Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Let me debunk this right now before it balloons through the rest of the thread and say I wouldn't bet on Amazon setting up crypto payments for Amazon.com.

One is false, the source says they want to develop "digital currency solutions" which is very different from saying that Amazon wants to accept BTC or any other altcoin as a payment method for their store.

The second news is not a big deal because their subsidiary (AWS) already employs a ton of blockchain developers for their "managed blockchain" service.

For those who don't know, Amazon secured domains several years ago. So the topic was or is now certainly already discussed. I am sure that it was already a topic of discussion in several meetings. And as an innovative company, you have to deal with crypto. Domains: amazonethereum.com, amazoncryptocurrency.com, amazonbitcoin.com and, amazoncryptocurrencies.com. I think it's a matter of time before acceptance for cryptocurrencies is made official.

Domains: amazonethereum.com, amazoncryptocurrency.com, amazonbitcoin.com and, amazoncryptocurrencies.com.

They did that so that scammers can't register those domains to run a fake "Free amazon giveaway" or "free Jeff Bezos giveaway" and scam people using their name.

No company registers these types of domains to accept crypto payments, they do that on the main site!

They are probably looking for both improving their internal processes by utilizing the blockchain technology AND start accepting cryptocurrencies. I think the latter would be a catalyst for a jump in Bitcoin's price. And the integration of blockchain tech like for eg. the tracking of products in the supply chain(s) would be another proof/vouch from a behemoth company that blockchain tech is here to stay and change the world.

So you can see this action, but there are so many domain extensions (.io,.xxx,.info,.ae,.bit, and many more), securing all of them is only possible in theory. Just by owning the domains, it will come up every now and then. So it will be a topic of discussion. That the acceptance only on the main page makes sense and is possible, i think so too.

I don't think they understand encryption, all they have done is to turn it into such a complicated problem. This is still where I don't like to use BTC as a currency.

If they go for bitcoin or make the payment contain more than one cryptocurrency, I would say that we will be able to see a really big movement in the market since Amazon is a global brand and I don't think that we are going to expect something small when this happens. The blockchain is going to be bloody but fruitful at the same time because that big of an infrastructure is going to take a lot of time to develop.

We should accept cryptocurrency as actual currency to avoid taxation. Therefore, if you use Bitcoin to pay a large company like Amazon, you will have to pay taxes on the realized gains.
Amazon's recruitment of blockchain professionals marks a decisive change for the company. Its products and services will be ubiquitous online, but it is not clear whether the implementation of this program will involve the use of the Lightning Network.
