You can try a 6 to 8 pin adapter cable like this:

https://www.amazon.com/outstanding-Graphics-Extension-Adapter-Converter/dp/B08HLQTW1X/ref=sr_1_15?dchild=1&keywords=6+pin+pcie+to+8pin&qid=1628022381&sr=8-15

But mind how many watts you pull.  216w or less.  Which the 1660 should be no issue.

It depends on the model,I had a Gigabyte 1050 ti which needed a 6 Pin external power while many of the 1050 ti do not need this. The model I had was 120 watt power consumption and not 75 watt like others but it could do about 16 Mhsh in Ethereum compared to regular ones at 14-15 Mhsh.I think you have the same,Gigabyte version of 1660 needs a 8 pin power connector and I don't think it will work 6 pins.

The difference between the 8pin and 6pin connectors is in the two additional ground contacts. It has no difference in power. So, you can use the adapter if it does not work from 6 pins.

This is correct.

Also a 1660 should never pull over 100 watts. The adapter should be fine.

use an app like afterburner just in case you want to limit the power draw, or see the current limit. i doubt it will pull a lot of watts (more than 150 at full load) just like others have said.

An adapter will be the best solution, but when it is not available in stores, you will lose your profit.
If your power supply is not under warranty, then you can buy any 8-pin adapter at your nearest store and then cut off your 6-pin connector on the power supply and solder the 8-pin connector.
The wires must be soldered and insulated with heat shrink

Chinese adapters are made of bamboo alloy and are very poorly soldered...

Plugin the 6 Pin connector and give it a try. I think it will work and no adapter is needed.

You need to check such points before buying. With a light load, nothing will happen, but while this adapter is working, you can order connectors, cable and tools in China, and make the adapter yourself.
I got a lot of these adapters from buying video cards. Previously, manufacturers put several pieces in a box with a video card and they are of very high quality.
Better to look for such adapters.

Anyone that buy new graphics card will have that adapter you are talking about cos they always come with the GPU package, OP probably don't buy new graphics card though, they are available everywhere online at very affordable price
