Hi guys, As the topic already says, i bought a btc atm. I know im a bit late to the party maybe, but it was a bargain Anyway, the thing looks pretty cool. Its powers on and does show the ''buy and sell buttons'' on it touchscreen display. Sadly (athough i have put in the LAN cable for internet) the machine keeps saying that it ''has no internet connection'' and that i have to enter a password. (''Sumo Pro cannot be operated withouth an internet connection'') Then i went to Google, and searched myself a headache. The manufacture of the machine (Bitxatm) is (probably) out of business, since their website is no longer working. Aslo i can never find something like a setupmanual for it. Someone here who has experience with a machine like this? Can i still do anything with it? Or has it become useless now Bitxatm.com is gone? Thanks in advance!

I'd go with DdmrDdmr's sollution first, and if it doesn't pan out, you can always try twitter: the reseller (bitxatm) does have a twitter account: https://twitter.com/bitxatmThis being said, they did not retweet anything since 2017, but if you send them a DM, the original owner might (or might not) still get an e-mail message alerting him/her of your DM, and he/she might (or might not) be willing to help you out. But like i said: it's a longshot... EDIT: after thinking about your problem: can't the person who sold you this item help you out? The odds are that it has a fixed network config and isn't using DHCP, and it might not be able to reach the internet due to your LAN's setup (hence, give you the message it's not connected to the internet). Also, the person who sold it to you should be able to provide you with info about passwords (and network config).

I am hoping you can be able to operate your Bitcoin ATM machine for some profits in your locality. Sad to know that the company dealing with the ATM machine has already gone six feet below the ground so the next step is the one posted by DdmrDdmr who is a good researcher by the way...you need to go to the ultimate maker of the machine to found out the mechanics operating the said box. And it would be good if you can update us with developments of your ATM machine. By the way, is there any legal requirements for putting up such a "vending money machine" in your locality?

Thanks for the reply's all. i emailed the manufacturer, lets hope someone still reads it Or maybe someone with some experience with this kind of machines comes by here ^^ The guy i bought the machine from didnt have any technical knowledge whatsoever, so that was a dead end. I didnt dive into the legal requirements yet, its more like a hobby project for now. Also i found this, not that usefull, but atleast i found someone with a machine. Gonna try my luck here too https://xpansa.com/blockchain/bitcoin-atm-owner-review/?mode=grid

Why the hell is he telling us he bought some Bitcoins. Thousands and thousands people do that. Noting worth to mention. My next thought then was, or maybe he means an ATM machine? But no one can be that crazy! So what are your plans with this device? That is in my opinion the much more exciting question

I think my first concern will be if you can re-configure the receiving Bitcoin address on the machine? Can you restore to the factory defaults to remove and re-configuration whatever was on the machine before? You do not want this machine to send all the coins received or funded by you, to go through a backdoor to some other recipient? (Also firmware) We know some people hijack hardware wallet deliveries and they open the boxes to copy the seed words... and then they close the box again and use that seed on another wallet to take whatever is send to that wallet by the recipient.

Nice support man! you are the best man. Looks like you supported bitcoin from another level of enthusiasm. Hope you get some good things out of it and hope it will become a trend in your place. I think making a post on social media will help you as well. Most people are curious about how that ATM works, they also wanted to try it for the first time. honestly, if that was close to where I am right now, I would have tried it too and post my honest review here.

But no one can be that crazy! So what are your plans with this device? That is in my opinion the much more exciting question I dont have plans with it yet, want to get it up and running first. The machine crossed my path and i could snipe it for a fun price. For now its more like a hobby project I think my first concern will be if you can re-configure the receiving Bitcoin address on the machine? Can you restore to the factory defaults to remove and re-configuration whatever was on the machine before? The machine came new from the (wooden) nailed box. I could see it was never been opened. Also the protective plasitc and such was still on it, cardrigde were seperatly packed etc. I am pretty sure it is in factory settings now. It starts up perfectly, but then after a few seconds a window pops up wich won't close, asking for internet + password. Thats about how far i got (see screenshot) https://i.imgur.com/fZqWnhC.jpg If get it to work (doubtfull still), i might put it outside.

