network account to steal all coins from the blockchain.com wallet, so PIN, 2FA and email protection will not prevent theft

What we can do to stop is to stop using them. They're not friendly anymore even the platform itself, sometimes it's laggy when I've visited them last time just to check if there's any improvement.

And to avoid being hacked, you need to be careful from the way and how you're storing your keys, mnemonic phrases and login details. That's it. Do not entertain those giveaway posts that are instructing you to sign up for a certain and dubious link.

Blockchain.com have had a number of critical vulnerabilities in the past, and have proven time and again that they are incompetent at best and malicious at worst. They should be avoided at all costs.

(since you are the only one who has access to the private keys).
We don't know that. We have no idea how blockchain.com generates seed phrases, how they store private keys, how good their security and encryption is, how they store and transfer this data, etc. Any number of people could actually have access to your private keys when you use a web wallet.

Actually, its not about how you store those confidential information, it's also a matter of what website do you access using those login credentials, if its the legitimate website or not (phishing clone website). Many newbies still fall for fake/clone websites, I don't have the statistics, but I see lots of reports, sometimes on scam accusation, B&G, or reddit threads.

As many users already answered, the fund couldn't reverse anyway. There was a rumor that blockchain wallet's staff was involved with that kind of hacking. I just forgot the article where I read it and failed to search. Since users could request to change the email address that's the advantage for inside hackers ( blockchain staff). They don't have access to the fund, but they have access to the user's database like email addresses. So they target few users and make a request to change email and they do it themselves. Then somehow they retrieved the wallet files through email and access to the funds. So it's a possible scenario in your case. Even you don't share any credentials still funds would steal by blockchain staff.

I agree.

It's why when a newbie sees some suspicious links, they should have avoid and ignore it as early as they saw it so that it won't go through on them. Because the content of it might be asking them their seeds/phrase which happens commonly.

Too sad that there will always be a newbie that can't avoid it when nobody guides them and just got into the crypto market.

As long as you can't prove they are responsible for the lost of the funds, they will not refund it. If you start complaining, they will simply tell you that it's your fault (you got phished, you've a malware in your device..) and tbh, this is true in 99% of the cases.
The reason why you see many victims is mainly because most blockchain.com users are newbies who generally don't know how to properly secure their wallets/accounts.
What you can do is to stop using web wallets and start using non-custodial and open source wallets.

Don't see anyone recover any amount after they  got hack, blockchain.com owners would not take any actions related to  that incident so its good for OP  to move on from that sad happenings and try to learn from bad experience happen to him so  that next time he can avoid the same incident that he  might encounter on future. Also I agree with you its better to use  trezor  and avoid  dealing web  wallets especially if we store huge balance for long term hold or for other investment.
