When I reply , if I want to quote a person’s reply, I sometimes click the insert quote option to quickly reply to a person.
This citation will automatically enter the author information and time information

Code:
Quote from: somebody on June 05, 2021, 09:41:54 PM
When quoting a person's words, there will be the poster's information and posting time in front of the quotation.

Code:
[quote author=somebody link=topic=0000000.msg57167268#msg57167268 date=1622929314]
Its original code is like this.Contains the author's uid、time、post uid

My problem is when I want to quote a locked post, how do I edit the author information and posting time of a post?(I can’t use the insert quote function, so I can’t enter the time and author information)

You can try out the methods described on this topic:

A guide to quoting posts in locked topic.

There are some further methods described within the thread, using forum-fan (member) created add-ons.

I normally resort to quoting without the header and placing the reference link below the quote, simply because it’s quick and easy to do.

I think this is a good way. Clear and fast. We don’t need to waste too much time for quote.Smiley

you can try installing the [β] BPIP Extension: user info & extra features add-on/extension, Firefox/Chrome. other than the extension is abling you to easily quote from a locked topic it has other features that you might find useful. of course, it is always up to you whether you want to try it out or not.

The links above can help you quote a post from a locked thread. This is what I do since in my opinion, this is much easier and it won't take too long to do this but there are other ways to quote a locked thread but this one that I shared is for those who doesn't want to use program or an add-ons. All you need to do is go to the thread or post that you wanted to quote and in every post there is a number shown next to +merit or a title. If you click the quote where there is a link it will redirect you to that thead.

You have to right click the #number and copy link which would look like this.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5338649.msg57489801#msg57489801

Second, use the Bbcode of quote.
Code:
[quote + auother here/link]the post[/quote]

Third, I paste the link and the post. Example, this post is from. Nutilda's post and the thread is locked right now.

Result:
Hello achievers and would-be achievers,

I was trying to make good on the delivery of some outstanding merits and keep running into this message:

Quote
You can only send 50 merit to a given user per 30 days. You have already sent 50 merit to that user.

Its been more than 30 days for some of you so I don't know what's up.

Thanks to an unexpected and generous donation by Sir Theymos, the Bitcointalk Urban Merit Achievers Scholarship Program is happy to announce they are now accepting new applications. Please read the first post for application details.

No re-application is necessary.

We have your information already.

We'll call you if something opens.

Seriously.

There's an easier way in addition to the above options...

Code:
[quote="[url=copy the link here]type the remaining information here"]
  • Right-click on the post # [after +Merit button] in question > copy linked address [depending on the browser that you're using, it might look slightly different] > paste it after the "url=" part.
  • Follow the above example and type the missing information after that part.

Code:
Code:
[quote="[url=https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3339476]somebody on June 05, 2021, 09:41:54 PM"]

I have reviewed some editing methods, and the one you recommend is my favorite method. Thanks for your introduce.

This method is similar to the way we usually modify URL hyperlinks. So I'm more receptive