Sadly (athough i have put in the LAN cable for internet) the machine keeps saying that it ''has no internet connection'' and that i have to enter a password. (''Sumo Pro cannot be operated withouth an internet connection'')
It was probably using some server for communication and that server is now down along with their website and everything else. I checked wayback machine for their website and it looks like they are not operational for years. http://web.archive.org/web/20200101000000*/bitxatm.com However it looks like they are still active on twitter and they have posted email contact there in 2021: https://twitter.com/bitxatm/status/1414054951693668354One more interesting thing I found is that other Canadian company called PlutoBTM is making and selling almost identical looking devices and they are still alive and operational: https://youtu.be/FoCjqYRd6mUhttps://plutobtm.com/

Have you tried using a different LAN cable [it might be just a faulty one]? Aslo i can never find something like a setupmanual for it.
It looks like both BitXatm and PlutoBTM use the exact same "model & software" and since they're still around [website - locations], you might want to try contacting them as well: Or has it become useless now Bitxatm.com is gone?
I don't know about that, but found an interesting article about one of their employees: Inside Job Theft Cripples Bitheus’ BitXatm Network

Ah, the good ol'BitXatm. Brings back memories... I used to operate one. Sorry to rain on your parade, but you can't operate one without their server. They used a custodial wallet because their business model was to take a cut from every transaction. The company went out of business when, allegedly, one of their employees took off with the wallets of most of their machines. 100+ BTC I think it was. Mine included. Also, allegedly, the police caught the employee and there was a simulated compensation process, but nothing came out of it. Also, allegedly, said employee died in prison. Even if you could get them somehow to make it work, I wouldn't trust them with a single satoshi. Some links for the curious: https://web.archive.org/web/20180703213757/http://blog.bitxatm.com/

Otherwise i will probably try to reinstall the computer wich is inside with normal windows, so i can make a nice informationpoint, or mediaplayer from it. The outside of the machine looks to cool to just get rid of it ;-) Anyway, thanks for the help all of you, really appreciate!

As the topic already says, i bought a btc atm. I know im a bit late to the party maybe, but it was a bargain Even if it was a bargain, what's your plan? You didn't really buy an ATM for decoration. You're planning to make some money out of it; so, what's your plan? In my country, there are several of Bitcoin ATMs, but they have high commissions and that's why they don't use them. They also sell Ethereum, Litecoin and Dash. Also, out of curiosity, how do you setup such thing? Does it run a node behind? Do you set your own commission fees? Does it have a hard drive which contains the seed your customers will derive addresses from? What happens if someone steals it from you and compromises that drive?

Different Bitcoin ATM (BTM) manufacturers have different models. BitXatm was centralized and custodial. They ran the backend server for all their BTMs. That's why they got cleaned out by an employee. But I think all of the BTM's in existence are just a frontend to a server, which you run elsewhere. If it gets stolen, only the cash in it is at risk. The wallet is not on the BTM but on the backend. Of course, if you don't realize it's been stolen the thief could just clean you out by inserting bills on one side and taking them out on the other, while you're sending him bitcoin

I am pretty sure it is not going to work anymore.
Have you tried to contact Plutobtm and ask them if they have any connection with old company and if you can use their server and software with your Bitcoin atm machine. in worst case scenario you can keep it as collectible item, it may worth much more in future than now, or you can make an offer to sell it in bitcointalk marketplace section. It looks like that original price for this new machine was around €3,900 back in the days. I am not sure how other Bitcoin ATM machines are working, but I know there are several major producers like GenesisCoin, General Bytes, BitAccess, Coinsource, Bitstop, Lamassu and many small ones, plus there are various operators available: https://coinatmradar.com/manufacturers/PS Venezula government recently purchased bunch of Bitcoin ATM's but I am not sure what model exactly.

I also posted something about it, but it didn't have all necessary information:
For some reason, all I see is a blank page [screenshot] and most likely that's the case with others as well, but I did manage to find an archive of their blog on another website: " Link"
