This summary from https://blockstream.com/2021/07/21/nl-greenlight-by-blockstream-lightning-made-easy/ read it for more and source.

  • Onboarding Lightning adds another layer of complexity because of the need to operate channels and liquidity as well as manage backups and watchtowers.
  • New users often opt for custodial services where these technical challenges are managed for them but at the cost of trusting the service operator with their funds.
  • a middle ground that we think is far better: use an operator to run the node with all of the associated challenges while keeping control over the funds with the user.
  • Greenlight allows anyone to boot up their personal Lightning node on our cloud infrastructure in seconds and take full control over their funds

I haven't used their wallet but maybe the lightning addition reason to use it, I wish I had access to the private key and not a multi-signature recovery phrase.

Just how many cryptocurrency wallet Blocksteam have? There are Blockstream Green and Aqua, now they also have Greenlight wallet.

Simple recovery: Losing your phone at sea won’t mean losing your bitcoin. Since we manage the database and the backups, recovering the funds is as simple as initiating a new front-end with your seed phrase.

Hopefully this part is true since recovering Blockstream Green (or Green Wallet) was known to be difficult (mainly because multi-signature scheme and locktime).

One wallet but there is a version for For everyone called AQUA wallet and another for For advanced users called Green wallet.
I didn't use AQUA but it doesn't seem as popular as Green.

(mainly because multi-signature scheme and locktime).
So far, I have not found a person who gives a logical explanation for all these complications that they are doing, any user can set up 2of3 multi-signature wallet thus, he can spend his coins whenever he wants, so why not get the private key directly? Huh

I expect Greenlight will support the same philosophy.

Greenlight is their service, not a wallet, and Blockstream also have their own hardware wallet Jade, that supports Bitcoin and Liquid network, so it will be interesting to see if Lighting Network will be supported there or not.

This somewhat looks like my own attempt to commercialize LN node renting, which the community didn't recept well, so I'm not expecting them to be anymore welcome to this service considering that they run in their cloud (and we don't even know whether they will charge for this service).

I think this will just cause confusion. None of them are really widely used, and the same company creating many wallets will just make they compete with each other.

Personally, I hate to install different apps to my devices. If I need one wallet for lightning, other for Tor, other for hardware wallet support, etc I will just ignore all those and use Electrum.

wouldn't it be better to merge all those wallets and create different tabs such as Advanced users/Lightning/Tor or something like that?

They explain the different wallets here (Jade, Green and Aqua)

this is in the wrong section - greenlight is not a wallet

i get that people would like everything in one single app, but when someone says that, it is always the end user. from a technical perspective it is complicated. i like the unix philosophy (or part of it), which says: do one thing and do it well. blockstream as a company seems to do a lot of things. i am not sure what it means inside a company to do a lot of things. but i personally like to focus on one thing at a time. you could argue that blockstream hires people and the person itself can focus on one product - maybe that is true.

tldr: putting everything in one app isn't a good idea imo - you will have a lot more attack vectors for example

It depends on what the things are.
Something like lightning network is not far from everything else you put in a regular wallet, the cryptography for example or all the script semantics are pretty much the same as you would have in a wallet so adding it to the same wallet is not adding a completely new thing.

hmm, i get your point, but i have the feeling that it always starts like that: it is close enough. but sure, in the end it is a decision someone has to make. and just in my humble experience, most of the time it doesn't make the live of developers easier. but maybe that isn't the goal...
