I can't get the coins from my old metmask.  Apparently it was my mistake after some glitch/hack I don't know a couple weeks ago.  When I opened up my new metamask account it said "backup secet recovery/seed phrase".  I did so and thought I did this before with the old one. I have the original address of the metmask account, but apparently I wrote down the seed phrase wrong or it was some second account of that original account.

I openend up my second account on metmask and after deleting it in the atttemps to recover the first one I had to add all the custom tokens back to the second metmask account.

I don't want to delete the second metamask account's many custom tokens in the attempt to recover the first.

So I have the original metmask account address and the password.  If I, in fact, pressed "backup recovery/seed phrase". is there a way for me to  recover that first phrase so I can recover the first account?

Thank you.

Are you saying you do not have the right seed phrase backup with you again because the wallet was hacked and you decided to open a new wallet. You only have the address and your password to the old Metamask wallet, but the address is not needed for the wallet recovery also is the password which is not also needed for the recovery. If you want to recover back that old wallet, you need the seed phrase to the old wallet for the recovery.

There's no recovery feature for metamask unless you backup the seed phrase of your first account by yourself. Holding your address and password alne is not enough since it's just a secondary details of the account, Seed phrase is the most important thing to remember and keep safe. Try to browse on your download history and maybe you download the json file as backup for your wallet.

- Do you have the ethereum address that holds all of your altcoins?
- And have you saved the seed phrase that is linked to that ETH address?

If I, in fact, pressed "backup recovery/seed phrase". is there a way for me to  recover that first phrase so I can recover the first account?
If you don't have the seed phrase of your first account then it's impossible for your altcoin to be recovered as well. Password wallet and the address alone won't help.

There's no recovery feature for metamask unless you backup the seed phrase of your first account by yourself.
This is true. However, this is only usable if the user forgot to write down the seed phrase that is being shown when the user was first creating the account. You can just go to

Account > Setting > Security and Privacy > Enter the password > Reveal secret code.

What do you mean wrong? Was it not recognized by Metamask or was it accepted but you ended up in different set of wallets.

One account generates multiple addresses. The seed phrase of wallet 1 (original account as you say) should be the same as the seed phrase of wallet 2 (second account as you say). edit - Just to clarify, I was thinking of MEW here when I said this.

The original seed phrase I wrote down on my desktop's preferences pulls up a metamask account but it has no coins or value in it.  I don't have to add the custom coins there are just none on there.  If I wrote it down wrong, I am told it would just not "accept the seed phrase" which is what happens if I guess a misspelled word.  The account for that seed phrase is now a new account? or it was a new account generated on an empty second account I created by mistake before and couldn't erase.  I had made a second and even third empty account that said zero because I am new to metmask.

I have the original account and the coins are still there on bscan.  I have the password.  I have what I thought was the original seed phrase but when I enter it the account comes up all goose eggs.  No coins, there were many on the old one and still on the bscan.  Can't figure out why if the seed phrase is wrong, then why does it pop up at all? I knew how important the seed phrase was in the beginning.  I know it's my mistake? but it was probably clicking on a firefox update before this happened or downloading Big Sur to my Mac.  If it was hacked then why are all the coins there? If it's the wrong seed phrase then why the Metamask accept it.  If I simply added account 2 and account 3 would they have generated a different account address.

When I reset the original account it gave me a new address with what I thought was the original seed phrase? I have that.  Very curious? thank you for considering.  I own the decisions, but I would still like to het the coins if I could.

I don't know the likelihood of that happening on Metamask but it happened quite often when I was trying to restore another wallet on a different blockchain before (Waves).

From my experience on Meta, one wrong/misspelled word would not allow me to import.

I know it's my mistake? but it was probably clicking on a firefox update before this happened or downloading Big Sur to my Mac.
I doubt that. Any web browser update won't affect your previously generated seed phrase.

If I simply added account 2 and account 3 would they have generated a different account address.
Yes, you will get a new address when you click create account. How many addresses have you made so far?

When I reset the original account it gave me a new address with what I thought was the original seed phrase? I have that.  Very curious?
I don't know mate. Maybe you really have another account prior to what you though as orginal?

You were creating a new account with the new seedphrase and it would not possible to return your old seed phrase for your old address. that's why it's better to avoid metamask and it's far better to use MEW or mycrypto as you will be able to get keystore for your wallet and you will be able to recover it anytime.

I will give you a way to check your seed phrase, it seems like your old address may be changed with the new one.

Try to download mycryptodesktop wallet here https://download.mycrypto.com/

then you can try to input your seedphrase through the view and send menu. As far as i know that if 1 seed phrase was containing a lot of addresses and you can try to see that whole address that is available in your seed phrase. im not sure this will be working for BSC asset but it's worth trying to check the availability of your old wallet in your seed

I hardly grasp what are the problems you have. Let me just ask a few questions to put up things clear.

So, how many seed phrases do you have available right now? If it is more than one, the seeds phrase doesn't exactly the same right?

Also, If you have one, it refers to this right?
I have the original account and the coins are still there on bscan.  I have the password.  I have what I thought was the original seed phrase but when I enter it the account comes up all goose eggs.
You just "thought" it is the wrong seed since when you recover using that, there is none of the coins right?

Here are the things, one seed phrase/secret recovery seed phrase does hold many accounts (addresses), Metamask does not showing up all the addresses if you just recovering using the seed phrases, you need to manually add the account(addresses) back to your wallet.

So, I suggest you try to look upon below link:

Your narration is not detailed enough a bit confusing, try to always keep things like this simple for a better understanding. Well a wrongly backed up phrase is gone, and nothing can be done about it if the original wallet has been deleted. Metamask is a non custodian wallet and as such, they can't help you.

Holding a password to any wallet is not enough to recover that wallet in question, a wallet password was put in place to limit unapproved access to your wallet, that is, in case where someone accesses your device, the person won't be able to login in to your wallet. The only thing needed to recover a wallet is the wallet private keys or backup seed phrase, in the absence of any or these, that wallet will never be recovered.
Just to advice, whenever you are creating a wallet, first and foremost get a pen and a paper, such that, as you are creating the wallet, you are writing the backup seed phrase down immediately, after which you keep the book in secure place.
So, if you can remember where you kept the backup seed phrase, then you can be able to access or recover the wallet.
