I transferred BNB Smart Chain through a company, and clicked BNB erc20. The money never made it to the company I sent the money to. My question is did I just lose my money? Or is there a way to recover the funds? I contacted the company, and they said they never got the funds so they can't help me. I have used this site: https://www.[Suspicious link removed]s/academy.binance.com/en/articles/how-to-recover-crypto-transferred-to-the-wrong-network-on-binance.amp and a few others. I think I found the private key, but only got $9 dollars, and some odd cents, but I transferred about $400.

If they say so, your $400 already loss and can't be recover by you. However, in logical they can get your money by enter the private key of the company address to any wallet that support ERC20. Because BEP20 and ERC20 has same address and same private key, but it's just run in different smart contract.
What private key do you found? If it's your address you can't access your BNB.

If I draw a conclusion from your story, it seems that you have experienced a loss due to the theft of your money by another party, and if I may know before you sent the money, in what wallet did you keep that $400 money? I had that money in Trust Wallet. It wasn't fraud. It was my fault. I chose BNB ER20 by mistake instead of BNB Smart Contact. Its confusing.

Ok, thanks. I just e-mailed the company. Hopefully they can help me out. The Private key I found was my own address. That makes sense. I was wondering how I had access to the private key. Cause that would mean if I made a transaction to pay somebody, and I could back out of it which shouldn't be allowed.

Can you explain it even more? What type of address that used as receiver of your fund? does it use like bnbxxxx or 0xxx? If you are sending binance smart chain coin that already swapped from the binance native coin and then you will not lose your money dude. I guess you must try to explain more about that.
There are two address that linked to the BNB 1. Started with bnbxxxx act as native BNB 2. 0xxx as binance chaiin and this chain compliant with ethereum.

Basically, since you have sent it to other parties, then there's no way you can recover it by yourself. The funds are now in their wallet.
The article you read won't able to help you too. By the way, what company is this? Can you tell us? Anyhow, since you have emailed them now, try to update us here so we can provide a better answer.

Only the holder of the wallet where you sent the BNB private keys can help out in this situation but something is missing in your explanation which I expect others to have to ask you to get to the bottom of this issue. First, don't give your wallet private or seeds to anybody. 1) Is the company a legit company? 2) What is their name? 3) Where is the transaction tx ID 4) What is the wallet address is given to you by the company as a payment address?

Hey @doug2123, good thing that you have access to your private key and it means the chances of recovering your fund into other wallets that supported both networks ( BEP-20 and ERC-20) wallet is quite high. I think it is better to read this article made by Binance to avoid that confusion by next time and on How to Recover Crypto Transferred to the Wrong Network on Binance.Use Trust wallet or Metamask wallet since they are both supported both networks. ( BEP-20 and ERC-20)

Are you sure about this? It was an invalid address format. But even it's correct (or you shared the TX id here instead) it won't solve the problem because it's still out of your control and only them can look at that transaction. Since they are " legit" according to you then I hope they can respond positively to you. Did they respond already?

How about the BNB erc-20? Was the transfer successful when you sent $400 to that invalid address? Double check the address as you may have sent to a different wallet. It should be easy for the company to recover the BNB sent using the wrong chain if they're using a non-custodial wallet. You'll have more problem if they are employing a third party custodial service.

Well, all of the above are simple yet elemental questions when dealing with TXes. If in doubt always check the blockchain to see if the transaction was successful or not. If successful is a matter of associating the payment with senders i.e your address. I'm aware the latter doesn't apply here but it's good to know for future reference. Usually mistakes like this happen a lot when transferring with memo and no memo was included.

ERC20 and Binance smart chain are different networks, although it has a similar address started by 0x..... If you want to send a coin using Binance smart Chain, you should use BSC (BEP20), it is different from ERC20 (in which it is on the Ethereum network). If they also accept ERC20 and BSC on their platform, they may be helping you. But if they don't accept one of them, it may be a problem. If you are confused with the difference between BSC and ERC20, you can read this: https://academy.binance.com/en/articles/binance-smart-chain-vs-ethereum-what-s-the-differenceAnd you can also read this folowing information provided by Binance: How to Recover Crypto Transferred to the Wrong NetworkOh, I see, you have contacted the company, hopefully, you can get good replies and help from them. Can you explain it even more? What type of address that used as receiver of your fund? does it use like bnbxxxx or 0xxx? There are two address that linked to the BNB 1. Started with bnbxxxx act as native BNB 2. 0xxx as binance chaiin and this chain compliant with ethereum.
He said using Binance smart chain, so it will be the same, using 0x...., similar with the ERC20.

You didn't lose your money. I contacted the company, and they said they never got the funds so they can't help me.
Just check it your deposit address use bscscan and your funds must be there I have used this site: https://www.[Suspicious link removed]s/academy.binance.com/en/articles/how-to-recover-crypto-transferred-to-the-wrong-network-on-binance.amp and a few others. I think I found the private key, but only got $9 dollars, and some odd cents, but I transferred about $400. Your BSC smartchain already stored on the deposit address. BNB erc20 was still using ethereum compliant address and that means it will able to be used to send or receive your BSC chain. The company must have checked it through bscscan.
