Gang,

I enjoyed the thread where we ranked the top two physical bitcoins. I have a different question.

What do you think are a few of the most under-rated physical bitcoins? What does under-rated mean; definition? I think this means, a coin rarely discussed and maybe not on people's radar to acquire, despite it having one or all of these qualities: 1. Well designed. 2. Scarcity. 3. An interesting back story. 4. Historical to Physical Bitcoins.

Here are a couple candidates I submit in no order:

MJB Series 1, Silver 1gram - 1000 came out in 2011 before Casacious and seems to have had many damaged coins. I have never seen one.

Cold Storage Spy Coin

World Treasures Halving set - 3 coins

I will have to think this one over, because I know I've got at least 5 of them I've thought about before, but I will go with the Lealana king kamehameha.  I think these coins are very underrated.  They don't get talked about much, I never see anyone asking to buy them etc.

Well there is a photo of one of them out there, but it is believed that no more were made because of it all falling through.  I can't remember the specifics exactly however.  I have however seen a photo of all the planchets for the coins to be made from.

Definitely a beautiful coin (I own both series) and Mick Bruce aka MJB was a great guy to work with.  This coin was the inspiration behind my Bitcoin Binary Rounds and MJB designed both the Bitcoin Binary Rounds and the Litecoin Binary Rounds for me in order to take the next step with this design since MJB never did it on his own.  His 1g rounds are underappreciated for how inspiring they were to myself, and innovative for the community at the time.  They were the first precious metal Bitcoin collectible as far as I'm aware, and without my discussions with Mick, I likely would have never created my Minted Seat Rounds and definitely would have never created any Binary Rounds.

I'm glad you added these comments. I have wondered if there was a connection because of the similarity to the binary rounds and also your 1 gram coin, which I think should be on this list for under rated coins.

Hi MJ, agree with you about the philosopher's coin, over the moon cool.  Only time I saw one I think it was yours.  It reminds me of the hologram on the back of cryptoimperator's coins

It is.. there were 2x coins for each serial number in the series. 1 coin has the Microsoul hologram and the other coin has the CryptoImperator hologram.

I think teegumes was at one point, and if memory serves me Ive also seen one or two others in the last year or two. They sure won’t come cheap as they are either a set of 8 or stand alone silvers (but I think some silvers were sold in pairs, could be wrong about this and will fact check later on). The set of 8 coins are very limited, I’m again guessing but think there were less than 20 8 coin sets produced. I know the stand alone silver versions didn’t have a high Mintage either. I’ve offered my spare kidney for a set but no takers as of yet.

Other underrated coins imo - Silver Wallets and Nola Coins. Especially the funded Nola .5BTC coin and self funded coins which have a unique scratch off hologram..all of which are white whales. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen one being sold or put up for sale once since I’ve been on the forum.

MJB Series 1, Silver 1gram - 1000 came out in 2011 before Casascius

Although these coins came out a month earlier than Casascius's they are more a sort of commemorative coins... and not physical Bitcoins.
But in my opinion the cold storage capability is crucial for physical coins or wallets of all kinds to increase in value (most) => Bitcoin is all about how to trust in a (potentially) trust-less system and coin-minters put incredible amounts of stress on their shoulders to fullfill the expected security-standards... and that's worth a lot.

KIALARA wallets are for sure not underrated but these wallets are a league of their own: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;threads;u=364237;sa=showPosts
And if a person in the future (with too much Bitcoins or money) wants to have one of them, this person will spend whatever it will cost. The madness allready started: https://scarce.city/auctions/Kialara-2015-1

That is an astounding price. wow! Thanks for sharing this. Everyone in the forum holding Kialara's are happy seeing this.

I am less distinguishing than you on what constitutes a physical bitcoin since I count all the coins in the encyclopedia as legitimate candidates. I agree that wallets / loaded coins are more exciting and valuable. However, you bring up an interesting point. I do not accept any coin out there to be a true physical bitcoin. I have distain for these cheaply mass produced knock offs. But anyway, it does bring up the question of where the line is?

Kialaras was the reason I go into the Physical Crypto world. The mintage, the art, the story was just perfect for someone switching over from the Gold/Silver collecting world to crypto collectibles. They will prob be one of the most sought after collectibles in the future.

On the other hand the price that u mentioned above for that particular Kialara is not outrageous. Since these are not loaded, the price is often considered in USD even thought the bidding goes on in BTC. The price have been pretty consistent in terms of USD for the past couple of yrs or so for these GOLD Kialaras which is in the range of $5-7.5k

I do not accept any coin out there to be a true physical bitcoin. I have distain for these cheaply mass produced knock offs. But anyway, it does bring up the question of where the line is?
I fully agree that there is no true physical bitcoin out there. But on the other hand I would count any loaded coin/object that contains a private key a (loaded) physical Bitcoin.
And there might be no line: imagine doing self-laoded DIY-coins (privKey and maybe even the storage items are self-created) => not officially (in the encyclopedia) and after some years you get the problem of having a percentage of your worth banned to self-made objects that nobody in his/her senses would buy from you/me with only your/my word as guarantee.
And I collect anything about BTC that has a personal touch to me irrespectively if it has any worth to anybody else (only one example: I have the CPU from my first PC framed on a wall hanging. So... even the IKEA frame cost more than what you would spend on that amount of computing power today^^).

The price have been pretty consistent in terms of USD for the past couple of yrs or so for these GOLD Kialaras which is in the range of $5-7.5k
Really? Then I better don't say what I paid for my 2015 Original w/Silver a month ago... and feel blessed with the two KIALARAs I finally got my hands on now (even though I was in contact with Max back in 2015 but as life goes on -up & down, u know- it wasn't granted to me at that time).

On the other hand the price that u mentioned above for that particular Kialara is not outrageous.

And I thought ebay was the most expensive place for crypto collectibles. Right now somebody offers an interesting piece for the highest price I've ever seen on ebay for a KIALARA wallet: https://www.ebay.com/itm/194257280425

But this is more the reality I know: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=kialara&_sacat=0&LH_TitleDesc=1&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1

ebay hint for bargain hunters: do not only search on ebay.com but also on all the other domain-endings like .at, .de, .co.uk, and so on => lots of sellers offer on their local ebay-site and depending on their set shipping conditions often these auctions don't show up on the international .com-site ;-)

I think the cryptolator doesn't get enough attention, especially the one-offs.  The hologram is probably my favorite with the all seeing eye.

The original issue Bitcoin Suisse loaded notes. Absolute beautiful specimens.
