The crime of Russia discovered by the Germans, known as the Katyn execution (1), which the Russians refused for 50 years, found its continuation in yet another crime, the death of a Polish government delegation in 2010 as a result of a plane crash while entering the Smolensk airport. Airplanes do not fall from the sky. Officially, an investigation by a Russian commission concluded that the accident was due to improper actions by the crew. This conclusion of the commission raises doubts, so Poland turned to Russia with a request to hand over the wreckage of the plane, which was refused. It is quite possible that the reason for the refusal to issue the wreckage of the aircraft is the presence of traces of an explosive in them, which can be detected by modern analytical methods. Revealing the truth is unacceptable for Putin, as it would indicate his direct guilt in the planned murder of members of the government delegation and concealment of an insidious crime.

Interestingly, recently, in response to repeated requests from Poland to hand over the wreckage of Kaczynski's plane, Masha Zakharova said that until the investigation is over, Moscow cannot hand over the wreckage. And the investigation has been going on since 2010 and it looks like it will never end.
Probably in the details of the wreckage is TNT, a consequence of the explosion, for which the Russian specialists are responsible service.

hmmm it really do smells fishy. Especially that Putin has been Left and Right criticized these days for large scale corruption.

Yes,if there is irrefutable shown evidence that the soviets carried out the slaughter then it would be reasonable for the Russian gov to acknowledge these crimes. A fully independent scientific and historical investigation should be allowed unhidnered by political interests but I would be doubtful such evidence would be available after the soviets made it "disappear".
