Ever since Ethereum was created in 2015, the whole crypto/Blockchain space improved in many ways that were never imagined. The ICO trend of 2017, and the current "De-Fi"/NFTs hype are all attributed to Ethereum's ever-rising popularity in the mainstream world. If it wasn't because of Ethereum, we wouldn't had a plethora of smart contract platforms to choose from. The crypto/Blockchain space would've been focused solely on finance, instead of serving as a hub for decentralized applications. It's been 6 years since ETH came into inception, and now the smart contract platform is the second-largest blockchain network in the world. Some people compare ETH to BTC because of its focus on decentralization unlike any other cryptocurrency on the market today. As of this date, Ethereum has a large number of miners and nodes keeping the blockchain alive and healthy. If ETH continues to grow, it could live alongside Bitcoin for many years. But we all know that nothing lasts forever. What's your opinion on this? Will Ethereum last forever? Or will it eventually die? Do you think it'll retain its place as the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap for long? If not, why? Do competitors stand a chance against ETH? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. I can't guarantee Ethereum will last forever, but for the next 2 or 3 years they will remain at the number two position, so far there is no capacity for another coin to replace it. If we're honest, the odds against Ethereum are currently very heavy and impossible, ethereum has a lot of advantages at the moment, compared to other coins. More and more people are starting to believe in it and as evidenced by the many choices that are given to people today, it is not fundamental to say that Ethereum will be replaced in the near future.

while bitcoin still exists, eth will accompany btc. especially at this time there are still many erc based projects, and today eth burns as much as 450 eth, isn't that a good effort to raise the price of eth itself? don't be afraid buddy eth won't die

Of all cryptocurrencies, ETH is in one of the currencies that is most likely to survive, of course, it will always be dependent on BTC, however in the long term it is speculated according to a technical analyst that it may rise 30% more than BTC, guaranteeing thus the life of ETH which is considered the second most important currency after BTC: A drop below that level would lead to a potential drop of 20% from current levels. The cryptocurrency space as a whole, she added, could enter a risk-on mode with ETH outperforming BTC over the last few weeks:
Bitcoin is losing relative strength versus Ether, noting the ratio above has broken down below its 50-day MA and a minor low, signaling a potential switch to a risk-on environment within the cryptocurrency space Source: https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2021/08/ethereum-eth-could-surge-30-while-outperforming-bitcoin-says-technical-analyst/For weeks it has been seen that ETH has a growth rate higher than BTC, according to what is shown in the article, ETH is one of the currencies that has the longest life in the market, it is likely that it will continue to grow, and that we can see ETH at $ 3k very soon, it all depends on the BTC movements that continue to rise.

Never worry with ethereum price after hardfork now etehreum going with fantastic price again and success cross above $3,000. I believe have chance for ethereum raise above $10k few months or years later but keep stable bitcoin with higher price. Only ethereum have bigger impact with bitcoin price, when bitcoin success back to higher price ethereum always show most higher increase price than other altcoin.
Yeah, it has crossed $3k again but the fees are not lovingly again. But there's no complain as long as we're seeing the price of it. I guess this is the usual thing. Whenever a coin goes above the price that we've seen a week or a year ago, the price also goes on high. But it's a different thing with bitcoin, despite the high price of it, fees are settled at low says per byte but I wish that this is going to be lowered anytime soon as the hard fork seems to be a success.

We're not sure if the Ethereum will last, remember that Ethereum has limited supply also there's a lot of upcoming and existing projects that can competes against Ethereum for sure that the Ethereum will be here for a long time but we may not know in the future. Maybe another coin or similar to digital currency will come and it will be a new generation.

Judging by the rate of Ethereum, this race will last forever, I also noticed one pattern, when Bitcoin grows immediately and Ethereum grows, most likely a lot of people trade in the Ethereum / Bitcoin pair, but this trend has persisted for many months, Ether does not grow without growth bitcoin ....

I think it's hard to say whether ETH will last forever because in cryptocurrencies anything can happen, but if you look at the growth and usage of etherem from time to time it is increasing, then it is certain that ETH will remain in crypto,
indeed anything can happen in cryptocurrency, but in my opinion it is unlikely that Ethereum will not last forever, because many investors still support and invest in Ethereum for the long term, then besides that many altcoin use the platform from Ethereum (blockchain), so that's what makes me believe if Ethereum will more popular and can last forever.

Nevertheless, it will more likely go where bitcoin will be in the next few years. As bitcoin is seen as a currency that might last forever, therefore Ethereum has a high probability of surviving too in the near future. Actually, if we were to wonder if a certain coin would last forever, we cannot really affirm it since we'll be dead by that time for sure. For now, let us appreciate Ethereum's success and make the most from it while it lasts.

What makes you doubt about Ethereum? In fact, Ethereum is the second largest crypto platform by market cap after Bitcoin. Ethereum is a great investment option. Ethereum blockchain technology also supports different token currencies, such as ERC-20, Ethereum is not only a decentralized platform, but also a programming language. What is offered is decentralized applications or dApps. so no doubt about ethereum anymore my friend.

No need to dominate too long but maybe enough to add a few more decades, even complete a century, when the main trigger is bitcoin still alive, ethereum will still benefit from that angle and live forever

of course Ethereum can last forever, because Ethereum is like the heart of altcoin, so if Ethereum can't survive then of course altcoin won't be able to survive either, therefore as long as there are still many people who believe to investing in cryptocurrency, then of course Ethereum will still be able to survive and I'm sure Ethereum will last a long time, because many people still believe to investing in cryptocurrency for the long term.

I think it was ETH that open up the eyes of many into the Crypto space. Within the very short while this Crypto has been able to gain so much ground that it has made so much people a millionaires and billionaires. Bitcoin been the father of them all no dispute, we can all testify to that. But looking at it from the angle of so many projects that is based on the ethereum Blockchain technology. It enormous and to think if ethereum is going to last forever- YES. But one other thing I noticed lastly is the high gas fee on all the coins on the eth Blockchain technology and it really affect traders. They need to look into that and make the necessary adjustments.

In my opinion, Ethereum will last forever because Ethereum continues to show great promise. Even Wall Street along with some retail players are experiencing more interest in Ethereum. Not only will Ethereum last forever, it will also become the most powerful cryptocurrency in the world by market cap.

Cryptocurrency will indeed last a long time. but nothing will last forever. including ethereum. despite the big development and big market capitalization, but in the future, we all will not know about it.

As long as we have a civilization, the internet and Cryptocurrency is accepted Ethereum will continue, it is a project that keeps evolving, and for an organization to continue, it should have a plan for continuity, and for a big organization like Ethereum, it should have a long term plan even if their main developers is not around anymore, I'm sure they are going to hire talented people in their fold.

And a way for ETH to survive is to take care of their network otherwise, this will cut connection on them and find support from the other network. Like as we know that BSC network is somewhat spreading fast and it competitively moving strongly against ETH. If Mr. Vitalik doesn't give a big shot for their upgrades, this might be the way that ETH will make its way to going down. But, I don't believe this going to happen and I know that they will find a way to help it out and retain these thousand of projects that rely on the ETH network.

I think that Ethereum still has potential, developers don't neglect their product. They are improving it all the time. A lot of defi projects appear there, and now we all wait for the launch of Ethereum 2.0.
So I think that no altcoin is likely to replace Ethereum. And I continue holding Ethereum and buying more. In my opinion, the top-3 in the future will be still Bitcoin, Ehtereum and BNB.
