Does copper membership limit rank?

Please help me comprehend why this is so. This account has enough merits and activity to be a legendary account but somehow the account remains a copper member. The user has good reviews so I know the account wasn't restricted because of a crime. Is this an abnormality that is  special to this account or does buying copper membership affect one's ability to rank up?

No. There is no limitation for a copper member.
Anyone who has purchased copper membership can choose whether to wear copper membership or not.
actmyname has decided to wear copper membership and can choose to not wear it at any time. Note that this doesn't mean he/she doesn't have the benefits of a legendary member.

If you want to know the real rank of a user wearing copper membership, just visit one of his/her posts. The real rank is displayed under the avatar.

There is your answer, under his posts or replies, you will be able to see his Legendary rank alongside the Copper membership rank. So No, Copper Membership does not limit Rank. The purpose of  copper membership is to have newbie restrictions such as signature space lifted.

... Just below where it says copper member and above the badges - you can also check the badges though.

As mentioned, you can turn membership on and off quite easily once purchased so if for example you only wanted it as a low rank - you could do that.

Some people bought a copper member rank just to have early access of being member rank but of course, there's no limitation on it actmyname is one of the active members on the forum even though he reaches the legendary rank he has the rights to show or hide the copper member rank. If you want some additional title you can buy copper member too but having this it's not saying you are except to the rules.
