What will happen if someone powers a GPU through USB3.0 slots meant for sharing data? Will the GPU be detected just like when using a riser in the pcie x4 lanes or will this start a 🔥? Just curious lol

No you can't connect a GPU by just plugging in the USB riser into a USB slot. If anything you might cause some damage because there are some power supply pins there which might end up going to the wrong pin on the GPU and fry something.

The only reason why riser manufacteurs used an USB cable is because its widely available and has enough pins to power the data from a GPU. So instead of designing a brand new cable which takes data from riser into the motherboard, they decided to save money and time by just using a cable thats already out there.

Don't plug in your riser USB into a USB slot.

Do that and start fire in your home 😅😅, I'm sure the voltage wiring of normal usb slot is different to that of USB slots for GPUs, motherboards like the picture below have USB slots for GPUs only made specifically for mining, don't let that confuse you that are just normal usb slots

Yes Riser using USB carries only data signal...no power.

USB provides 5V and while im unsure what it would do if anything...i sure wouldnt do this.  It obviously will not work...at best it does nothing...at worst it breaks some things or all things.

Also dont go sticking forks into wall sockets / toasters.     Roll Eyes

Don't use things for what they aren't made for you will end up destroying them and getting injured in the process, if you want a motherboard with USB slots for GPU then find them, it doesn't mean that USB 2.0/3.0 in front and back of a Motherboard can work for GPUs too
