No relation between the pandemic and airdrops to be honest. I read your post twice and I am not sure what correlation you wanna make here?
AirDrops are just one of the ways to reward the investors, marketing strategy where company spends X% of tokens/coin completely free with few actions needed. For example following the company on social media, tweeting about them, making videos etc. Sometimes they are just ways to collect the user info and see how much peeps are interested in the project.

You can say pandemic might affect the investors in terms of finances and not with the free stuff.

It's not easy to answer this question, but I believe that it's all about luck. Whether or not a project is attractive isn't what makes a project a success, it's the developer's bidding and the sales strategy that determines it all. and airdrop hunters just take advantage of the opportunity to get lucky.

during difficult times like now I have never received a good offer of airdrop prizes, I prefer to join the bounty campaign instead of those unclear airdrop prizes. sometimes the airdrop gift is disappointing when it is given in my opinion.

I am not interested anymore in bulk airdrops without even one profitable payment. I tried to participated last few months ago in 50 different airdrops. Sadly I didn't even get a single payment with profitable value and the project gone. So I decided not to be part in airdrop anymore except if it is promote by one of the best crypto influencers like.

Personally I don’t find airdrops very profitable. The thing is that I always participate in such marketing campaigns, but I have never received anything from this. To my mind, we should follow the trend of NFTs now. So you can try playing NFT games, participate in their airdrops and test-versions. But this hype will not continue all the time, so when crypto “winter” begins, we will see good airdrops of promising projects, so we should be patient.

Actually, I'm not a fan of airdrops, but it looks like for now there are still some airdrops that can benefit. I have participated in several airdrops such as WPP, but, until now, have not been paid. however, for other projects, it seems that the airdrop is still quite profitable. For now, I'm just focused on following the bounty.

especially for wpp,I used to join a project from wpp, and I've been released on the digifinex market, I don't know now how it develops..
For airdrops, I believe in airdrop projects two years ago, such as Equal or Litecoingold, which are examples of airdrops that used to be very expensive and not as complicated as they are now.

those people who really review the project and not just for the sake of paid promotions but they really have a deeper engagements

Last airdrop that i joined is POT, i think some airdrop still worth as long we not send anything to someone. Although sometimes need capital, if should hold usually what we lose if the coin dumped but maybe if a lot of people joined, they can created demand. From what i see, i think still profitable as long we research the airdrop worth or not.

Unfortunately, the world still haven't recovered from the deadly covid-19 virus, and I guess we are forced to live with it now till there's an antidote for it, whilst legit airdrops are very scarce lately unlike when bitcoin was pumping insanely, they were tons of mind blowing airdrop e.g cope, samo , there are mad airdrop I saw a few people who make about $10k bucks when they were pumping insanely, for now I haven't seen any good airdrops, so have also stopped participating in them.
