First time Using cex.io and the last

I was looking to buy btc from somewhere and use it on another site.

I purchased a small amount roughly £30 worth of btc and tried to withdraw, Upon trying was greeted by an error that i needed to deposit atleast another £40 to withdraw money.
I would of thought they would have to say when buying somewhere that to withdraw x amount is needed.

Anyhow i decided to buy the rest so i could withdraw, so what will only take 30 mins to get my money and never use them again.

Woop! i have enough money to withdraw, i withdrawn put the btc addy to send it and get an email to verify.

You need to have more than 0.0025 btc in your account to be able to withdraw.
The mininum withdrawal amount on cex.io is 0.002BTC and the withdrawal fee is 0.0005BTC. It's mentioned here:

Withdrawal fee (floating)
0.0005

Upon checking my payment page:
Your payment is under compliance review.
We will email you if any details are required.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do for the monent but to wait for their compliance team to finish reviewing your account. In worst case scenario, they will ask you to verify your account.
Sorry you had to go through this but most centralized exchanges require identity verification especially when you by crypto with credit cards or bank transfers.

That's the tricky bit, they will never directly mention to you this when you are registering, but there's a term and conditions button which you usually check just as you are about to sign up



Always make it a habit to read the terms and conditions, deposit and withdrawal limits, trading and withdrawal fees. It could save you from such situations in the future.

You need to have more than 0.0025 btc in your account to be able to withdraw.
The mininum withdrawal amount on cex.io is 0.002BTC and the withdrawal fee is 0.0005BTC. It's mentioned here:

Yes they did this. I sent them all the info they wanted, i.e - images of my full browser of all the transactions into my stake account??? which is weird af, my id again which i had already verified etc. Upon more checking of this site i see its very common for peoples funds to be stuck for weeks. So i guess ill be submitting a chargeback with my bank.

It is very easy to get money there, but as soon as it comes to withdrawing funds, then you will face a bunch of obstacles. In general, it's amazing how, with a large selection of exchanges, your choice fell on such a trash heap. I have always wondered from such cases why people deliberately go to such exchanges and then face disappointment. Is there not enough information on the Internet about cex.io in order to understand exactly what you need to bypass this exchange and never contact?

Beginners, do not choose a no-name exchanges

Yes it was my own fault. the only reason in which i went with them is because coinbase had messed up a transaction, I had purchased btc from them. money left my account, and they have told me they didnt get the money and my account is on hold. They had removed my card so i cannot even pay the fee. but im in contact with them currently. i was using this trash site to buy btc to send over there to clear my balance.

CEX have now told me:

Mate, CEX.IO is not a no-name exchange for sure. Maybe you are relatively new to crypto but you can't say that cex.io is the lowest echelon exchange. they did the conversion from crypto to fiat and the payment to the bank account long before Binance was founded.
I use them for 7+ years and never had any problem with withdrawal from there. Even if it is crypto or fiat withdrawal. Not only registered there, but I also used them for larger amounts. it very often happened that I received money faster than the notification of the executed transaction.

to be clear, I am not involved in this exchange except as a customer of theirs.

Gonna back this comment because I use CEX before Binance exist for buying bitcoin using fiat. Actually they are first exchange that I know that accepts fiat except shapeshift and simplex at that time. I don't know what's going on CEX.io anymore but they are one of the trusted exchange out there when Binance still doesn't exist.

I am aware that this exchange has been around for quite some time. I first encountered it in early 2017, all sorts of shitcoins were traded there, which gave 10,000% per day, of course it was not worth it to participate in such trades.

When I say that the exchange is a no-name and from the second tier, this does not always mean that they have only recently appeared. The CEX.IO exchange has long lost its reputation, and it no longer has a name, just one title. This is a trash heap of the level of yobit and others, where listings of all garbage that no one needs are flocked to. This exchange functions like the yobit exchange, but it is definitely not worth getting in touch with, especially for beginners. And to trade bitcoin on this exchange ... I don't know what compelling arguments should be in order to choose cex.io for such operations.

Sorry, our opinion on this matter can vary greatly, and if you have found your convenient niche in using this exchange, then this is your right, I will not persuade you.

I think you messed up something here. On CEX.IO there was never a pile of shitcoin, they even delisted DOGE coin out in due time because he looked frivolous meme coin.
Maybe you think about C-Cex ^{I can't remember their domain, I think they've been dead a long time} exchange and yes this is something different and your comment is appropriate for them.

The point is that new users agree with the Terms of Use and even more so, they agree with the Payment policies and the like before making a deposit. The customers are required to put a check mark to confirm that the conditions are read and accepted.

Still, we can’t control whether the person really has read them or not. It’s the person’s responsibility.

We all run into this especially if its a test transaction but I really feel they need to have something that will alert first time buyers the minimum withdraw the exchange has set because they can't have the option of a minimum buy of coins which is different from the allowed number of coins. For me I see this to be a hustle because the gain on fees on every transaction made.

Very annoying right...I think its a trap set by them, they know most customers will never use these services if they knew about all these prerequisites, so what better way to apply them after deposting funds.

Maybe you can implement some specific things in your platform. For example, the user can't create a deposit address or make any deposit before passing KYC. Just disable this by your side and you will reduce the possibility of such problems to a minimum.

Just imagine, an exchange that has 100+ different currencies how much notification they need to have, probably one for any currency and minimum withdraw amount.
I can bet that @babyava will from now on first watch the minimum withdrawal before registering anywhere or buying anything. this is called learning and gaining experience.
