That's correct. But it was just the basics of investment.
The crucial part is when and how? If you decided on a short-term investment you should also have a plan on when you will withdraw it.
The same goes for long-term investment. Make a date, put it in memory.
You should also not resist the withdrawal even if you see pumps happening left and right. Once you start to defy them, all the plans will not work out anymore, you will get used to it and it becomes a bad habit.
When to withdraw is as important as when to buy.
If the altcoin goes up very sharply, but you don’t sell it and only sell it at a low level, then the increase is meaningless for you.

short term hold and Long term hold are two different strategy .
sometimes you can always change your strategy according to the situation.
A short term holder would redeem his profit on a small margin while a long term holder would not care for the market fluctuation but would bet on the future of the coin.
It also depends on how easy you feel to trade your coin and how much time you can spare to make your orders.so don’t just follow famous people, you must Choose the investment strategy that suits you best.
The easiest method to get rich is to buy and stake cryptos like Ethereum, Celo, and NEAR then start selling the staking rewards when the market goes up.

I also have to change  my strategy according to the situation. Some coins allow me to take them for the long term. It's about mainstream currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB. but some coins I buy for short-term holding and I will sell them as soon as their trend changes. For example, I buy tokens of NFT-games while there is a hype around this sphere.

Yes that's a good advice some people often choose to hodl but when they look at the market after 3 days or just 1 week they are panicking and sell their holdings, I really think you should know to yourself what kind of trader you are and where you are comfortable at before investing to either trading or investment.

well, i can probably be called the type of hodler, or the type of person who holds coins for long periods of time. however, as you said, all of that can change based on the conditions. however, being flexible would be great, as it could bring you a huge advantage. apart from that, having a short term or long term strategy, it has its own advantages and disadvantages. I think everyone prefers one of them, but I like being flexible.

If they decide to sell their holdings and panic to see the price it goes down, that will be the mistake because they will not make anything except losing their money value.
If they can still hold and buy back for more when the price is down, they will see their profit will come to them.
But that will only be for the potential coins because not all coins can profit and they need to search by themselves.
Investing needs calculation of the money and how long the time to hold the investment so we know when we can sell the investment and leave the market temporary.

I think setting a strategy in investing really depends on what coin we hold. to follow famous people I think it's only natural that we also hold assets like they hold, meaning that we follow their advice in making a profit

As for me, I always choose to follow my instinct without having to care on whatever anybody says basically because I've regretted couple times on my self-denial.

That is true, one need to be sure of his investment tactics and know that, what works for a person might hardly work for you, maybe it could be the person is always ready for long term holding, so I think it's very important to have your own strategy than following that of others, although you can still take a clue from them.
Secondly, holders should learn a very important thing which is, not all coins are good for long term and vice versa, some are only good for short term while some good for long term, so let no one be carried away by what the team are saying and leaves his coins for long term while the signs are there it's already for short term.
Talking about long term, a lot of project developers might come with good features and all that, along the line lost it, thus one need to be sure the team are ready to offer or better still know when to change strategy if things are not working as anticipated.

changing strat in the middle of the term will make you look like your confuse .
i dont recomend that but it would be alright if you can just stick on one strategy until its terms have been finished because that is the best way to know if you are succesful of what you chose or not .
im not new in this field and i somehow know the coins movement ,also im not rushing so long term is perfect to me

Actually, I can't claim which one is the best of the two because each has its advantages and disadvantages. Investors themselves can determine whether they are more suitable for short trading or long-term investing, or they can do a combination of both so that they can divide their portfolio between those used for short trading and long-term investments.
but I choose short-term holdings, and my advice is to look for stock objects that have fairly active movements up and down on a daily basis or high volatility and also should not be greedy with the price target to be achieved because usually the results to be achieved are not large. Here the Trader has the motto "little but routine" so that from a little but often it will also be big.
