When NFT board?

People like me won't post NFT related posts on other boards. In July visa didn't buy NFT. (I meant things got to a new level in the last few weeks)

Not necessary just as DeFi, master nood, staking, Memes,  etc boards weren't necessary. The hype will die down eventually when people start realizing what they're or were buying are mostly worthless or not worth as much as they're been auction and also the creators of those NFT are just reaping them off. If it's not associated with Bitcoin it's an alt not minding what they decide to call it so they all fit in the alternative board.

NFTs are getting hyped, but it doesn't have THAT amount of interest to have it's own board. Heck, even having just one megathread for NFTs should be totally fine. Or at least, one megathread for each collection(one for BAYC, one for penguins, etc).

Since you are veteran member, you should have known about using search option and leaving your request/arguments in of the existing "when" NFT board" threads.

Just because there is a lot of hype around NFTs doesn't mean that same thing is happening here and that's the main requirement for getting a separate board; existing one being dominated by NFTs, which is obviously not the case.

If another board for altcoin must be created, it should "Smart Contract" board which cover lots of technology/feature based on it such as cryptokitties, DeFi, NFT, DAO and many more.

I don't think we need to have new NFT board or any temporary hype boards, and that won't bring any new genuine members, but I would much more want to see Lightning Network board.

It's just waste of money buying rocks and other images on centralized network that forks all the time and that you can't use when Vitalik say don't send transactions.

I don't think that adding an NFT section will be implemented anytime soon! There are also other threads[1] that discusses the same topic saying that the most appropriate board would be the Altcoin Section and Token (Altcoins) chidboard that you are already familiar with.

This is now becoming one of the regular discussion on the forum to which each time the answer is same like they are tokens on blockchain which specifically comes under Altcoin section and forum don't need to have specific board for these discussions.

But i tell you if you are serious about any NFT discussion then you should join discord servers for them and they particularly have all the related information sharing there about the upcoming projects and twitter is also best source for the same with the whole section dedicated towards it.

But here on forum it's not suitable as other members have also pointed out that at this time it's regular discussion and hot topic but what at the next intervals? There are some good things related to technology on which boards can be updated but not NFT at this time.

I believe that the reasons you give about NFT make sense. NFT is still a subset of altcoin and discussions can take place on altcoin boards. I don't think about the need for new boards especially NFT boards because NFT is the new hype at the moment. Obviously it will be abandoned with time and we will get new hype again in the future.

As long as NFT is still acceptable on altcoin boards then I don't think a dedicated board is needed. Anyway I don't think NFT boards are something very urgent to add at the moment.

Nevertheless, regardless of being an altcoin or not (it is of course), I guess having a dedicated board NFT makes no sense. It would only increase the sub-board and make it harder for new people to find out the right board, more pressure on the moderator as noobs would make more mistakes, etc LOL. There's LN sub-board is pending and demanded for more than a year if I'm correct; theymos haven't added yet nor do I see any possibility of that. Why NFT board would matter? Apart from that, NFT is yet to be a proven thing I guess.

Agreed. What I can think of this is that even though there's no own board for NFTs either a discussions or projects but the NFTs are still an altcoin in my opinion if the NFTs is made with smart contract from main network like ethereum. That's why alternative board would be the best place to discuss and promote NFTs in my opinion and as what CryptopreneurBrainboss stated. It's hype won't be the same as when it started to hype.

I think it would be best for the OP to back down on the NFT board proposal because in the end there aren't a lot of people supporting the board there. I don't see the enthusiasm of the users who came to support the proposal while other users prefer the altcoin board as a viable board for NFT discussion. I agree with that suggestion because basically NFT is an altcoin or Non Fungible Token. I suggest locking this thread as I don't think this proposal will work any time soon.

NFT is a branch of crypto market but it is young and need time to mature and get accepted. More risk in early days of anything and NFT too so that NFT branch needs a few years to mature.

As basics of Lindy effect, with time, NFT branch will mature more but it means NFT branch must survive over time too. I believe in the future of this technology as always there are both opportunities and challenges which co-exist. Bad projects will die, good projects will survive but NFT branch will be here to stay.

As Charles-Tim wrote at the beginning of this thread, a sub for Lightning network should be further up the priority list. But even that won't get created because there aren't that many new LN topics to justify its existence.
Check out the Altcoin Section and Token (Altcoins) subs and do a search for the NFT keyword. How many are there on the first page, and how many are there on the next 5-10 pages? If the majority is NFT-related threads and you have problems finding alternative topics of discussion, you are right and an NFT-sub would be needed. That's not the case though.

No the problem is not that it's not getting support from many members but in reality there's no need for the same due to some reasons.For example when you go to altcoins section there are various talks about tokens,new projects and then NFT related talks also but not too much at this time that a seperate child board should be created by @theymos for it.

As mentioned above tokens are part of some altcoin blockchain like ETH,SOL,Polygon or any other so they all are part of altcoin section so why go away from it? You could search for the discussion and you would find 2-3 topics on first page and rest the discussion continued on them for short periods of time.

Mostly if the seprate board is dedicated towards it then it would increase the chances of spam posting and people shillings out some fake projects in them as there are coming out on daily basis so this should be diluted and restricted to altcoin board only.

I think you have missed all the previous discussions about how it's not feasible to create NFT board and your support won't make it happen unless @theymos find it necessary and it's not as we have discussed earlier also.There are relatively very few topics about them which can be concluded in altcoin section so what's the need?

I think NFTs are here to stay, same as the metaverse. I agree we should have a child board under the alt sections for Metaverse/ nfts.

I actually think it would be a good idea. Put it below tokens and we can take all the crap NFT posts / discussions and dump them in that cesspool of a board. This way the rest of us don't have to deal with those people.

Although I do agree a lightning board would be more useful there would have to be some form of moderation and such to keep it organized and on topic. Just a board labeled NFT and let everything just fester there till the 'next big crypto thing' comes along. I mean we had the alt coin boom and bust the token boom and bust the defi boom and bust. Tokens are just the next wave of it.

I concur, totally agree with you, we sure need an NFT board here on bitcointalk, this will bring alot of improvements to the forum in terms of growth and flexibility, we are going to gain alot of new members here and also, this will open more room for a wider discussions on stuffs which relates to crypto currencies in general.
I definitely support this move and I really hope that the Admins or those in charge of creating new boards on this forum will look into this, like I've said before, this will help put bitcointalk in the limelight again and gain us more popularity and rank.

While I agree that NFTs and metaverse are here to stay (like ICOs are still here, but now in form of IDO/IGO/INO/whatever), question is whether altcoin board is so overrun with them that having separate board is needed.

I would say no, and you can see on the screenshot below why there is no need for that. So, from the top 35 topics in Tokens (Altcoins) board, only 6 (I may have missed one or two but doesn't change anything really) were about NFT based projects. Bare in mind that I even sorted them by the last post because situation would be even worse for NFTs if I let it to be sorted by default.

If situation was opposite then you would maybe have some argument that NFTs deserve their own board as they arw drowning everything else, but as we can see that is not happening as of yet, no matter the hype around it outside bitcointalk.

If the (Altcoin) part of the "Tokens" board would be removed from the name, I think it would be much more fitting for 90% of the things that are happening with smart contracts. Altcoin is a legacy term, but the difference between tokens and currencies is clearly accepted within the community (and on this forum).
