There are plenty of blockchain that is now competing with Ethereum such as Polygon network, binance smart chain, solana chain and even cardano is now creating its blockchain that will definitely a very huge competitor of ethereum in the future.

we've been waiting for something that ignites the market like the competition is happening now.
from some of the projects you mentioned, I believe the dominance now lies in ethereum and the binance smart chain. but we can't forget how now SOL is growing with some tokens also born from its chain.

Right now i can say Cardano. Basically everyone else is bullshit.

Cardano seems to be the best positioned right now to compete with Ethereum. They made big improvements on Bitcoin/Ethereum and will be 'finished' in March 2021 while Ethereum has high gas fees and is transitioning to PoS which will still take a couple of years and is a very complex task.

Although, these alt settlement layers aren't really competing with ETH anymore, they are competing with layer 2 (Loopring, Matic, etc).

Different projects require different platforms which OP may actually need something else other than ETH for less transaction fee. There are other platforms like TRX or EOS which has cheaper transaction fee, EOS is even free. But why are projects didn't prefer EOS and TRX is I guess they also have limitations as to what they can do to projects.

But with ETH, the network is already big and the project can easily create a big community than using other networks. Marketing purpose still is one reason for picking ETH as a candidate blockchain.

IMO, there are no need for any "new" blockchain. Existing blockchains such as Cardano are enough to replace Ethereum completely, if the developers could take care of the bugs and security issues. We already have too many cryptocurrencies and blockchains for the same purpose, and I don't think that there is a room for anymore. That said, I am very interested in some of the fourth generation blockchain projects that are in development currently. Who knows? Maybe in the next 4-5 years some of them maybe able to replace third generation projects such as Cardano.

I would not say that everyone else is shit. First of all Cardano blockchain in the sense that it is fast and cheap and has so many layers that help so much is great, so I am not going to argue that ADA is bad, it is good, even great. However just because you like ADA doesn't make the other ones wrong or worse, it just makes them... different basically.

I still support ethereum itself, BSC, solana, matic, dot all of them are great, in the crypto world it is not good to promote one and bash the others, you will not win anything that way and you will crash and burn together and skyrocket together. Which is why I prefer the situations where all of them go up together, hence all those coins I listed are great, I would love to see them increase like crazy if possible. Obviously some of them may fail in the long run but I hope that does not happen anytime soon.

People are talking about Solana as if it was a ethereum strongest competitor. Well, Honestly, there are advanced and innovative tokens and blockchains which easily defeat etheruem on any scale. But you can't replace ethereum just by that. Everyone was talking about Ethereum to replace bitcoin in the past and now, BItcoin is still the strongest cryptocurrency on the world with obsolete, origin techs

Solana is a good coin, it might take the 3rd position from Binance.
