Hi, I’ve started trying hobby-mining with my home pc.
I’ve tried mining RavenCoin through many miners (gminer, t-rex miner, phoenix miner) but all have shown the same problem: as soon as I start mining, my MSI GTX 970 gpu usage starts fluctuating between 0 and 100% while power stays around 50% (https://ibb.co/XLCXBqk).

I already tried to increase paging file size and to force the gpu going in p0 state, with no success.

Any Ideas?
Thank you

SPECS:
CPU: Intel Core i5 4590
GPU: MSI GTX 970 4GB
RAM: Corsair Value select DDR3 1600 MHz 16GB (8x2)
PSU: ALIMENTATORE MODULARE LC-POWER LC8650II 650W 80+ BRONZE
MB: GIGABYTE GA-H97M-HD3

I'll take a look, thanks

And what abput hashrate? is it fluctuating too?

No, it is nearly constant at a low value I guess (1.5/1.6 MH/s).

Gtx970s works better on older Nvidia drivers, new drivers are for fixing issues on RTX GPUs, try older drivers like the 3** series and use Nicehash mining software instead, this will benchmark your GPU for mining and use the best most profitable algorithm for your 970

For the GTX9x0 you must change to compute mode in the Nvidia Driver. My GTX970 do around 3mh at ERG and after switching to compute mode it run with 37mh for example.

What? Only AMD driver needs to be change to compute mode to work better for mining this is the time I'm hearing about compute mode on Nvidia cards is this for real? Anyone on here please confirm this

No this old nvidia GPU´s have also such option in driver. Newer Nvidia cards didn´t have this. I only know the GTX9x0 series.

Ethash performance goes also up to 21mh for zilliqa mining. Before changing this i get only 3mh or so.

Lol there is nothing to confirm, i confirm it, because i changed this setting in my driver and i see hashrate increased after changing this  Roll Eyes and i described this in the past, but mostly people give a shit about my advices  Cheesy

I tried installing 3 versions of 3** driver (348, 352 and 358) but none of them made my gpu recognizable, idk why. However, using the latest drivers, NiceHash detects the GPU and it mines at 100% usage constant in time.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION!! Thank you! Now with all the miners the GPU goes to 100% usage. Mining raven with t-rex i now get 3.9/4 MH/s (vs 1.5/1.6 MH/s as before)... is it good or not?
Thank you again!

Holy crap! That's why Verthash is so bad on Windows. Linux doesn't have this problem. Thanks.

AMD Radeon RX 470 4GB - KawPow12.50 Mh/s @ 150W
https://whattomine.com/gpus/24-amd-radeon-rx-470-4gb?cost=0.1
Profit $1.43 per day
Your profit is 3 times less.
I discouraged everyone from mining on 6-7 year old video cards, but if you like it, then continue. Just clean the video card, replace the thermal paste and thermal pads, because during this time the thermal pads lose their properties.

This is worse than mining Ethereum with zombie mode, if this is the only 4gb card he has it's better to insert into pcie x16 slot and fire on lolminer using HiveOS, reward is almost 2$ right now or even more depending on which pool you use
