  • Phase 3: Announce and add their own token.
  • Phase 4: Remove BTCitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

I am very skeptical on this news after witnessing a someone’s joke on Twitter being implied by bitcoin news media as a rumor that might be real. Also, another cause for skepticism is cityam.com is a small news media outlet. Why would insiders from Amazon talk to them?

The very sad part of it all is that people didn't even take a few minutes to see if the news was true or not, they rushed to buy bitcoin and then the price had a scary big rise, few minutes the price had gone up a lot. In the end came confirmation of the obvious that Amazon said this is false news. but is it because the price had no eviction? because people are interpreting amazon's statements as a hope that soon the rumor will become real

Amazon has already denied that rumors but  they don't say they will not accept crypto by no means in the future.

this made people create high hopes that in the future they will accept, that's why the price didn't go down after they denied this news

well if is true it will be big movement to bitcoin after tesla, and worldwide shopper would be happy since not all people have credit card or debit card.

but maybe amazon want to creating his own digital currency like facebook does

I agree with the first three phases, but not with the last one. They will follow the example of Binance. After coming up with BNB and BUSD, did they removed ETH, BTC or USDT? They will allow the competitor coins as well, but those using their own token/coin will have an advantage in terms of low fees and cashback benefits. And even if they come up with Amazoncoin (or some other coin), it will be wrong to classify BTC as it's competitor. Because right now all the altcoins (including BNB and ETH) are dependent on Bitcoin and they haven't yet reached a stage where they could challenge Bitcoin.

What's the point for Amazon to accept crypto in 2021?Why didn't they accept crypto in 2019 or 2020?
If this is really true,I think that Jeff Bezos is going to repeat what Elon Musk did.This is going to be more like
another pump&dump of Bitcoin and the crypto markets,rather than a sustainable project.
At some point the Amazon CEO will complain about how bad BTC mining is,the BTC price volatility and the high transaction fees.We've seen this before...
Anyway,I don't believe that this adoption will ever going to happen.

Aren't you aware that Jeff is no longer Amazon CEO? I think there are some more important things in life for him now - a man recently went into space with his rocket, so somehow it seems to me that Bitcoin is not even on his mind - would it matter to you if you had about $200 billion?
