Simple as that, when people rush to use ETH then gas fee will be high, when people go to BSC because ETH gas fee is high, then there will be less people in ETH world and that will drop the price.

The other day I wanted to check how much would it be to swap my USDT to ETH in ETH network, never did that first thing so I had to pay that AND for swap at the same time, you know the thing you pay before your first ever swap for that token, then it is free, that thing and swap together costs 40 dollars. That is not going to make ETH appeal to anyone, there are people who use it of course but they do not prefer that neither, so it will gradually go down because people like me will keep on leaving until price reaches to a decent level.

With the development of the crypto world, Ethereum currently has several competitors. Although Ethereum may still be more popular, because
Ethereum already exists before the others, but as time goes by, Ethereum can definitely be replaced if it doesn't innovate for the better.

It will take time for other similar coin to take over ETH because ETH was already popular since a long time ago and the market capitalization is multiple time of BNB but BSC is doing really well at how it can bring many projects to their platform although it's now looks like it's stuck.
The others simply become alternative for ETH and maybe will always stay like that.

There are already blockchains that are also growing BSC, TRON, Polygon, and Solana and on these network transaction cost is quite less as compare to ethereum chain. Ater London hardfork upgrade ethereum is more demanding in the market due to deflationary model adoption. BSC, Polygon, Tron, or Solana are alternative platforms that can be an option. their platform is even claimed to be better than ethereum and has a cheaper fee. so they are potential competitors of ethereum in the future. actually currently ethereum is not the main choice for developers, they are more interested in BSC. I see that since the fees on the ethereum network have increased, new projects released are using more BSC. This proves that the competition in the Smart contract platform has already started.
