Any FREE linux distro for setting up small rig 4cards?

Hi guys,

As I got finally some energy resources for prime-economic rates I decided to support ETH network with about 350Mhs on 4 different Nvidia RTX range cards.

Asking for tips if there is some well configured, preinstalled with miners and drivers distro without fees or trojans? That I don't need to spend time looking how to resolve repo conflicts or installing CUDA.
Debian based solutions preferred.

1 rig is free for most OS, use HIVE OS, is really easy to use.

Actually I'm using two rigs on hive and it's 100% free, there are others too like msOS and Nicehash OS that are completely free even if you add more than 4 rigs I just choose hiveOS for few reasons like tweaking/downclocking

You can use Ubuntu as it works well for what you are trying to do.It is not mining specific but it can easily be made to mine like I am doing at home with my 2 x GTX 1050 ti,and for the card that runs at 82 degree Celsius it is a small fan factor which is running inside my Z workstation that is why it stays 82 degree all the time.






You just download the specific miner,in my case is T-rex because I am using Nvidia cards only at my home workstation.You edit the script files with your wallet and then run them with the command below for example to mine ETC:

./ETC-2miners.sh

I also use Ubuntu and I didn't have any problem for recognizing all my RX 570.
Even if you are not familiar with Linux, you easily find all command lines to type with a quick search on Google.

I know,but that card is removed from a working environment which had a lot of dust in them.I have power limit it to 70% with the built in Linux command :

sudo nvidia-smi -pl 70

I got it for free as I said from a workstation which needed an upgrade so as long as it lasts I am happy and cannot leave it out in the air (has to stay inside the case) because I have a small kid just above 1.5 years.

Just saying, have you try changing its thermal pad? Or if thermal pads aren't available on the GPU mem chips you can create yours I'm sure this will drastically reduce the temp of the GPU

I'm using three rigs on hiveOS as we speak and it's for free, it's been weeks that I sent the whole rigs up completely and they have been running fine since then, I've used minerstat OS and MMPOS but I just like hiveOS better, once you find a way to understand how the thing works you will find it hard to choose another over hiveOS

Some thoughts on trojans.
Trojans on a mining farm do not threaten security if you mine to the address of a hardware wallet and do not store private keys or backups on the mining farm.
You manage your farm remotely.
If you see from statistics that your farm has a low uptime, then you will immediately take action. Hiveos and raveos are proven systems.

Thing is on 1050ti it will start to throttle at 83c and shut down at 90c.

I would redo paste chances are it is dry and crusty and doing little to nothing for the card.
A quick repaste will likely drop it back into 70s or lower.

Or just to use a pushing fan because it seems to be a RIG so for sure, all graphic cards are close to each other.
The last time I had this kind of t° on a graphic card, a flame appeared and burnt a component of the card...

It is running in 96 Degree now,I don't know how long it will last but I think it is a problem with the temperature sensor as the fans are running normally on the card,anyway it is not a rig,it is my home PC and nothing has happened during August which was a really hot month in here,now that the temperatures are 23 Degree Celsius I don't think it will start a fire,maximum it will die out as a card.As you have seen here MSI looks like a really strong brand that is supporting this temperature since August.

Sorry for late post, but finally I went for latest debian distro for my rig, installing cuda was just few commands that you can easily find online. Different story than 8 years ago when last time I had to setup mining platform.
My rtx3090 are 125Mhs on ethash  with strong air cooling.

This is your fault. I have a rig with a RX570, this card running with 87C degress for over 1 year know, nothings happen. Cards can run with up to 120 degress without burning. Newer cards like the 3090 have mem temps up to 120C stock.

82C degress is to hot for an 1050ti, i have one without a fan an it is running at 65C while it mining. Change the thermal paste will help.

It happens that the temperature sensor shows incorrect values. Maybe the heatsink of the cooling system is not tightly attached to the chip. If the miner is not a stupid person, then he will check this first of all. Some video cards that have been mining for 4-5 years sometimes have such problems.
